My first one was my empathy for Daniel Bennie, the poor fecker was limping around the pitch at the end as the rest of the squad were running to all corners with the cup and having their pictures taken and he was missing out on all of them. The only one who seemed to take the time to get him involved was Salamon, I hope Ian Randall took a few pics for him to remember the night in a good way.
Second one harks back to a Sky live game pre covid and Dave Thomas, with quite a number of R's around him spotted Jamie Redknapp walking up from White City station and turned and pointed to him shouting "Look, look over there..." and as Redknapp looked to acknowledge it Dave finished with " it's England international Michael Owen" Redknapp grinned and then flipped him off. At the game last night I saw Jamie chatting to some two seats away so I reprised it with " Hey, Chris (Kemp) look over here here. look who it is; Michael Owen" Jamie shook his head and grinned. I don't think he remembered Dave's original jibe but it made me wonder if he gets that a lot as he didn't seem to mind at all.

I met Jamie once when his son was playing his first game for his local team Leatherhead. It was up in Warlingham and my youngest was a bit awestruck. I asked if he could say hello and he couldn't have been friendlier. We had a nice chat and he asked my son who he played for and what position etc. It was good to see. |  |

On Redknapp, I’ve posted before that my family ran for many years a big charity event on the south coast and ‘Arry would regularly volunteer his time to come down and mingle, hand out prizes etc and was always great value. He brought Sandra and Jamie along a few times too and again both came across as just decent people.
When ‘Arry was at Pompey he used to bring the squad to Glorious Goodwood every year and would regularly rant in an exasperated way about the players being glued to their phones rather than watching the racing.

Probably knowing that Putman is rapid and could close the space back quickly.
The kids looked great, and that midfield three showed the first team how it can be done with legs, hustle and forward passing
Tuck could be very handy for us if he continues to develop and we already know what Morgan can do, he looked good with fast people to slide in a few times. |  | | |

Putman did an OK job considering what he was faced with. He could have done with more help from Petrie but he stuck to his task fairly well.
The guy he was marking was Tony Yogane, who made 19 apps for Exeter in L1. Brierley, who took the corner from which they equalised, had 44 apps with Rochdale in L2. Ashley Hay made 23 apps for Cheltenham this season.

Whatever else we might want to criticise Nourry for, at least the support and structure for pro-active youth development and a uniform "QPR DNA" is already paying dividends.

Had a chat with a couple of Brentford fans at work today. One went and said we were the better team.
The other, who is a ST holder and goes to all the away games, said this about their youth setup.
'The club doesn't care, it's done for lip service as we're forced to by the PL. None of them last night will play for us anyway so not bothered.'
Now, if I was a Brentford fan I would not be happy if the club is doing that. Eventually they will be relegated and they'll have nothing to fall back on. Their 1st team squad is starting to age and its only going to take one or two bad transfer window and they could be in real trouble. | | | |

Lumley, Gubbins and BOS were also in that particular set up. The club used to stream all their games and that's when I started to get interested in the development side of the club. They were great to watch then, and I really wanted Chay Tilt to make it to the 1st team when Chair & Eze stepped up just to get a shirt with Eze, Tilt, Chair on the back. | |

With the rack and stack of young players by PL clubs and the rules on loanees in match day squads those loans become like gold dust these days. Suspect even with Lloyd we will be looking at middling L1 if not L2 to get him out. | | | |

I suspect the first 3 are more likely to be in the First Team squad for 2025/26. In effect, if Larkeche doesn't show better defensive nous than previously, our Brazilian could end up as 1st choice.
Tuck was on loan in the National League since January. I'd hope the club concentrate on building his physique but I suspect he'd already be comfortable at L2 level.

Slight correction, Tuck was at Farnborough in the NL South after Xmas, while Aoraha was at Ebbsfleet in the NL.

Esquerdinha might possibly make the senior squad as cover if he impresses in the pre season. If not a good loan out should be arranged.
Sutton is an exciting player but still has plenty to learn. Another who should be loaned out.
Bennie, for me, isn't ready for first team football and, again, should be provided with a loan out.
Tuck could end up going the furthest of the four in his career - he looks that good to me. But he needs to continue to develop physically and at a higher level than he's played to date. As a deep lying play maker, he'll have more responsibility on his young shoulders, so there may be a bit more needed to his football apprenticeship. | | | |
