Not expecting anything against Sheffield United.

Lets judge against Watford and Sheff Wed.

6 points out of 12 would be ok?

I sense the new owners are simply offering more of the same. Remember the 5-0 under Laudrup. He did not ease his new signings in. Michu De Guzman. Chico were all thrown in. Brave and got immediate results.

This all day long. Middlesbrough away is very tough as is Sheffield United home. Watford and Sheffield Wednesday should be a better judge of where we are. Reset after the international break when the window is closed. It's a long season and we have played one away game carrying injuries in defence and without a forward. Vipotnik offers nothing and Cullen as we all know is not a number 9. Go into the rest of the season with what we have and we will struggle to better last season, but we all know this will not be the case. Patience is needed we will be fine.

Hrs hoping
No more than that
Yrs it's a long way but they were not " tough" but mediocre
Sadly, that was enough because we were insultingly bad with excuses made again

It's the way we play

Owners ?

Hmm

Very ambitious thinking.
After watching the game today, what make you think we can beat Watford or Sheffield Wed ?

Expected goals. Only a tiny fraction of a percent higher than it would have been if the team hadn’t turned up at all.

Depressing.

Sheff Utd just got battered 4-1 at home by Bristol. Why are we not expecting anything against them at home?
If we are not expecting 3 points from that then we are accepting mid-table at best already

I think we’re more accepting that this team had a pretty disjointed pre season, has key players yet to join and aren’t yet as cohesive a unit as they are going to be.

I don’t think anybody will accept performances like that for long, but I also don’t think we’ll be seeing them.

It has to improve quickly. Pre season was awful, yesterday was poor. Sheff Utd were very poor yesterday.

It wasn't a bad performance it just wan't good either. We didn't deserve to lose yesterday and Middlesborough are a decent team. The passing was too stagnant with no real drive forward. If that is addressed in the next week or so then I expect better results which wouldn't have happened with the previous owners.

We hear that disjointed preseason story every year. It's the same for every club. Everyone brings in new players preseason.
We were awful preseason. We were poor first game. Our forwards aren't up to much and the right back is a liability.
There is still time to turn it around

I just got back from Boro and it has to be said, some people on here would have said the Titanic was going to sink before it kleft the harbour!

I'm not saying it was good, it was clearly bang average at best but it was the first game, we do have players trying to reach full fitness after getting injred in pre-season and obviously we need a better striker than Vipotnik but lets be fair, the squad was well short, it had been run down over several seasonns and getting in the required quality and assimilating them is not a quick job.
Cabango was ony 80% fit at best and weren't Eon and Ronald doubtful fot the KO too?

Therre's way too much panicking going on. Ten games in, then we'll know if we're any good or not.

It went downhill straight after they scored, they took a step back and basically said try and score against us, it went worse after galbraith got subbed, their defence and midfield was more compact, therefore no space for our attacking midfielders and striker to work but there was little movement which is a bit concerning.

A few positives in vig and tymon as per, burgess did very well, galbraith played well along with ronald, cullen was decent first half but nowhere to be seen in the second, inoussa was good when he came on along with eom, they tried very hard to no avail.

Vip was also nowhere to be seen, I dont know what the hell is up with franco, he seems to going backwards, melker just ran around like a headless chicken and fulton 🙄 i do feel for him as he is well past it, should be on the bench at most, coming on if we are winning and need to shut up shop.

Sheehan has got a job on to get it right but hoping that the news that we will be getting a decent striker plus (touch wood) the Brighton midfielder and certain players who have one back from injury and the youngster like cotterill and congreve getting gametime on Tuesday we should hopefully get a bit better.

I think you’re spot on there , after they scored our work rate and creativity vanished, and Boro knew they’d won it.Taking Galbraith off left huge gaps in the midfield that Boro exploited , their players had so much time and space on the ball they didn’t break sweat, while ours just couldn’t lay a glove on them.
Widell is not a winger and should have replaced Fulton who was so negative and slowing play down and keeping the ball in our own half was pointless, making Boro‘s job easy .Cullen should have been replaced also as he looked spent , either with Wales or even Congreve .why we didn’t launch it long quicker when VIP came on just to make their centre backs work a bit so maybe we could have picked up some loose ball and maybe at least had a shot was frustrating. This rolling the short ball out from the keeper all the time is pointless because we only get closed down or caught out anyway.

Spot on mate, I was shouting and bawling that wales should have come on, aa you say the ball should have been launched towards vip more often and you are correct re cullen and melker, cullen was good first half but anonymous in the second and melker is no winger, franco should have dropped back instead of fulton and melker should been in the middle along with eom.
