Young players for the sake of it? 13:14 - Aug 11 with 2059 views | ennisR | Was looking at the noise made about the squad being younger and Nourry's similar comments at the fans forum and was struck by the fact that he's like a regional manager concentrating on one KPI and the expense of all the others. For eg, superb staff retention KPI, while the company forgets to actually sell anything
Young players for the sake of it? on 13:22 - Aug 11 with 1992 views | PlanetHonneywood | Just to clarify, when you say KPI, you do mean, Key Performance Indicators and not, Key Players Injured? Asking on behalf of everyone else.

In fairness to Nourry, we were not performing any better when we had those with supposedly better qualifications in charge. A third of the clubs in the division performed worse than rangers last season again with (following your line) supposedly better qualified people in charge. Quite frankly, hiring from the same tired talent pool hasn't got us anywhere aside from a freak title win 15 years ago. Plenty of ex footballers stealing a living in both management and advisory roles, jobs for the boys etc Not as though we (as fans) have any say in it anyway.

actually said it before the season started , funnily enough .not made one comment about sats perfroamnces which in the first half was decent , issue is and will be the big problem we have no depth in the squad and even less so if the rumours about dunne , poku are true . ps preston are prob one of the worst clubs we will play thise season and they pretty much battered us sat second half

Yes Wombat certainly did, and I agreed with him. I didn't see anything on Saturday to particularly alleviate me from that view. Not necessarily the football, more that it's the first game of the season and yet again the squad is all over the place with injuries, weaknesses, gaps and lord knows what else. I don't think it's much to ask for a properly-run football club to be pretty much all guns blazing come the first game of the season. More like spiked guns, and pop guns at that. Now we are going to be forced to play a load of kids and sack off one third of the season, yet again. It won't be half way through August. I am looking forward to Nourry's masterplan coming to fruition, and fast.

Be interesting to see when Nourry next fronts up. The fans forum has obviously gone, he held a few interviews for approved channels...so radio silence until August 2026 now? [Post edited 11 Aug 14:35]

Even a non football person would say hang on lads , we have slightly over cooked this , unless all our aims from now on is survive somehow and look to sell the odd player for a few quid , cant see the fans flocking to games for two long if that is the grand plan can you? and any promising young players will soon be battered into submission by losing week in week out instead of flourishing which you would hope is the ultimate plan ? We do have a Plan dont we?

The problem with this type of model is QPR risks becoming like a Crewe Alexandra kind of club. The club needs a strong 1st team squad to at least be a top half Championship one, rather than run the risk of relegation every season.

Fair enough I do wonder in the world we didn't concede such an awful goal and that ended 1-0, would it still be a car crash season, we're doomed? I'd imagine there wouldn't be such a hyperbolic response but I wouldn't expect anything less in a football forum

We were going to play 'kids' anyway, so the coach is not being forced to. The only 'kid' to play Saturday was Esquadinha. In fact his coaching experience is with bringing through younger players. These threads are starting to mirror US politics. People act shocked/outraged when Trump does something he always said he would do (tariffs etc). Nourry has said numerous times this would be the model to get this club up the league. We as fans know this isn't going to be easy but I'd sooner watch Esquadinha than sign another Lee Wallace!

I meant being forced to play kids tomorrow because of the injuries, not on Saturday. Although I would argue that Nourry must have had a say in the Walsh choice, at very least. I don't get your US politics comparison. I didn't vote for Nourry. Didn't agree with his hiring, unimpressed with what he is overseeing, hoping fervently to be proved very wrong. Whereas I just hate Trump.

Strange all the ones you mention are the older players. Maybe if we hadn't signed younger players there would bi a few more on that list.
Young players for the sake of it? on 15:48 - Aug 11 with 1311 views | dm97 | For all the things you can chastise the current regime for - bringing the average age down and focusing on development of young players should not be the thing you choose. Comms/injuries/general double standards (we’re a selling club unless it’s the manager etc) should all be far higher. He’s right about the DS and he’s right to bring the average age down to increase likelihood of player sales. No one is buying Chair at 28.

Well exactly. Fox and Colback only managed 2 games by November for the former and 4 games for the latter by January for a joint ÂŁ30k a week. Not hankering after either of them. We do need some more players in, that's absolutely certain, and sort out our injuries. But that's no reason to tear the whole strategy up. [Post edited 11 Aug 20:11]

I agree with "We were going to play kids anyway", but I think you're then forgetting how young Morgan is! Is the coach being forced to play kids or not? That probably depends on your definition of forced. I would say that he was employed to follow the club policy & is doing so. [Post edited 11 Aug 16:57]

100% signing a Lee Wallace isn't going to help anyone. We might need to use one of the loan spots for some experience though. Just need to be careful as this team needs a strong role model character. I remember Lyndon having his best season when Charlie was showing him how to train etc.

Try reading the original reply yes crash season has nothing to do g to do with the Preston game ,first half we was decent soon as they used us out in the second we wasn’t , couple fhtta with the little depth we have in certain areas yes car crash season , even with Kone coming in we are still paper thin in to many areas . So staying up those season will be an achievement, with what we presently have to work with
