Nourry Speaks! Xavi Calm may have a future at QPR. on 23:07 - Jul 4 by bosh67
Stephan seems very confident and relaxed. Let's hope he can transmit that to the players.
I kind of read from Nourry that they like Calm and will keep him on IF Marti doesn't want to take him to the next club. I may be wrong.
It kind of feels like Nourry has listened to a number of people calling for more specialist coaches in the building.
I picked up the opposite myself bosh67 it sounded like they are looking at a buy out and when Dave Mac doubled down he did not have the answer ready as he normally does. There is a new man in charge ,he has his own backroom team ( 1 holdover I think) and will be implementing his system so he wont want any other voices IMO. Plus Marti is still unemployed so Calm is in a tough spot , loyalty and friendship with Marti so wait it out or sign with QPR who did not treat him correctly and risk losing that connection to Marti which has workes well for him so far . Gone I am thinking

How have QPR not treated Xavi correctly?
It may be just cheaper to keep him around until he resigns to join Cifuentes where ever he ends up. If he chooses to that is

The actual headline from all of this is this tight five minutes of jokes youāve heard beforeā¦
Jake Clarke-Salter, who had hip surgery in January, remains sidelined along with forward Alfie Lloyd.
Michael Frey and Nicolas Madsen will also sit out Saturdayās game, as will Rayan Kolli.
Frey and Madsen picked up minor injuries in training this week, while Rangers said on their website that Kolli will miss the match as the club āare carefully managing his training load as part of an individual programme as he works towards match fitness.ā

Dave Mc can be a bit weird at times. What was in his mind when he asked Stephan what language he'd be using with the squad?
I'd expect more to come from the interview with Nourry. There's clearly more footage than we saw in that clip and Dave Mc will know fans will want to see it.

I actually thought that was quite interesting in how much time he takes to make sure his English is stron and he is able to communicate with the players with the prwep he does before they start training

He may have been requested to ask that so JS could display his command of English?
The grass is always greener.

I guess we have several French speakers in the squad now and maybe it was simply that.
Varane, Chair, Nardi, Larkeche, Frey spring to mind immediately.
Smyth may still be learning how to say the monkey is in the treeā¦.or how to check in at a hotel.

Same old suspects. I've heard JCS won't play any part in pre season, so we'll probably see him back in October. Kolli looking like he is as fragile.
We start pre season with two fit strikers, Celar and Kelman, one of whom might be leaving.
All change at QPR, yet somehow everything stays the same.

Well the language thing has been brought up as a potential issue in the past, one of the French journo guests mentioned it specifically in Clives podcast too. Clearly he's not as fluent as he'd like to be - or Marti was - but I don't see it as an issue for the players at all based on what I've heard from him (and what he said in response to the Q).
The injuries continue, which is a bit of an eye roll. As I mentioned in the Kolli thread, the thing people seem to ignore with the Kolli discourse is that he's constantly missing time through injury. Now they're having to manage his fitness after a summer break?? Makes me think he needs a permanent fix of something.
As for the Nourry section, you might be right that there's more words, but it doesn't mean there's more information... It's a quick 30 seconds of not really telling us anything definitively, which is all you're going to get from him. Like interviewing The Riddler.

At the end I thought the French fella had got a hair transplant, I assume that was Nourry.
In between the work till youāre muscle bound adverts, I couldnāt tell what was going on. Was there a bit I missed about JCS being flat on his arse still or was Clive having a joke?
I think I preferred the silence.

His English will definitely need to improve* and he seems keen to do so and there will surely be resources provided by the club as well as his own commitment.
Yesterday I listened to his interview with Phil Parry (Radio London) and with audio only it was quite hard work at times.
(* - I of course add that his English is already better than my French, which je parle tres mauvaisement.)

I've got a French mate who's from the same part of France - I always thought he had a very strange way of pronouncing English words but Stepahn has the exact same accent. Must be a NW France thing.

WLS Dave MC reporting that JCS had hip surgery in January, first time I've read that, he's still recovering so won't be available for the start of the season.

I was pleasantly surprised by his English, while he made very clear his commitment to keep working on it.
Assuming Diarra's is decent having played here (especially football terminology), and with Bold & Betsy, I'm pretty sure they'll get their message across.
Marti's tbf was fluent - but am I right in thinking Gigi Di Canio used a translator when he first came over, like Poch did at Saints - they did ok.
I thought his answer on the language question was the best thing I've heard from him so far.
Very open about how he puts in additional preparation to make up for it, determined to improve and working hard at it, talking about when to use his French (which certainly could be a benefit in those 1-1's) and when he needs to use English and why.
Thought that was all excellent and made him a bit more relatable.

Surely if Calm had any future at Rangers, he would have been involved from the start of pre seasson training.
Perhaps they will be meeting up at the training camp in Spain & a conclusion can be arrived at.
This is what I was trying to say above but did not word it correctly . Calm should be here already getting on board with the new manager/ coaches but the fact he is not tells everybody what they need to know IMO. His loyalty is too strong with Marti and you have to applaud that so he will sit out or take the buy out until Marti gets appointed somewhere by Nov 1st then join back up and its business as usual . They will put QPR in the rear view mirror and we move on also
