Where should newly appointed Captain play, alternatives
1. Fullback
2. Central defender
3. Central defensive midfield
4. Striker
As for alternative 1, we've got new signings for full back, Jimmy has done great in this position, adding physicality, but he is not a natural full back.
As for alternative 2, we've got Cook, Henderson, new signings and possibly JCS. Playing as a central defender JD often rushed and looked a bit stressed, so maybe not. If JCS fit, then he is a better choice than Jimmy.
Alternative 3, Central defensive midfield, this is my preferred position for JD, he adds physicality, presence, can pick a pass and gets into the referee ears, can also move the ball up the field.
Alternative 4, striker, Jimmy adds presence, physicality, goal threat. Maybe a good solution for the last ten minutes when hunting for goal, but not at as starter :)

He will definitely start the season at RB. I am not hugely excited about his ability to defend against fast and/or tricky wingers. However, as others have said (a) he brings a lot more to the table than that and (b) the only other option is an iffy Ozzie. If our centre back options are wiped out through injuries, then he may play centre back in emergencies, however at centre back, we have

2 Morrison

4 Mbuenge
5 Akildilena
Jimmy for me would be sixth option, possibly fifth but depends on how well our covering right backs are, ie Adamson and AN other.

Even by LFW standards, the slagging of Adamson based on a couple of pre-season runarounds is mind-boggling (young kid in new country, big step up etc)...but equally, it's surely clear he's been brought in as cover for Dunne not a starter (lessons learned from Santos).
And as BuckR says, whatever anyone thinks about whether JD 'looks' like a full back etc - last season's division-topping stats suggest we'd be mad to play him anywhere else...which I suspect is also why we've stocked up on CBs. |  |

Has there been a bashing of Adamson. I have not seen that.
He is a reasonably young man playing in a much more competitive and robust league on the other side of the world to home.
Obviously for him, this season is like some from last season, likely to be a season of transition and he is currently seen as right back cover and currently it seems our only cover in this position.
I dont see anyone being against the kid. We all aware of the transition. Hopefully he progresses well throughout his time here. | |

Mbengue got turned a couple of times yesterday in crucial positions.
Personally prefer Morrison from what I've seen.
