It would be cruel to play him against Chalton after that.

Would be even crueler to drop him, that would suggest today’s result was his fault.

He had no protection in front of him and I can’t recall him being at fault for any of the goals.

What needs to happen is stopping this nonsense of playing the around with ball in our own area and defensive third, we’re not good enough to do that and neither is Walsh.

Either way, the head coach needs to see it's impossible for us to competently keep the ball from this pointless short goal kick routine and drop it asap ffs. But especially if we persist with Walsh in goals

Shit but local

1- straight at him in the middle of the goal. Went through his legs. Dreadful
2 - no chance (although didn’t even get close)
3 - defection, no chance
4 - didn’t even dive
5 - just fell to his left, didn’t even seem to try to get to it. Dreadful
6 - ball went over his hand. Should have saved it. Dreadful again.
7 - went over his head from the far side of the box 25 yards away. Great strike but should have done far, far better.

Clearly not the only problem today but when you’re having a bad day you need a keeper that can dig you out of a hole not one that gives atleast four goals away. Either not ready of not good enough. Lumley vibes

Positioning for the seventh was horrible. They had eight shots on target and seven of them went in, not exactly a ringing endorsement of his abilities is it? He was also in goal when we shipped six at Leicester in the Cup. He's not good with his feet, he doesn't look much of a shot stopper so what is he apart from tall?

As I mentioned in the match thread, I was in line with the penalty area where the five first half goals went in and he was reluctant to come off his line several times. In fact, I can only recall him doing so once when he punched clear in the second half and the ref had blown for an infringement. I can't really blame him for the goals though as they were all very well taken.

As well as not commanding his area, he's not vocal enough. He cannot organise the defense in front of him, they're all over the place.
Needs dropping.

I'd love to know, honestly, is JS picking Walsh because he thinks he is better than Nardi? Or because that is the instructions from above?

I don’t want to criticise Walsh but really can’t see why Nardi was dropped. He’ll be back against Charlton and whole exercise has been shit. Rude and insulting to Nardi and confidence damaging to Walsh.

Strong and stable my arse.

TBF, I don’t get the Nardi love-in, he was letting in goals for fun at the beginning of last season as well. I seem to recall over the first three games or so he faced about eight shots and let seven goals in or something, lots from outside the box. He got better but dropped off again at the end of last season.

JS probably knows him pretty well from his time in France and possibly just doesn’t rate him.

Stephan is only doing what he’s told. He’s just a puppet for Nourry. Nardi is out of contract at the end of the season and Nourry wants to sell him. It’s a joke. Nardi is better than Walsh. Stephan just doing what he’s told.

Walsh did that in one game today so Nardi must be 3x as good.

I think you know the answer to that.

He was straight in the team the second Cifuentes was banished. Literally.

End of the day, moving forward neither keeper is currently good enough. Walsh is 23 and may improve with time.

I really thought he’d be good. But he’s not. Not at fault for the goals but omfg, how many times were our defenders heading the ball from inside the 6 yard box from their corners?

Thing is Nardi is not old for a keeper, they hit peak early thirties. I was behind the goal and Walsh should have saved the 6th, the 7th was a peach of a strike. Nardi will surely start next week

The decision was made before pre-season began, Aston. Certainly within the first week. Make up your mind if that was the new head coach not even wanting to have a look at last season’s number 1.

The decision was made before Sunderland away last season.

Nardi isn’t perfect (stuck to his line) but he has more experience & is a safer bet than Walsh. Unfortunately Walsh has been on the end of a few hammerings that aren’t entirely his fault but can’t help his confidence. Thoroughly embarrassed today along with the rest of the team & really struggling with playing out from the back instructions.
When re-building a team why take such a chance on a new inexperienced ‘keeper… unless it is for financial reasons?

Nardi certainly wasn’t high up on my list of issues from last season

Cooper should have been here this season fighting for the number one spot and Walsh doing what he's doing, playing on loan at Barnsley who by the way have only just lost their first game this season after six games.

Poll: Which is the worst QPR team?

Don't want to load up on the lad as it's not his fault he's being picked nor that he hasn't had any consistent game time for several years before being thrust in to the shirt...

But just as a reminder, he's now played 5 first team games this year. In those 5 he's conceded 16 goals, including 6 at Leicester and 7 at Coventry. Quite remarkable.

If Nardi isn't good enough we better add a GK to the desperation list of signings before the window closes.

I'd also add I don't believe he's had even close the right preparation for the role he's being expected to play. He's played 10 professional league games in his career before being handed the hardest job in the Championship. It beggars belief how that's been allowed to happen. A failing on the clubs part.
