Anyone attend the opening gig this evening and if so your thoughts?
Everything I’ve read so far sounds really positive
There’ll be plenty of detractors no doubt, but I’m now really really looking forward to seeing them at Wembley Tickets were stupid prices but I’d always expected that would be the case if they ever reunited; hope they keep their mojo for at least another month!!!
Set list looks a right old riotous walk down memory lane
Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal
Well that's a claim and half which i would dispute by about 15-20 other bands. But i'd love to see them on this tour - i'm tracking the sites for something sensibly priced.
Not many working class kids from Manchester got to where they got to to. Genuine working class, unlike a lot of 60s ,70s and 80s rock stars. Songs are solid too. I went to Blurs Wembley come back tour thing last year . Oasis has kicked them out of the park. Hype, image, Rock star .
I went to the first night and it was the most emotional, communally ecstatic gig I've ever been to (and I have been to many). The first four songs - Hello, Acquiesce, Morning Glory, Cigarettes & Alcohol - was like an out of body experience.
I thought the whole day and night was bit like the night in the Bush after the Play Off Final, incredible atmosphere in pubs and streets, VE day vibes, and the gig itself was like when Zamora scored.
The gigs will get even better, as they relax a bit, but that first night was very moving and I probably won't experience that at a gig again. I went with a dozen or so, all with tickets in different places and everyone said the place was full of people in absolute bits.
By the way, if you don't like Oasis, nobody really needs to know do they?
Seems like they have recognized the early stuff is their best work and dare I say it approaching these dates with a degree of professionalism. Hey it is cool to give a fcuk.
Man City stuff gets on my nerves though. A corporation not a club.
Cant wait to see them August 3rd on my birthday at Wembley.
Seen them twice before 2005 city of Manchester stadium and 2009 in Cardiff.
Looking forward to the supports, Cast are always superb and looking forward to Richard Ashcroft for the first time.
I hope they are still walking on stage to f*ckin in the bushes.
Was gutted not to get Tkts for Cardiff , but have landed some for the first night at Wembley , seen them four times in the past and at the end they had pretty much given up which was shame .
Hopefullly they are still on it for wmbley cant bloody wait
Noel was a Hacienda regular and acid house devotee (and has often said the 'communal' theme in his lyrics was inspired by acid house and part of the reason their crowd warmed to them).
However it was only this week I learned that the Columbia riff was inspired by this mad Italian house track that would probably sit better on the Frankie thread.
That’s mad! Not quite as obvious as: Cigs & Alcohol = Get it on, T Rex Shakermaker = I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing, New Seekers Some Might Say = My Sweet Lord, George Harrison *** Stand By Me = All The Young Dudes, Mott the Hoople, AND Married With Children, Oasis! … and the Gary Glitter one. 🫣
Columbia is a brilliant song, though.
*** One of those Leave the Room Immediately songs for me. That fcking bank ad!

I need a SAGA. What’s the SAGA? It’s ….. Queen’s Park Rangers.
Have to say their back catalogue is really quite something and the clips I've seen look amazing.
I did see them in 2000 at the Reebok Stadium and the crowd was full of pissed up idiot Mancs (and getting trains back to Manchester after was a shambles) so I think that put me off this time round.

Me too mate. Some of the crap going on at Wembley was outrageous, and I don’t think I could be bothered with it all again, but it seems to be a different crowd watching them these days.

I went to that Wembley gig, I was 14 at the time, can't believe my parents let me go! I remember thinking it was pretty mental at the time. I also remember the Doves moaning at the crowd about something, haha
Got tickets to Wembley on 2/8 off of Viagogo a couple of weeks ago, £200 each. After the first Cardiff date theyve shot back up to over £500 a ticket! Crazy money.
Last saw them at MK Bowl in 2005, set list (Below) was awesome. Zutons supported them, were great too.
Can't wait to see them again
Fin' in the Bushes Turn Up the Sun Lyla Bring It On Down Morning Glory Cigarettes & Alcohol The Importance of Being Idle Little by Little Acquiesce A Bell Will Ring Songbird Live Forever Mucky Fingers Wonderwall Champagne Supernova Rock 'n' Roll Star
Encore: Guess God Thinks I'm Abel The Meaning of Soul Don't Look Back in Anger My Generation (The Who cover)
I'm not and never have been a fan, have often veered between disinterest and outright disdain (musically, Liam might actually be the funniest guy on earth, recent casual racism aside) but fair play to them, adding the extra guitarist really beefed them up, they sounded pretty good. Nice that Liam's voice returned once he stopped doing so much gear too

Should have sold them at £300 profit ! If you had x2 that’s yer Season Ticket pretty much paid for ?
(Only joking, but having seen them at Knebworth & Earls Court, I’m happy I saw them at their peak)
