🔴 Richard Kone Wycombe 19:03 - Jul 30 with 40086 views | KeithHaynes | Reports of interest, fee to high, but Swans reluctant at this stage to match it. Could end up with a staggered payment offer if a bid does go in. Agent driven. News is that hasn’t happened, definitely a decent player, only 22.

🔴 Richard Kone Wycombe on 09:59 - Aug 4 by hobo | His scoring record looked a lot different in January to what it ended up being. From Jan 29 until the end of the season he scored a measly 2 goals. |
Without knowing much about Kone, this team will create a lot of chances for a striker who knows how to exploit them. As others have said, if we’re looking in the £4-5m range, we should be able to get a cracking player if we aren’t looking in the obvious and overpriced places.

🔴 Richard Kone Wycombe on 09:50 - Aug 4 by Ray_Delauney | "You seem to think that because we have owners who are loaded that they should go out and spend millions and millions, there is a thing called PRS and we have to adhere to it." Where did I say that? I said "Looking up, not down "; this doesn't mean we're signing Premier League/La Liga first teamers. As Dr Winston alludes to, the overseas market is where we should be looking, and I agree. This, in my opinion would be "Looking up". |
If we look up we are looking top end championship players who will cost, we have never done that since getting relegated, we have always got players from below us, that will never change. We have already got playerz from overseas this summer in widdel and inoussa and id say we didnt look up to get them, they are from leagues that standards are lower than the championship.

🔴 Richard Kone Wycombe on 09:49 - Aug 4 by RichardO | Inoussa did look a handful but then again so did Ronald movement when he first came here, Inoussa's first touch does looks good. Our change in mentality in the second half of the Lorient game meant players getting tight, making challenges, runners through the middle of the park which dragged the opposition into the centre of the pitch leaving space out wide, who we tried to find quickly and given the runners in the middle the wingers had someone to play into which was non existant the first half where Fulton sat deep and Galbraith pushed far forward or ended out on the wing basically getting in the way of Widell and Tymon. Both Galbraith and Fulton leaving Franco alone to get overrun in the midfield. What we saw on Saturday was if you get the ball out quickly to the likes of Widell, Ronal, Eom and Inoussa they will cause teams problems but if they don't have players support and movement around them they get marked out of games. You have to be wary as a full back in that when providing support you could be leaving the defence vulnerable so you have to be sure the midfielders while also supporting the winger are in position to also cover the fullbacks runs. The marking in the first half was appalling leaving any press largely ineffective allowing Lorient to casually play through us, they also had good movement that we sat back and admired basically running around in circles, the second half was different, not down to changes in personal but changes in tactics from the off in the second half. Last year under Sheehan the team press as a unit they waited to get themselves into shape and then pressed as a whole closing down the opposition in a methodical way which often meant teams ended up playing the long ball if that happens and the midfield is out of position then opposition forwards can cause enough problems resulting in loose ball for a well set up team to capitalise on. Back to your point on Inoussa yes he may be a better player than Ronald but that is not where our problems lie, Sheehan started with as many 1st team players that he has left at the club that he could, he start with a plan it didn't work, did he change it in the first half? No it was a friendly he wanted to see if we reacted , we should have scored but they had a number of good long range shots that you would expect Vigouroux to cover and they did have chances they should have converted. Sheehan changed things in the second half that made a difference from the off, we had the goal before Eom and Inoussa came on. Lorient still posed a threat which we covered although in a league game I don't think we would of had 11 men on the pitch. Word of note Arthur Parker had a baptism of fire but he with help should learn from the experience. |
I understand what you’re saying. The main problem for us was no Lewis O’Brien who loved charging through the middle. We need to pick up similar if we are going to be successful this season.

O'Brien looked to see if he could manoeuvre himself and the ball, in relation to opposition players trying to close him down, to turn and get the ball forward, he had the pace to then step away from those players to give himself time to pick his pass and then quickly get it away as players tried to chase him down not holding onto the ball too long. He also choose the right time to go forward or drop into the slot left in defence by our defenders as they moved forward it meant he was always on the move looking at where the spaces on the pitch were and made his decision accordingly, did he get it right all the time of cause not but his movement help other make descions as they got on the ball. Let's not forget Franco is just as adept hope Galbraith can fit in maybe even Widell on or even Eom to make the third man in the midfield to make us better going forward through the middle but also make the middle stronger and function properly in defence.you have to stop the opposition midfield running a game. I wish we would / hope we have. McBurnie too. I’m a big advocate of the old adage ‘never go back’. I think if we were going to get Kone there would have been some more about him being in talks, negotiations going well etc. but there’s nothing. I hope to hear if a signing out of the blue putting those two to rest. True Swans fashion.

🔴 Richard Kone Wycombe on 18:08 - Aug 4 with 2942 views | onehunglow | From a naysaying , negative perspective , we failed to bring in McBurnie and now possibly Kone by prevarication Meanwhile our only real striker gets injured Apparently , it's about Sheehan getting them to gel although it might take a few months Just what is the point of a pre season and friendlies? Really should have simply not had any to avoid injuries to players Not worried ? Yeah, course

We cannot force players to sign and we cannot throw silly money around. If only it was as easy as saying we want you and they came. What we know is that the squad has been progressively weakened over several years and we can't build it back up in a few months. We need to be patient and realise the current owners have far better intentions and more of an idea than Kaplan and Levein and things are moving in a better direction. We have a pre-season that sees no wins and people are panicking. Not what I'd epect from people who have been watching the Swans for decades. Haven't we got the experience to know better? Hasnt it already been pointed out that under Molby we had a rubbish pre-season and then made the play off final...John Fraine...twce taken free kick...he moved the ball...ref said nothing...goal...keep calm and carry on.

I take it you’re referring to the Twitter piece? Is that something Keith posted in there. I’ve not got to grips with how that platform works unfortunately.

Yeah on Twitter we'll X. Again maybe I'm being thick and reading into something that's not there. Might not even be related to Kone and Wycombe. But curious if anyone, Keith etc knows who this is taking about?

We don’t need to be mooning over a league one striker that doesn’t want to come here FFS 🤦. If we have a spot left fora foreign player get one in - better value
