Reports of interest, fee to high, but Swans reluctant at this stage to match it. Could end up with a staggered payment offer if a bid does go in. Agent driven. News is that hasn’t happened, definitely a decent player, only 22.

Inoussa as centre forward?
Peart-Harris had strength to hold of a challenge , then had the legs to outstrip the defence from the halfway line and calmly finish, could Inoussa do the same?
Did Wales get a touch of the ball when he came on yesterday or were we just focused in getting the ball to Inoussa?

Jeez, he only did that once from memory mate.

On Kone, still being told the Swans haven’t given up. There’s no reason to move on as they have other striker targets. Latest is ‘They know where we are, but we have no eggs in one basket’

I had to read it twice too 😂

There were other elements to his game, by the end of his time here he looked good but injury cut short his time here,he did seem to have a position in the first eleven, as for only doing it once, it was one time more than Cullen, Vipotnik and Yates are capable of in that situation given their lack of pace. That may seem a bit harsh on some of those players but maybe not.

My reading of that is. Wycombe know our offer, no need to move onto our other targets yet as this is not dead in the water. If we thought we had no chance I wouldn't be surprised if we signed someone else quietly and used Kone as a smokescreen.

Thanks Keith. Does that mean the Swans bid needs to be increased, payment structure changed, or is it good enough?

For the price they're after I'd be amazed if there wasn't.

Totally agree with you.

I think we should be looking up not down. Yes there's the odd example of lower league pearls, but it seems for every Ivan Toney, there's a Macaulay Langstaff.

But as O' Brien showed last season, quality comes at a price, and I'd rather we spent our money on someone we're confident will do a job, rather than a player who might come good.

Norwich seem to assembling a decent squad; I'd like us to have their ambition.

Its all good and well.saying that we should looking higher but for 1 we cant afford these better players and 2 they wont want to come to us, so thats why we look below, in the hope that they come good.

Even moderately talented youth products from Premier League clubs are going for fees that we can't afford. I would always be looking at foreign markets for the majority of our recruiting.

No idea now mate, things are running away with themselves. Very difficult to get info on a Sunday, I would imagine if Leicester are the other rumoured club then he will go there regardless.

Inoussa might have claimed Ronald’s spot if the L’Orient friendly was anything to go by. Looked great when he came on

Leaving the money argument aside, how do you know that players don't want to come to us? Have you got inside knowledge on this, or is it just your opinion?

He is a class above and if he can stay injury free will be the focus of many clubs.

He looked amazing, powerful and quick and two L’Orient players ended up tracking him. If he stays fit he’ll destroy most of not all Championship defenders .

About Kone - am I remiss in saying I’m not fussed and would advocate looking at someone from abroad. He’s unproven at our level and up to 5 million will buy you a lot on the continent/South America.

Lets not forget Wycombe rejected a £6M bid from Luton in January. However, his value will have decreased because his contract expiries in June 2026.

Money obviously and I obviously dont have inside knowledge but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out what motivates most players, for example lewis o'brien.

You seem to think that because we have owners who are loaded that they should go out and spend millions and millions, there is a thing called PRS and we have to adhere to it.

Inoussa did look a handful but then again so did Ronald movement when he first came here, Inoussa's first touch does looks good.
Our change in mentality in the second half of the Lorient game meant players getting tight, making challenges, runners through the middle of the park which dragged the opposition into the centre of the pitch leaving space out wide, who we tried to find quickly and given the runners in the middle the wingers had someone to play into which was non existant the first half where Fulton sat deep and Galbraith pushed far forward or ended out on the wing basically getting in the way of Widell and Tymon.

Both Galbraith and Fulton leaving Franco alone to get overrun in the midfield. What we saw on Saturday was if you get the ball out quickly to the likes of Widell, Ronal, Eom and Inoussa they will cause teams problems but if they don't have players support and movement around them they get marked out of games.
You have to be wary as a full back in that when providing support you could be leaving the defence vulnerable so you have to be sure the midfielders while also supporting the winger are in position to also cover the fullbacks runs.

The marking in the first half was appalling leaving any press largely ineffective allowing Lorient to casually play through us, they also had good movement that we sat back and admired basically running around in circles, the second half was different, not down to changes in personal but changes in tactics from the off in the second half.

Last year under Sheehan the team press as a unit they waited to get themselves into shape and then pressed as a whole closing down the opposition in a methodical way which often meant teams ended up playing the long ball if that happens and the midfield is out of position then opposition forwards can cause enough problems resulting in loose ball for a well set up team to capitalise on.

Back to your point on Inoussa yes he may be a better player than Ronald but that is not where our problems lie, Sheehan started with as many 1st team players that he has left at the club that he could, he start with a plan it didn't work, did he change it in the first half? No it was a friendly he wanted to see if we reacted , we should have scored but they had a number of good long range shots that you would expect Vigouroux to cover and they did have chances they should have converted.
Sheehan changed things in the second half that made a difference from the off, we had the goal before Eom and Inoussa came on. Lorient still posed a threat which we covered although in a league game I don't think we would of had 11 men on the pitch.
Word of note Arthur Parker had a baptism of fire but he with help should learn from the experience.

Where did I say that?

I said "Looking up, not down "; this doesn't mean we're signing Premier League/La Liga first teamers.

As Dr Winston alludes to, the overseas market is where we should be looking, and I agree. This, in my opinion would be "Looking up".

His scoring record looked a lot different in January to what it ended up being. From Jan 29 until the end of the season he scored a measly 2 goals.

well whilst not knowing the way our transfer people do their jobs, i would (rightly or wrongly) be saying to the players agent and to his club either it happens by a time and date or we are looking elsewhere, as i have said on another thread the longer this goes on the less likely it will happen, we cannot get into a bidding war we do not have the cash and there must be others we are looking at

After what started out as a promising window I can't help but feel targets are starting to feel a bit random? I was under the impression going into the window we had targets already sought, unless of course theres dialogue behind the scenes we're completely unaware of right now...
