With the fixtures released tomorrow, it's time for the annual guessing game of who will we be playing on the opening weekend.
It looks to me that we will be playing home games when The Pensioners are also at home, with Brentford & Fulham away on those weekends. If this is correct, we will be away for the first match & on Boxing Day.
I have a feeling that we will perform in the first match of The Championship, away to Ipswich on Friday 8th August. [Post edited 25 Jun 10:20]

I love fixtures day and right now it feels like Xmas morning. I’m pretending to sleep while Mum surreptitiously stuffs my Xmas stocking with satsumas, joke books, and general tat she’s bought down the market. I’m still saying Wrexham away first game tho I wouldn’t be surprised if our first visit to North Wales for yonks is a dark moody wet and unwelcoming evening in deepest darkest Darknessshire - hedging my bets there.
Loving everyone’s predictions so here is how the LFW Precog first day table stands at this juncture:
In the lead is Birmingham away with 3 picks. Then Ipswich and Portsmouth away with 2 picks. There’s also one for Ipswich at home. The smart money’s on an away game to start but 5 of the 20+ picks are saying home games - the others being Millwall, Bristol City, Leicester & PNE (might as well get it out of the way sharpish).
The rest of the picks, all away, and in a vague south to north order are Montpelier (or is that a Sancerred Planet H. trying to say Middlesbrough) Southampton, Charlton, WBA, Derby, Sheffield United, Blackburn, and joy of joys Preston. Oh yes and Wrexham - which is what I said.
Untouched thus far are Watford, Norwich, Oxford, Swansea, Cov, Stoke, Wednesday, Hull, & Middlesbrough. Luck be a ladyboy. |  | | |

Most of the pubs around the ground have been shut or are temporarily closed. Only The Rose of Denmark & Royal Oak are near the ground now. Do not go in The Royal Oak. Charlton Village pubs are all home fans only.
My suggestion would be to head for The Pilot near the O2 and get bus down, or have a drink in Blackheath Village before the game and jump on the train for a couple of stops There are 3 decent pubs not far from the station. I will caveat though as I know the Charlton mob do sometimes meet in Blackheath before big games and I know Wrexham fans came unstuck there last year. |  | | |
