Kolli 10:23 - Jul 1 with 23154 views | WestbourneR | Seeing a fair few negative assessments of him over this close season (Gallen & Dave Mc + several posters on here) saying he's either not good enough or should go on loan to L1. I'm totally perplexed by it. The guy is a rare gem. For me, the reason he's special is his back to goal game. It's something you don't get very often in a young player. Not only does he have a powerful strike, good feet and composure - he is also strong and relishes the battle and hold up stuff. He's also tall and good in the air. So yeah - he's not a 10, he's not a winger (not quick enough) - he's a striker. His stats speak for themselves, when he plays, one game in every two he tended to make something happen with an assist or goal. Stats aside, even just with the naked eye, you can just see he has what it takes. Best youth prospect at this club since Eze IMO. I don't get why people are down on him. He's just 20 years old and straight out of our youth team! [Post edited 1 Jul 10:24]

Kolli on 10:15 - Jul 2 by Northernr | Yeh agree on the hold up stuff Nix. We tried him as the main striker in our system away from home twice last year - Bristol City and Hull - and he got absolutely battered both times. Ball didn't stick at all and we barely crossed the halfway line. Alfie Lloyd then came on at Hull and did a far better job of that for the final half hour and we won the game, and I agree with the poster higher up who says Kolli is ability wise streets ahead of Lloyd. |
Agree with all of this and that's what made some games so frustrating. The guy has bundles of ability and what a waste it was just to have him up top just pumping long balls to him. I get at the time we were probably lacking striker options so perhaps it was a necessity. I would personally just like to see him deeper, allow him to actually get on the ball and have some freedom to dictate play

We're not short of players who want to do that though, and we've just bought another.

Kolli on 09:54 - Jul 2 by QPRSam | "Family fell out big time with Nourry so it’s not that surprising to see Twitter accounts that are 100% real and in no way shape or form paid for bots, honest guv, giving him stick online" This was a comment earlier in the thread that I have been responding to. Acknowledging that a young player needs to work on their game isn't "giving him stick", that's normal football discourse. I hope that makes sense |
not buying into the conspiracy theory on that one , the messages i saw were from fans who go to games the we love kolli messages were mainly coming from family members to be honest , thats what was cauing the issues with him and the club at the time. most recent ones i saw were england were desperate for kolli to switch to play for england ! and his falling out with the algerian Fa over something , be nice to see some good press for him on how well he has played for a change

Why are you not sure? Have you ever spoken to him about what he wants from his career here? I have, he wants to be a regular 1st team player

In the 10 I don't see any minutes, as you rightly say and we all know this is crammed. Chair, Madsen, Dembele, Morgan, Vale. Probably missing more. On the left though, we've lost Saito and no incomings yet. That leaves us with Chair, Sutton?

thin the issue some fans had was the i want a new contract issue that dragged on for way to long , instead of making the club give him an offer by playing his arse off all we got ws a back and forth sm campaign on how he deserves a better deal after playing well in a couple of games , that Pi44ed a lot of fans off me included , play well for a longer period of time and earn the contract not try and back them into a corner by forcing them too. id hope all young players want to be a regular first team player otherwsie why are they even playing ? sounds like we are going for round two this season !

Sure but when used in attacking positions in the past he's always been used on the right side. But potentially yeah he could play on the left also
Kolli on 12:08 - Jul 2 with 1348 views | WestbourneR | We have to remember he's just 20 years old. He's still learning about hold up play and making it stick. But I think he has got the physical attributes and the determination to make that a really big part of his game. He will improve, the signs are there in the way he battles and buffets. So yeah, he had some games where he got bullied. But so did Lyndon Dykes (and that was meant to be his game). It's not easy when your team is static and sitting deep and you have zero effective runners around you. I think Kolli did a very good job as a loan striker in numerous other games at home. So it may not be his best attribute but I think it can get up to a level that will allow his other top top attributes to shine as a lone striker - namely touch, vision, strike. Celar on the other hand has none of the grit or determination or strength to ever be an effective loan striker in this league imo. I'd be amazed if he can find it. I hope he can. Sure Alife Lloyd probably ploughs a loan farrow better but he has a horrible first touch and ultimately isn't top level. Ok at 5'10 Kolli is not tall, I called that wrong, but first touch is key up front and Kolli has it. If the only loan striker you feel is strong enough is someone of Frey's attributes then we're going to ultimately remain a very limited team.

Kelman played the entire season last year as a lone striker.

Kolli isn't going to become a player who can hold the ball up6 just isn't his playing style. He likes the ball at his feet and taking players on, but as others have said, we have a lot of players like that. His work rate off the ball, bar the last game of the season, is really poor, like Dembele. I really want him to do well so we get a fat transfer fee, but I wouldn't put him ahead of Chair, Poku, Smyth, Frey, Celar. Kolli, Dembele and Madsen are all technically good, but they are what used to be called luxury players or lazy gits.

Wouldn't put him ahead of Celar??? Really?? Based on what evidence?? It certainly can't be goals or assists. Or hold up play. Or touch. Or finishing. Or desire. Wilkins, sorry, but you've just got no idea mate. You're probably one of the lot on here who thought Eze was a lazy ineffective luxury player (of which there were many) If he gets the games then this season will conclusively prove you're wrong about Kolli. I'll be glad to come back to this thread and we can see who called this right.

I agree. Kolli is different class. He has that natural instinct which is needed to become a top player. Which is something that Celar appears to lack - although he did show it on 2 or 3 occasions last season - his finishes at Cardiff and one classy dummy at HQ. Going back to Kolli, if we get it right he has the potential to become a top player. Up there with Eze in my opinion.

Which bit ? it was a full on campaign on social media from followers, friend even possibly family members about he deserves a huge payrise due to how good he was , he wasnt at the time , Not sure he is now either to be brutally honest . like willock he has family behind him who i dont think has the best intrests in kolli the player just kolli the money maker , Which is a shame for kolli the player as players with that sort of backing rarely last that long in football.

Kelman has also spent a large part of his career on loan , and finally found a club who learnt how to play him , kolli so far hasnt thats held him back massively development wise , has a good first touch but hits the deck way to easily that the referee ignore him for the rest of the game even whe. he has been fouled , noriwch away was a prime example for him hit the deck few times early on ref didt give one thing for kolli after he hwas hooked not long after half time i think .

Really? When Eze was the same age (20) he'd managed a 46 game season https://www.transfermarkt.com/eberechi-eze/leistungsdaten/spieler/479999/plus/0? Kolli might come good, but I don't think he is Eze levels!
Kolli on 14:26 - Jul 2 with 862 views | Benny_the_Ball | Social media shenanigans aside, I don't understand the negativity around Kolli. Of all the ball playing forwards at the club (of which there are many), here is one who genuinely knows where the goal is. If reports of Kelman leaving are true then we'll need Kolli to step up.

Eze 18-19 - 46 games, 4 goals, 3 assists Kolli 24-25 - 21 games, 5 goals, 3 assists I don't think we should compare these players but I also don't think it's outrageous to say Kolli is our most promising youth player since Eze. Hopefully he can get more than gametime this year, then we can properly assess his ceiling as a player

I think we agree. Kolli is legitimately a QPR youth product, and I really think he is exciting and could come good. But he isn't it yet. I really hope the people around him aren't telling him he's already made it, as he still has loads more development to do. He only has to look at Willock and Armstrong to see that forcing a move away too soon isn't the best long term
