Aside from those of you who will undoubtedly reply, he's no good
is there any reason we are not looking to have Saito back??

I thought he posed a threat

Separately is it me or does it already seem that Dembele is going to be in sick bay for a lot of the season?

£2.8m. Jesus.
The priority is the CM, and we spend £2.8m on another small winger. Why?

Apparently, in the summer, they had no intention to buy any CM players, bu they have been so shocked by the performances we are scrambling to bring someone in.
Shocking if true.

Fair play, though, that he still wants to play for us after yesterday.

Hayden is only 30, no up front fee surely it has to be

Because we’ve already got several that can do what he does obvs!

Why would we got a large midfield enforcer type to head it and kick back and maybe play the odd forward pass… ah yeah that’s right we let all of them go

Would have rather had colbeck for another year

As that’s 2.8m we won’t ever be getting back again as we will need to stodge up the midfield after 7 more games to avoid going down

Rinse, leather and repeat

I loved the little guy but we have too many of them already

So I’d rather spend the money on someone much bigger even if a bit more technically limited

Dembele is the prime example spends a lot of time sitting down waving his arms looking for a free that never comes.
Plus he loses most 50/ 50 collisions like yesterday for their 2nd or 3rd goal ( they all blend together in a nightmare ) and he did not even sprint or run hard to try and win it back.
I was concerned by our lack of goals this season did not have much stress about our defense with Jimmy back but look at that carnage yesterday we are looking suspect everywhere

If we get Celar out and buy Saito for 2.8m, that's decent business IMO. LB seems to be coming from Sheff Utd and still hopefully leaves some money for another CM with Eze transfer.

Starting to think we should have gone all out and signed Saito on loan plus option to buy last season, rather than Dembele who we are now starting to carry in games and looks far too lightweight. Don't really think more midgets is the answer, if Saito signs another example of the manager not being involved in the signings and being left to our boy CEO. Anyway if this xxxxshow extends past the international break our new management team will probably be replaced by a new management team and so the inertia carries on. At the moment can only see the Eze bonus going towards paying off another manager and recruiting a new one.

Disagree and agree. I think all the Dembele issues are there for all to see. Don’t forget Illias preferred position is in the middle , a Coventry fan I met couldn’t believe their luck he wasn’t playing btw. Saito becomes 1st choice on the left, Poku on the right, Illias in the middle with Dembele and Smyth warming the bench. As for the rest of the show I don’t know but those three behind Kone should scare a few. Thing is everyone says we need a CM and totally agree Field, Varane and Colback worked as we could afford a suspension. I think we are agreeing, we should have bought him end of last season but Dembele already in the house. Saito is so much more than his stats, Dembele may well score more but sure as hell Saito will stop more.
At least we know Dembele would come on after 30 minutes at the earliest.

If it is true they looked at Our CM’s and thought “We are sorted there lads!” They're bigger idiots than i thought and it should be no surprise they spunk the Eze money.

We are so cooked.

I see a lot of criticism of Dembele but he was excellent in pre season on the left, until they started fcuking about with that one good thing by moving him to the right after Poku got injured. An additional negative of not being able to keep starting players fit.

This is the rumour and may explain why its the only position we have made no attempt to strengthen.

I'm gobsmacked that, wanting to play a more expensive open game, they thought Field, Varane and Madsen could do it. Two can't pass and not comfortable with the ball the other just floats around.

Watch those goals and the lack of midfield cover. Suicidal.

Poll: How is Nourry cooking so far ? 🤣

The problem with Dembele is he cannot defend so it leaves the full back exposed unless we play 4-3-3 We know with Saito that he can track back and he can play defensively, but I suspect we might find in the next day or two that Chair might be out for a while and that's why they have made a move.

That being said we are screaming out for a midfielder with Colback no longer in the picture and would not be surprised to see one or two in that position someone with a bit of experience. The worry with Hayden is that he has only once in his career made more than 30 appearances in a season. We need someone with legs, nouse and availability

On the ball when he is running at players he is very good, when he has his back to goal he is not so good and doesn't have a clue defensivley.

Problem is when he receives the out ball from defence he needs a midfield capable of supporting him so they can beat the press. It's non-existent at the moment.

He was indeed very good pre season from what I saw. But then the competitive matches started again and the mean bigger boys started kicking him or running towards him

Shit but local

Mate he was still good when those rather large Preston brutes were running at him first game of the season.

Joint MOTM along with M'bengue, and they've fcuked about with both of their positions since then, one way or another.

No argument with any of the other posts above about needing to work on the defensive part, to put it mildly. Purely talking about attacking threat which is always a handy thing to have.

And there lies one of our major problems!

We can't be playing three of Chair, Saito, Dembele, Poku, Kolli etc behind a lone striker & in front of a midfield two. We don't have the players behind them to cope with how open that leaves us.

I thought I read that Stephan played 4-4-2 at his previous clubs & is his preferred system. Not that I think we would cope with that too well, although the workrate of Smyth & Saito as the wide players might give us a chance.

Of course, that system is not on the club's agenda.

Dembele was and always has been terrible on the right hand side.

Of all the terrible things I’ve seen so far the most UNFORGIVABLE is Stephan repeating things are well known, well known, not to work.

Madsen in centre mid
Dembele on the right

Just DON’T F—KING DO IT

The fact he does smacks of being ill prepared and incompetent. And that too much know how about this squad has gone out the door with Cifuentes

Cifuentes leaving shouldn't be an excuse to be repeating the same old mistakes.

Most of the coaches that were here under Cifuentes are still here.

What's the point in preaching continuity if you keep going back to things that our small army of experienced coaches have already seen don't work.

It looks like pig-headed stupidity.

The Dof looks like he is trying to prove his way was right all along and Marti was wrong to change the system.

Seems Marti is still living rent free inside Nourry's head.
