Kolli 10:23 - Jul 1 with 23206 views | WestbourneR | Seeing a fair few negative assessments of him over this close season (Gallen & Dave Mc + several posters on here) saying he's either not good enough or should go on loan to L1. I'm totally perplexed by it. The guy is a rare gem. For me, the reason he's special is his back to goal game. It's something you don't get very often in a young player. Not only does he have a powerful strike, good feet and composure - he is also strong and relishes the battle and hold up stuff. He's also tall and good in the air. So yeah - he's not a 10, he's not a winger (not quick enough) - he's a striker. His stats speak for themselves, when he plays, one game in every two he tended to make something happen with an assist or goal. Stats aside, even just with the naked eye, you can just see he has what it takes. Best youth prospect at this club since Eze IMO. I don't get why people are down on him. He's just 20 years old and straight out of our youth team! [Post edited 1 Jul 10:24]

I agree, I thought he played pretty well. Certainly as good or better as every other striker

Kolli on 08:10 - Jul 14 with 2791 views | HammersmithR | I heard before the end of the season that he was leaving this summer and a deal to France had already been lined up. Apparently Kolli is a really nice bloke, but he is under a strong influence from his Dad. If we get decent money for him then sell. The bloke is always injured.

Smells a bit to me like it's another childish strop by the man wearing too many hats after Rayan refused to go to Saudi last summer. Wouldn't surprise me at all if it's yet another poorly managed situation by this clown show of a club. On the other hand, it may actually be that he's hugely injury prone, his Dad is a disrupter and we're getting £5mill for him. If so.... fair play!

Yeah find it hard to understand why he would be broadcasting all of this stuff online, can't be helpful for his son's development. Tbh, if we get a decent fee for him it might be best for everyone if he makes a move, although a shame. There were some bright moments from him last season. But he's still got a lot of work to do, and the whole situation just seems unstable. The constant speculation about what's going on with him isn't good for anyone.
Kolli on 08:41 - Jul 14 with 2555 views | dmm | For me it's a year too early for Kolli's move but if the price is close to being decent and we have a nice sell on clause, so be it. At least his position (ACM not striker) is one where we are well stocked. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Kolli on 08:55 - Jul 14 with 2454 views | dm97 | If there’s any truth in the figure being banded around here, then I think that’s a good deal for the club. He’s a good prospect sure, but there is a hell of a lot of noise around the kid for someone who has played 20 odd senior games and been injured more than he’s been fit. We need a sale and I’d much rather have Varane in the team. [Post edited 14 Jul 8:56]

An uncomfortable conversation to be had there if true. Way too much noise, just let the kid play his football Just an opinion but I'd be surprised if any big club go for Kolli right now until he proves that he can stay fit. It's not the best sign at such a young age. With that his price also won't be at a premium so can't see anything in it for us. He also needs to play games for his own development which he may not at another club. Moving on now wouldn't make sense to me at all

His dad has big plans for him, before he has achieved anything at all. Not the first parent to ruin a decent career ahead though. A certain Mr Willock Sr upsets the applecart somewhat !! See Newcastle have let Joe Willock leave without a club now. Be interested to see where he goes next also. Sure daddy is pushing for Real Madrid or PSG though. Some parents see the money signs before the till is in operation. [Post edited 14 Jul 9:25]

Willock still has another 2 years on his contract but I know what you mean, another overly invested father. I think they just live vicariously through their children. In Kolli's case, I've seen nothing more than a kid living his dream playing for his boyhood club. Any noise such as this, the Algeria call up recently. It can create a bad image for the misinformed which isn't right

I get confused, his interview after signing a new contract, which was only weeks ago?, he talked about QPR being his home. Surely he isn’t going to move such a short time later and injured. No idea numbers being banded about but we have years before we need to sell, assuming he has a 3 year contract with an extension which feels like the norm. Nourry’s plan on us being a development club surely means they must benefit the 1st team also, which he hasn’t totally yet.
Kolli on 10:06 - Jul 14 with 1997 views | bosh67 | I'm often completely wrong but I'd be surprised if Rayan moves on. I agree with WestbourneR and think he has real talent. I was equally surprised that neither Kevin Gallen or Dave Mc rated him. He's 20!!! He's not the finished article. Perhaps he does need a season on loan as per Chair, Kelman etc but I certainly think he has a big future here. He's 5'11 and has plenty of strength, so he isn't small or easy to get off the ball. He also is two footed. Why would we be keen to move him on unless someone wants to pay stupid money and concede a generous sell-on clause? Keep, develop, play!

Kolli on 10:15 - Jul 14 with 1940 views | stevec | Bit like a lot of players we have, exactly where do we play him? I don’t mean where he should play (part of a two up front, if you’re asking) I mean where you play him successfully in the systems we prefer to play. In short, there isn’t a position and hasn’t been in the couple of years he’s been around the first team.

Yeah thats the problem I have, he's not a forward, do we play him out wide or in midfield. I like him but if we get a good offer I think you take it especially as he's our player so that helps a lot with PSR

Some 20 odd years ago I was living in flats in Camden and one of my neighbours two boys were football mad, just like any other 7-10 years olds. Now, I'd seen them play and they were good but nothing special. He hawked them around every club he could....QPR, Fulham, Southampton, Watford, Norwich and so on. Talking to him all I could sense was greed. No consideration about the welfare of his sons, what's best for them etc. Forward wind to today and now my own 10 year old is in youth football I see that nothing has changed. I see parents with £££ in their eyes, 7-10 year old boys strutting around like they are god's gift because they've been told they are. These youth clubs are meat grinders, all about getting that 1 in 1000 boy to a professional club and what £ they then get back off that. It's a business from the bottom to the top. As there is this massive conveyor belt of kids, clubs can let a player like Willock at Newcastle go because they can then take on a bunch of youth boys at a collective cost that is less than renewing Willock's contract. If just one of those boys comes good, job done. Very reflective of where we are today. Businesses are no longer about providing a service but about how much money can be made (just read about the Connells estate agents scandal, no surprises there. "In the best interests of the client"?.... No chance). [Post edited 14 Jul 12:41]

We had a player that went on a run of 5 goals and 3 assists in 12 games (goal involvement every 73 minutes) before injuries curtailed his season. If you have anyone in the squad that can consistently provide this output, I don't think we can be picky about how we fit them in, you just do it

But if he wants to leave and price is right, what choice do we have. I don’t think we can say to him, look you are first choice this season. I think he’s a good player but he can’t be our first choice striker or number 10.

My comment isn't about that and there is no indication that he wants to leave so I'm not sure it's worth bringing up. All we know is he signed a contract amid interest from Monaco, Lille while mentioning how much he loves the club. He's been here since he's been 8. Regardless of what the Dad says, why believe otherwise? As for the position, my point is that if he can get back to Winter 2024 form, then he can play anywhere. We're not in a position to turn down that attacking output. If you want my opinion, I think he can play as a striker in home games but for me would be better utilised off the left, cutting in with an overlapping left back. We've seen early examples of this setup in pre season with Esquerdinha used as an attacking left back and the left winger becoming more of a left 10.

he also played away at norwich and barely touched the ball until he was hooked , as everyone says hes got skills no doubting that , his lack of game time due to injury is holding him back big time,

Chair excepted, who's better at 10 with decent strength to not be so easily dispossesed and with a footballing nous that belies his young age. Madsen, Dembele definitely not.
