As a young boy used to buy all of these. When I became a "man", still waiting tbf, purchased "Viz" and the "Today" newspaper. Don't buy magazines or newspapers anymore. Internet and round clock television changed all that. Sometimes less information was more for me.
Anyone still buy magazines or newspapers or know anyone that buys comics ???

Absolutely loved Roy of the Rovers. Always had the xenophobia in the summer when they would go on foreign tours and face despicable cheating foreigners with big moustaches. Then half the side got blown up by a terrorist bomb when abroad too, in some Dangerous Place - RIP Vic Guthrie.

Yes, the League Ladders were a thing of beauty. I used to love how they'd stagger it so you got the table and the first tabs one week, then the other ones over the next couple of weeks. Proper summer excitement.
As for comics, I grew up in the late 70s/early 80s so was raised on UK comics, rather than the 'cooler' US ones. There used to be a really good website where you could download all of them except for D.C. Thomson publications but I think the host got too many legal threats. [Post edited 13 Jun 10:25]

Unfortunately ROTR had already jumped the shark the previous year with Melchester signing Martin Kemp and Steve Norman from Spandau Ballet, as well as persuading Bob Wilson and Emlyn Hughes to come out of retirement. Oh yeah, that was awful when they started getting "real" celebrities. Bob Wilson was bad enough but then the Kemp brothers. I know why they did it, but compared to the rich characters like Guthrie and Gray and all the others - a real shame.

There was also "Nipper," about an urchin who turned out to be an amazing footballer, and "Football Family Robinson," in which all the players as well as the coaching staff were members of the same family. The manager was a formidable matriarch called Ma; she was a bit like Ena Sharples, except she could organise a defence. There was also "Rod and line,' about a young lad who was trying to become a top class angler.
"Roy of the Rovers" featured a story - "Millionaire Villa" - in which a rich bloke bought a struggling football club, with a condition of the purchase being that the purchaser would actually play in the team. I used to worry that the story would give Flavio ideas  .
