Swansea City v Crawley Town : League Cup Round 1 14:26 - Aug 10 with 11894 viewsModeratorC

What can we expect in this first round tie ?

Does Sheehan get his players beyond walking paceand show some effort, maybe even earn their crust, or is it a 50/50 game with U21’s involved ?

Just happy for the win. New players getting good minutes, goals from players in positions you want to see them scoring, Ronald on the back post and yes he missed the seemingly easier chance, Wales controlling the ball getting it into a position to shoot, not hit with a lot of power but accurate enough, and a midfielder on the edge of the box shooting. We beat what was in front of us, it surprises me that fans moaned about some of the substitutions complaining about the best players going off but we have players who started who had injury issues.
Should have been a game where they shouldn't have got the the goal to make things a bit nervous but it ended similar to last years game in the 1st round of the cup against Gillingham .

Some of our fans are clueless, starting with a decent 11 then bringing off key players is vital, shame that burgess has played another 90.

Bobby Wales deserves to start Saturday. Poor performance from Vipotnik. Is he carrying an injury?

Took his goal really well, got some pace as well which is pleasing to see, hopefully he'll do very well here.

Can't believe how bad the Swansea Centre forward is, Swansea wideman waited for him to get back onside but he didn't, so Swansea wideman passed backwards for somebody to have a shot on the edge of the area and the Swansea forward was still stood offside.
Awful absolutely awful, no excuse.

unfortunatly for the lad i agree, chalk and cheese what a difference Wales made, but do not forget with no disrespect who we were playing.
In an ideal world we could do with 2 strikers and possibly move one on, for me Vip did not look at the races the whole time he was on

I thought Sam Parker did well ,I know it was against a league 2 side but he still did a good job,he got forward well but more importantly he tracked back and tackled well and came away with the ball a good few times, good right back play, something you don’t see Key doing.

His shooting was awful. They were comfortable saves for the keeper. Also, missed an easy pass for a tap in (though last night who knows where it would have ended up😆).

He was poor for their goal.

Good prospect nonetheless.

Their goal came from a player running at us in the middle and as usual nobody stood up to him , just kept backing off like we always do with the same end result, the centre backs didn’t cover themselves in glory when the cross came in either .
Why we can’t defend against players running at us is baffling, just stand your ground against them, better to concede a free kick 35 yards out than concede a goal

Not saying it was all on him, but he was at least as at fault as anyone else.

Good prospect.

I thought it was Congreve's fault, he'd drifted in field to the centre circle before noticing he full back was running forward onto a long pass.

Any body think Vipotnik's corner clearance through ball to Ronald was spot on and between them Ronald and Inoussa should have finished the game off.

That was a cracking ball to be fair and should have resulted in a goal,to be fair Vip laid a couple of nice balls off during the game

It’s always nice to read of positives, but he really isn’t strong or aware enough in the areas it matters most in front of goal.

True but he's not there to put a couple of nice passes in esp from our box, his main job is to stick it in the onion bag and on Tues night looked a million miles away from that. Ive been hoping against hope that he would go on a good scoring run and become a Swans ledge but it just isnt happening. I think i might be in the worse than Yates camp now.

We always seem to be lacking in front of goal,we sign forwards expecting goals galore but it doesn’t always happen, baffling really especially when we get rid of them and they seem to start banging them in for somebody else.
It’s as if ,out of every 5 strikers we sign only one is a regular goalscorer, trouble is,if they do turn out to be any good,we end up selling them !! 😱😱

In European football big strong number 9 are very rare. I suggest patience with Vipotnik and intense coaching. That is what coaches are for.

Improve strength and hold up play heading if forward and defensive situations distribution and shooting.

Swansea simply cannot afford these rare player off the shelf. Piroes starts at £15m. Kuharevych made himself unpickable very quickly and was never trusted to improve. Vipotnik needs to show improvement throughout the season.

His goal away at Leeds was a momentum changer. Leeds had the three points in the bag then out of nowhere "bang". Perhaps the new Brighton guy can gets some link up understanding with him.

At the end of last season he was showing sign of muscle and strength on the ball which Cullen cannot do.

Tbh i think the only chance Vip has is if this new boy puts a shed load on a plate for him but im pretty sure the club is running out of patience with him.

His football brain isn't quick enough for to be a championship striker, no matter how hard he can kick a ball, simple as 🤷
