Brilliant, as ever, Clive, thanks.

Apropos of nothing, I don't think there is a bookie in the land that would allow you to put much more than £20 on the next manager of QPR market, as the liquidity would be rubbish and of course someone will (for once) actually know what is going to happen, unlike them. I think they just price up a market for show and for clicks on to their site rather than take the market seriously. I may be totally wrong, but I imagine only at the very big clubs do they actually run a proper "book".

This is the discussion we've been having between ourselves, hence that Tim Sherwood point. It might be worth doing it just to watch Twitter melt down!

Not too impressed to be honest
Q1 - why has he been unable to get a job elsewhere if his rep is so good ?
Q2 - Why Rangers ?
As always best of luck !

Poll: Now it’s slightly clearer cut who do you want as manager ?

"For the odds watchers though… Martin, O’Neil, this profile of manager is not coming here"

Obviously Martin O'Neill was never coming here :-)

Too old now anyway!

Great piece as ever Clive.

Both of these questions are answered in the article!

Two upfront, four across the middle, jumpers for goalposts but with an element of French sophistication, what’s not to like, Monsieur Stock?

We might finally be breaking free from the three midget plan that seems to define us.

Yes now that I’ve read it I can see that but I thought it was something to be concerned with. He’s been out of work a while probably don’t come cheap either.

Be fascinating to see what system he goes with, a 4-4-2 kind of puts likes of Dembele and Chair on the sidelines but makes sense for the type of midfielders and forwards we have

Great article btw Clive, really interesting about him, looking forward to listening to the pod later

4-4-2, flying wingers, two holding midfielders, big man little man upfront. And a big Irish lump at centre-back.
Spot on its like Gerry Francis early 90s team. Bring it on!

Actually really excited by that prospect. I think we'll see several youngsters moved up from the DS squad with this bloke as head coach. Something as u said Nourry is keen to do. Sink or swim time.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

Two up front will be a breath of fresh air!

Genuinely, when did we last have that?

We must be patient and wish him well.

Who knows? We could emulate Sunderland.

But, if there is a concern, it is not about formations and tactics, per se. It is about how soon he can adapt to the 46-league match season (plus cups...yes, I know); the times when we play three games in eight days and how he will cope in weeks when the team could spend more time on the bus than on the training ground.

Just call it a 48 game season.

Poll: Wherever QPR end up playing home games in the future, what is most important?

Well tbf Rennes were in Europe most of his first spell there. The year they won the cup they played 56 games and the year back after Covid they played 45. The one in the middle that got curtailed they played 41 times and had another ten to go.

I think there's a lot in there to feel hopeful about. But the Championship is a marathon not a sprint so this comment is slightly concerning:

"On Stephan’s propensity to burn bright, early, then fade, Brosse had some particularly interesting comments. “There’s no official answer of course, but in my opinion the players become exhausted physically and mentally. Stephan asks a lot."

When Steve McClaren was managing us in 2018/19 he flogged the players in the first half of the season and we dropped like a stone in the second half of that season when the players ran out of steam.

Hopefully a younger and more energetic squad profile will help us there but Stephan might need to learn how to marshal his resources.

Amazed we are allowed to know its a 2-year deal.

Positive that we have a manager who values a good cup run.

You're not, that's from the French journos. Seen it suggest that it's two plus the usual year option on top.

As all the teams seem to play more or less the same way I think we could have some success early on if we hit teams with a 442 the difficulty will be maintaining that for the season especially when teams have worked out how we play .

Really hope this works because as a fan base we really deserve it
