This transfer window 15:35 - Aug 25 with 5025 views | Beckenhamhoop | Has there been a better one? Fans seem to be getting everything they've asked for; Hayden, Saito and Kone plus Poku, Mbengue and the resigning of Jimmy Dunne. Some of these have come to QPR despite strong interest from other clubs and even higher bids if you believe what’s been said about Saito. What’s not to like?

This transfer window on 15:56 - Aug 25 by Beckenhamhoop | Can you recall a better transfer window when other CEO’s/DoF’s were running the show? |
The only reason the club have got anything to spend in this transfer window is through players bought in by other DoFs. Maybe we should be less dismissive about the work they did?

Any chance that a new thread not actively slagging CN off is treated with respect and not pounced on as a "bot post" It's hard enough to read this board already without jumping on every single thread.

This transfer window on 16:19 - Aug 25 with 1067 views | LeedsR | I don’t see this as “winning” or “losing” the transfer window. How can you possibly say one way or the other until all the players coming in have settled in and a good few matches have been played. All we can comment on is whether or not we have identified weaknesses and have we done anything to address them. I think we’ve done that, but as always, it’s work in progress. The players we’ve brought in are the type that many of us, myself included, have been crying out for for ages. So IMO, it has been a positive window so far. On the pitch is the next stage, and of course the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and to me that’s a separate discussion. But I guess the OP was trying to gauge the positivity around our signings so far. I like what we’ve done so far in terms of signing the players. Now we need to turn that positivity into performance on the pitch. And we have a way and a half to go.

Being forced to loan out a big signing one year after he arrived, rather than getting an actual transfer fee for him is not good transfer dealing. If we get one next summer, then great - that would be a positive for that window, but in this window one of assets just left the building for no transfer fee.

This transfer window on 15:54 - Aug 25 by Hooping_Mad | You asked "What's not to like" And the answer is a 27 yr old picking the team, read the other comments we're all on the same page. It doesn't matter who we sign, they wont play for an unqualified man-child. You may not like it but that is the reality of where we are. |
It’s your reality for sure. And not everyone is on your page. Two more signings in areas we all know needed strengthening and you’re still whining. Maybe listen to Issac’s interview. Sounded like he wants to play for the man child to me.
This transfer window on 16:22 - Aug 25 with 1005 views | Kensal_Ranger | To Beckenham: I think it’s a fab window, but I have to ask you directly, what point is there bringing in anybody new, gold or otherwise, if it’s just to throw them on a bonfire of a failed footballing infrastructure? The foundational pre-season work has not been properly addressed and coordinated; that’s down to Nourry. [Post edited 25 Aug 16:26]

Surely you'd hope if not expect there to be a positive nexus between transfer activity and a resulting uptick in delivery of onfield performance outcomes? But as Brian always says, 'Fanfaimid agus feicfimid' and I think we'd all agree on that.

Not dismissive at all. I asked a question. Who knows if the likes of Poku, Kone and Mbengue were signed with money that may be incoming due to Eze’s possible transfer. I don’t and neither do you.

Good points. We also have to wait until the transfer window closes. This time last year many supporters - more so on other social media sites, to be fair - were trumpeting that summer's transfer window as a huge success. When the window closed and the games started coming thick and fast, it was obvious that the squad was hugely deficient in terms of numbers, quality and suitability in key areas of the pitch. I agree that we have to wait a while before deciding how this summer's recruitment has gone. It's also - and I mean this, I'm not just saying it to make a point - very difficult to judge right now when the squad's fitness and availability is so poor.

I’d be surprised if you’d rather he stayed! We don’t know what any arrangements are regarding his wages and his value isn’t increasing by sitting on our bench. Obviously it would be better if we recoup the transfer cost but how much are we going to get for a striker who’s only scored in one game in the last 12 months? Hopefully he’ll do a Kelman, get his mojo back and we’ll get more for him in a year that we would now.

And you don't know if they will be successful at Rangers either. At the end of the summer transfer window in 2024 I liked what the club had done, but it was far from an immediate success & we mainly relied on players that were already here - Dunne, Cook, Paal, Chair, Field, Smyth (possibly add Kolli & Frey to these). At the end of this summer I quite like the look of the business the club has done, but to answer if it has been a good transfer window, I will be waiting a few months before answering. There wasn't a window at the time, but it will take a lot to beat the summer/autumn of 1973 with the signings of Givens, Bowles & Thomas. Now that is recruitment that I approved of!

The only significant transfer income we've had this summer is from Kelman and the Eze sell-on. I do know that. And as has been said, having to loan out the current DoF's marquee striker signing after a single season is the financial equalivalent of shtting the bed one year, then throwing the mattress out the next. Not sure Brentford or Brighton will be taking notes just yet, or that this is the moment to start having a dig at Les in comparison. [Post edited 25 Aug 16:35]

Fair point. Things are clearly not right at the club otherwise we wouldn’t be getting spanked 7-1. I’m also concerned about the team spirit and togetherness even before the Coventry game. What may have brought that about, no one knows for sure.

This transfer window on 16:53 - Aug 25 with 605 views | Padulas_Shampoo | And here we have someone defending the transfer activity of the CEO by celebrating the bloke he spunked £2m on 12 months ago has left on loan. Superb. It's also strange to just write new players' names down as unquestioned successes just because they're new. As if new is automatically better. That didn't come to fruition for Madsen or Celar last year. It's obviously far too early to tell. So far we've lost Paal Ashby Edwards Colback Andersen Saito Yang Celar Lloyd And gained Norrington-Davis Adamson Mbengue Hayden Saito Poku Burrell Kone I'd say so far the only clear upgrades are Hayden and Kone. The rest are just replacing last year's numbers.
