Yesterday v Castellon was largely a shrug my shoulders affair for me (I didn’t see it) but reports of a nervy Walsh was concerning. [Post edited 13 Jul 9:19]

I'm in the minority in that I think Nardi's inability to come off the line outweighs his shot-stopping skills, good as they are.
I am a bit surprised they've let the lad go on loan to Barnsley, given he got a years experience last season, and thrived. I'd have thought he would have been our back up, but maybe it means that Nardi is quite prepared to stay and fight for the number 1 shirt. |  |

Why the negitive stuff about Nardi!!! Nardi did OK last season, no need to look for or at a replacement unless we are selling for a big fee. He is going to make the wrong decision sometimes. He will be selected to start ahead of Walsh. | | | |

The clickbait is real.
I first saw it on Football League World, where it was basically a '2 + 2 = suburban swingers' piece. QPR sign young development keeper + Cooper has good loan + Walsh signs new contract = QPR planning to sell Nardi. No sources, nothing to support their conclusion.
I'd be very surprised if we let Nardi leave at this stage. Nardi, for all his faults, has over 300 league appearances and keeps getting gigs as a first choice keeper.Cashing in now, in favour of Walsh seems counter intuitive. For comparison, at 23 yrs old Walsh has career 26 League appearances, of which 25 are in the National League, National League South or League 2. Our own Murphy Cooper, at exactly the same age, has got 75 league appearances, including 60 in League 1 (37) and League 2. He'll pick up even more this season at Barnsley
Walsh might well be a good keeper but his profile doesn't fit the 'needs Championship experience' template. |  |

The only decent look I have had at Walsh was the Sunderland game. I don't really count Cup games, basically due to us mostly being in we can't be @rsed mode
So Sunderland for me was my first look at him. I thought he was OK, though Sunderland were shocking that day, basically due to saving themselves
Then last week against Stevenage, he basically had nothing to do
Yesterday though... was well shocking. He looked like a rabbit in the headlights...every goal that he let in was truly bad, positioning, reactions,..... then his distribution was really well bad.
It is obvious that Stephan wants to play a high line, which will mean a sweeper/keeper... but on yesterday's showing that isn't Walsh
Possibly the lad is not suited to Stepan's style.. and if that is the case there needs to be a goalkeeping rethink | | | |

His distribution has been ropey at best over the two Champ games he had and the game against Cambridge. Why Cooper was loaned out if the choice is between Dracula and can't pass...
Also not convinced that Walsh is particularly commanding of his ares...
Oh well, from thinking we're OK in the GK department to yet another position we need to strengthen.

He’s had a mare against Castellon . We’ve all had bad days . From what I’ve seen of him so far he’s been pretty good. I like Nardi . He’s footwork worries me sometimes and he’s refusal to leave the six yard box but he was a decent 7.5 last season .

Thought he was our best player in first half of season. Faded somewhat second half but still a good keeper and the goods outweigh the bads. Perfectly fine championship keeper IMO |  | | |

Nardi is an excellent keeper, I don't hugely buy the second half of the season thing. He was solid, dependable, can play out and can make saves. He's pretty calm, he seems well organised. This is the Championship and you don't always get keepers like that. If we were to let him go, half the division would consider having a look. |  |

You can't have a goalie who won't come off his line for crosses, it's kind of a requirement in the Championship. He was being targeted after Xmas and cost us goals.
He also has zero sell on value and he is out of contract at the end of season. Walsh has to play now as if it goes wrong Nardi can come straight back in.
I imagine Walsh (if it goes well) and Cooper will battle for the No1 spot 26/27. Nardi will be released. | |
