Spurs v Man Utd Europa League Final 23:51 - May 14 with 3685 viewsnumptydumpty

Curious as to who others would prefer to win out of these two low level premiership teams.

16th v 17th !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can both teams get soundly beaten please.

If I had to choose, I personally would enjoy a Tottenham meltdown but neither team deserves to taste glory this season.

Long may both their declines continue

Seems quite early in the season for the Charity Shield match….

How anyone thinks that this competition should provide a route into the champions league is beyond me.

I know they are the rules but come on, neither of these two teams should be rewarded financially for their contributions to football over the course of this season, let alone entering what used to be a prestigious competition through a back door.

Those possessed by devils, try and keep them under control a bit, can't you ?

Has to be Spurs, hate Manchester United and all they stand for with a passion.

Whichever of the two is less likely to cream themselves Newcastle-Carabao Cup style if they win it.

So that will be neither of them.

Grandfather was a Spurs fan and took me to the old WHL a few times. Think he’d be sad about what they’ve become but then that’s modern football. Of the ‘big’ clubs particularly in London they’re by some distance the most tolerable for me at least. Having heard endless stories about the teams of the past I’ll have a drink for him if they do it which they won’t.

Nothing to like about United at all. Their downfall will always be hilarious.

I used to have a bit of a soft spot for Spurs when you had the God-botherer spraying passes around and Moatie's best mate waltzing through teams like a deranged geordie Messi. QPR always seemed to have a cordial working relationship with them too until Redknapp/Sandro firmly wiped their coçk on those curtains.

Maybe it's an age thing or maybe football is passing me by but I can't tolerate any other London clubs apart from Charlton, Orient and Barnet and only them because they're lower in the league than us (for now).

Actually (and I hate to say this and have to mask it with "only because of the sell-on fee").... I've quite enjoyed watching the Stripey Nigels in the Cup. There. I'm off away to scrub myself in the shower for a few hours.

Delightful turn of phrase you have there describing Redknapp and Sandro.

Most wholesome !!!

Actually though I think currently we are a bit of a tester club for Spurs currently.

They offloaded Kieran Morgan our way, gratefully accepted and then asked us to give Mr Yang, the odd outing or two.

So currently I would say the special relationship is back on and going steady. That curtain has been well and truly cleansed most thankfully !!!

Tottington Hot Spurms.

If only because it will be hilarious to see Levy's mush when he has to smile for the inevitable photo with Ange holding the cup.

Yeah I don't really get the hate for Tottenham from neutral supporters, like you say, they have the most tolerable fanbases I've encountered out of the London clubs, out of United and out of Liverpool. Tottenham would rank pretty low on my list of teams I dislike, unless someone wants to give me some valid reasons why I should dislike them more.

You could dislike Spurs more because they got into the football league instead of us over 100 years ago and perhaps we might have become the bigger club. They also stopped us winning the FA Cup in 82, our only shot at it. We totally outplayed them in the replay so that rankles.

It is annoying we are not an established club in the Premiership while United and Spurs are crap. We could have improved on our one win at United and our record at Spurs which is not brilliant either. Sadly we are worse than both of them...

I didn't realise Charlton had so many fans. Thousands of them surrounded me at London Bridge and later at King's Cross tonight.

I watched the Charlton/Wycombe match, two very poor teams I thought. Not a patch on either Orient or Stockport. (Which guarantees Charlton will beat Orient at Wembley of course.)

What's the Valley's capacity these days? It seemed a very large crowd for sure.

Those two events were in the same season mate. The Spurs game was in September and the Man U game in March.

I know. I've still the battle scars.

That Cantona goal certainly was infuriating but in that instance my ire was directed more at the officials for allowing too much added time. I was more irritated by Sheringham's dive for the penalty that sparked a 3-2 Spurs comeback win in the season QPR were first relegated from the PL. Had we won that match it could've been the catalyst for survival and our recent history would look very different today. For that reason alone the only time I could ever back Spurs is against Chelsea.

As for Eze, I'd like him to join a club with the biggest pockets and that's seldom Spurs. When it comes to transfer dealings, Levy's tighter than a duck's posterior.

That Spurs game hurt and I wasn't even in the country for it.

I was away backpacking and in Fiji at the time, to be precise in a cafe with a Brentford supporting mate as the results came through on the radio. On hearing "QPR 2" I felt good, only to be crushed and have to endure said Brentford fan taking the piss. Although it was early in the season, I really felt on hearing that result that we were going down, and so it proved.

In those pre internet days there was a phone line you could dial here in Australia to get results and scores were available from about 2am. In those days I was usually still out at that time on a Sunday morning and it was mostly bad news that season.

Given my age and being a northerner I have had enough of Man U winning trophies in my life.

Spurs. Postecoglou will be out at the end of the season, so at least give him some glory.

About 27k. I think they have a lot of ‘fair weather’ fans that will come out of the woodwork. I think they draw support from Kent, but aren’t well supported West of Greenwich or further south in London. A bit like Palace, I don’t really get Charlton or their fans. Millwall I can see the appeal, much more of a community/family club and they’re in a much more lively and interesting area close enough to Peckham, New Cross and Deptford all of which have good places to eat and drink.

I’ve watched Charlton play many times and never really liked it, always thought it had a bit of an EDL vibe.

Fun fact for anyone interested in old London football stadiums - Charlton played one season in Catford at the Mount Stadium before moving back to the Valley when a proposed merger with Catford Southend was called off.
