Spurs v Man Utd Europa League Final on 16:11 - May 22 by HantsR
Indeed, me too.
Plus: Sendings off for Shaun Derry and Clive Wilson at Old Trafford
Plus: Steve Bruce telling the lino that Les Ferdinand was offside, when he went on to score
Plus: my having to endure being sat next to two Manure fans in the Lower loft when Rooney scored in the 2nd minute
Plus...Bobby Charlton dissing our quaint little ground in 1968
The Derry one is the one that always rankles with me. There was clear daylight between him and Ashley Young and yet still that utter tool Lee Mason couldn’t get his red card out fast enough.

Please think of all those plastic Chelscum fans having to be in the Mickey Mouse Only For Losers Conferance Trophty thingy, for beating Albanian fourth division runners up over two legs
It's being so happy that keeps me going.

Oh yes, and the QPR fan in this video, a bloke called Clive, is also quite cross about the decision :
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

What about ince allowed to kick the shyte out of us in the facup game. Holloway showed me the scar he got given. Nasty.
Hughes pretending to be head butted by Alan Mac. Asked him about it but kept professional about it. He was a FA instructor and assistant to Waddock at the time. Special man.
Opening game of the season up at OT 83?. Match of the day that night was a w ank fest about them. We were so on top in the 2nd half. QPR just extras that day. Ferguson’s programme notes were very complimentary and classy about us though.
Fcuk em

I think the last time a club qualified for Europe's top club competition and finished outside a normal qualification place was Aston Villa after they won in 1982 and finished 11th in the first division that season.

A lot of big finals are like this.
I attended the European cup final in 92 at Wembley, Barcelona v Sampdoria. The fans created a great atmosphere but my god the game was dull, so boring. Went to extra time and almost pens but Koeman scored a late free kick to win it for Barca. We just wanted to get out and to the pub by then.
Some of the best players of all time were in the 1990 and 1994 world cup finals and they were both incredibly dull.
Last one was pretty good though

If I were 15th place West Ham, I'd be seething that two crappy teams below me got to play for a spot in next season's Champions League.
In fact, if I were West Ham, I'd demand a tax funded new stadium as recompense!

Mrs Chef had a fair question - if the final is between two English clubs why are they shlepping all the way to Bilbao for the match?
I mean yes I know these decisions get taken at the start of the season, and theoretically Bilbao benefits financially from English fans drinking all their beer. But still.
The two finalists weren't confirmed until 08 May - 13 days is nowhere nearly long enough to arrange a game which had 50k fans in the stadium and the same again (at least) outside.
On top of which UEFA likes to stage such events in a variety of different venues spread around Europe, but the need for a big, modern stadium means that half of their member countries could never hold such games anyhow.
Therefore if you were to switch finals where both teams were from the same country, then Spain, England and Italy would end up hosting even more Finals than they already do now.
And in any case, had the Athletic Club not had a complete meltdown in their semi-final first leg vs Man U, then they'd have been contesting the final in their home stadium!

But for the three promoted teams going straight back down, these two could have been playing in the Championship next season….
A Spurs mate was telling me that with the three relegation places being pretty much sewn up soon after the New Year, the players weren't motivated to put in the effort needed to climb a few places in the league.
Meaning they concentrated on the Europa, also the League Cup, where they got to the semi-final (beat Liverpool at home in the 1st leg, though hammered at Anfield).

Well yes I appreciate all that. Thanks Mr Plymouth.
