Thought it deserved its own thread.

Rohl to leave today. Transfer embargo. Players not been paid and exodus. Council refuse to issue safety certificate for the north stand so no fans allowed this season. Chansiri refusing to sell for less than £100m.

Another victory for football administration

Which is the North Stand?

We are housed in the leppings lane stand so maybe we will get the uncovered corner bit

Is that really true? That’s crazy. Would no club have paid say £1m for Rohl? I’m amazed at that. Or did Wednesday keep sticking to the 5m.

That figure is according to my Wednesday mate

Shit but local

For what it’s worth, I’ve heard something very similar, although I heard £4m was his buyout.

Allegedly he held a goodbye meeting with the squad end of last season and informed Wednesday he didn’t intend to return. He’s spent the summer interviewing for every job going expecting that they’d be able to negotiate a much lower fee with Wednesday desperate for cash but Chansiri is incompetent but not totally stupid, they stuck to the £4m as their main asset. Cifuentes got the Leicester job in part because Röhl was too expensive to buyout.

Wednesday have already given his assistant Pedersen a new contract to takeover but Röhl turned up for preseason and they’d had to agree a seperation as it was unworkable going forward.

Rumour is that Textor is very close to buying them and if he does you would expect a Forest style flood of players arriving from his other clubs - Palace’s best youngster on loan and fringe players from Lyon.

I get the impression that Textor is better than Chansiri but definitely has a whiff of frying pan in to fire.

Apparently the players have been informed that they will not be getting their July wage. The rumour is players will start to refuse to play as a consequence.

There's got to be the very real possibility this lot don't even start the season, and certainly it would be amazing if they finish it as it stands.

I would hate to see them go under - they're one of the most famous clubs in the world.
My wife and I had a dear departed friend who lived on the fringe of Sheffield and we would spend time up there every year. Loved the pubs and punters inc the legendary Fat Cat.

And Burnley have had to pay for the Wednesday hotel ahead of their friendly match on the weekend apparently. Though TBF why you'd need an overnight stay is quite beyond me

Safety nets for clubs in Administration? Hmmm, HMRC in the past it seems ..... I bet Leicester City never repaid the tax Gordon Brown (upon request from Keith Vaz) let them off in 2007 when they won the Premiership a few years later!

„The best thing is to not allow owners like this to get their hands on clubs in the first place„

🎯

Owners like Chansiri? Wednesday fans were delighted with Chansiri in 2016 when they made the playoffs. Step up from Mandaric, never felt this much trust in an owner, man of integrity, really gets what we're about as a club.

The best owner in the EFL is a promotion (to raise expectations) and two relegations away from having the fans marching to the ground with his face crossed out on a banner.

Morecambe about to cease to exist as well.

There really needs to be some sort of Operator of Last Resort system where the sport has a pot of money in reserve and is able to take the keys off wnkrs like this and run it as an administrator while facilitating a sale.

I see the EFL's owners and directors test has been highly effective again!

Your talking to the wrong guy Jack.

Similar story at Hull.

This is why I keep talking about openness, transparency, keeping a watch over your club rather than handing over the keys and trusting everything they're doing.

Everything's fine until it's not fine, and when it's not fine these people fck off into the sunset and it's the fans left with whatever wreckage is left.

We used to get the train same day until not so long ago. As in, within the past 10years, or so.
Leicester is up the road for them, like us going to Swindon, which I’d expect to be done same day.

Is the issue with Wednesday due to how he managed Wednesday or because the owners run out of money elsewhere?

Its a bit mad really, are Sheffield Wednesday any more likely to get a result from Leicester City from travelling to a hotel on Friday, kicking around there all day and the following morning until its time to get a bus to the ground, than they are if the players just went straight to Hillsborough from their homes and got a bus down for 90 minutes on the day?

No wonder clubs lose so much money, some of it really seems so unnecessary. Marginal gains my arse.

The hotel near my mum's is where all the teams stay when they play Hull, Grimsby or Scunny. Most ridiculous was Barnsley booking it out for an afternoon nap ahead of a Tuesday night game at Scunthorpe, a distance of about 35 miles, as a League One side.

We don’t need to look as far as Hull and Sheffield for examples though. We can look at our own recent past with Chris Wright who was meant to be a QPR fan.
