I would say "meaningless platitudes" is a bit harsh. I think it was a nice touch acknowledging Marti, even if they didn't go so far as to explain exactly what led to the garden leave situation. The phrase "not the end to his QPR career anyone wanted" begs more questions than answers, but many boards in this situation would have chosen to simply gloss over the issue completely.

One question I do still have though: Does anyone know if Xavi Calm is still with us? He's been completely left out of any official statements (unless I just missed it).

Xavi Calm is listed as Assistant Head Coach on the Staff Directory

https://www.qpr.co.uk/club/staff-directory

So he's still here in theory. In practice he has probably taken over the gardening leave from Marti.

Cat 1 Academy or stadium renovation/move. Or, more likely, both.

Well if it's stadium news that will certainly be a big deal

Whilst Chansiri is holding pressers asking fans to directly pay all outstanding debt and unpaid wages, I'm not upset that our main concern is the wording in a post season update

Off the pitch, we are in the process of exploring new opportunities which we feel will help QPR take important steps forward as we do everything we can to be as competitive as possible.

I'm interested in the above and my first thought would be the category 1 academy status

Amercian investors? Seems to be the norm.

hopefully the new opportunities isn't John Texetor investing in us as he tried to a year or so ago

Good that they say something though, thats always better than the months of silence which allows speculation to fill that void

We're moving in different directions (plural). It's certainly felt like that watching us the last few seasons.

What would you like them to talk about?

You can have a look at the recent update sit down with Darragh MacAnthony by way of comparison (and this is only addressing the transfers).

I'm not saying we need to be this level of granular with the details, but this is what open and honest direct communication looks like from owners that want to treat their supporters like adults.

Unrelated to the thread but interesting quote from him when discussing Poku and the sell on clause they have: "We believe Kwame can go for 20-25 million in 2 years time"

Let's hope they have a good read on this one

As posted a few weeks back, it’s that Rich Reilly has been criss -crossing America the past 12 months trying to put together a consortium with Hoos and Nourry to buy out Ruben. Ruben has been in holding pattern for years now looking for an exit but only at his price and worse than that he has overruled Nourry several times which blew up his relationship with Hoos.

Both Textor and Carl Lindner 3 kicked the tyres and walked due to Ruben’s number.

As for the statement, as other have said it’s classic expectation management and a polite way of saying ‘we blew £1m we could’ve spent on players paying off a very popular manager and Cook blew another hole in the budget by taking up his very expensive option so now it’s going to be a tough season’

It's all very bland and full of platitudes. The comments about Marti were a bit better than what we got on the day he left.
A lot of it was PR guff with lots of words and zero substance. Just better than nothing.

Mr Nourry and I haven't always seen eye to eye with regard to this and that and one thing and another and matters germaine, but it's good to have some belated contact, albeit in a perfunctory manner such as this.
Onwards & upwards….

Well my take on the Marti portion of the statement was that they are playing the 'injured' party in the gardening leave situation. Reading between the lines, Marti or at least representatives of Marti approached another club about upcoming 'opportunities' so they had no choice about banishing him to the garden shed. They didn't want to, but Marti gave them no choice. 'honest guv, I didn' t wanna do it, but we were only thinking about the club.

When you reach the place beyond thoughts, the only thing you'll find is love and the only purpose of life becomes to ease the suffering of others.

Well we dodged a bullet with Textor.

I guess they are making a statement about STs and sales. That shows some progress regardless of their decisions I would imagine. I’m also fairly sure that the sales mean they are doing something right, in their minds, and that many fans must be behind their leadership.

None of it really matters if we start badly, at which point the comms will just dry up again.

On the flip - I’m equally sure that if we start well, we’ll get something auto-magically churned out more regularly.

Not that GPT is predictable…just guessing.

Nix i would ask for greater openess with regard to contracts and injuries. Also for the fans forum to be attended by the manager and a longer time for questions to be put and answered.

Well you are normally negative on the club to be fair. Wasn’t going to post but…..one of the owners spoke to my son and told him the opposite….ie we’ve been working really hard to make things better and we expect a good season. I guess it depends what your definition of “good” is.

TBF James, would you expect the owner to tell your son they've all been tossing it off in Mykonos all summer and as long as we get out of both cups nice and early, get to 46 points and finish fourth bottom none of them really give much of a stuff?

Honestly, there's no wonder the biggest used car lot in London is next to our bloody stadium

Let's judge that statement when LFW and others get a response to their requests for access to the coaching staff uncensored pre season
That will tell us whether all those words have any substance to them
