A couple of years back we had the exact approach of starting a little slower to avoid longer term injuries etc. That worked well or perhaps it is intentional. Or perhaps put pre season and fitness regime is getting it totally wrong. But I don’t expect our aim is to have a season where our team collapse after 65 mins.

Marti did have the benefit of replacing Ainsworth. I think we would have warmed to almost anyone after that.
Bare in mind he's giving interviews in a second language and his Frenchness was always going to be a contrast to Marti's cool Catalan vibes.
As I said on another thread, I'll give it 8-10 games before making too many judgements. Likely to be one or two more signings in as well so I think he deserves some patience. | | | |

Agree here. I think Steve needs to really get into this defence and shore it up quickly. Slightly surprised by the slackness we are seeing given Steve's track record. I am sure he is pulling his hair out. Or not, as the case is.
As for Stephan, almost impossible to step into the Marti love shoes but I'd like to see him a bit more angry at the bad things. He has a decent squad I feel if it is ever fit?
Hopefully a few wins changes some people's minds. My biggest worry is that QPR have been a one half / 45 minute team for seasons. This is nothing new now whatever manager/coach is in control.

Come on lads let’s cool the talk of change two league games into the season. Our new manager is trying to learn the pros and cons of 25+ players, some of whom only landed at LR less than a week ago, most of whom are young and some of whom aren’t available. He has a decent track record built up over a number of seasons albeit in a different league, give the guy some time to get the right tune out of our young but promising squad. | | | |

Even with 5 subs on we fell off a cliff .
Substandard preparation.
Who to blame is another question .

What are your specific concerns, gazza? Interested to know.
The fitness of the players is the overall responsibility of Ben Williams in his Head of Sporting Operations role. He leads the team of fitness coaches/physios and club doctor. The way Nourry has set up the infrastructure, Williams reports to Nourry not Stephan. Stephan isn’t a manager; he is the head coach. It is one of the big reasons Cifuentes fell out with Nourry, because he had no control over Ben Williams and didn’t like him being abroad, whilst the team had so many injuries.
If we’re unfit or not fit enough yet, it is entirely on Ben Williams. |  | | |

Yeh I've said that all summer but even I was surprised how quickly that away end turned yesterday. Maybe local game, big following, day on the beers etc but booing the team half an hour into the second league game... even I was surprised at that. Seems there's less patience left than even I thought.
Funny that after France I was told this absolutely was not the case and was pedalling a false narrative

Yeh he's stepped into a difficult situation for sure. I quite like what I've seen and heard of him so far. He's learning about our team and this division, and he's doing it while many key players are injured and the ones that are playing aren't fit enough to do 90 minutes. Very little, or no, blame attached to him at this stage. | | | |

I would agree.
But accountability has to rest somewhere, especially for the injuries and apparent lack of fitness.
One small thing someone else pointed out though, is that Stephan said he watched all of our games from last season. He either didn’t watch very closely or he’s bending the truth a tad. | | | |
