Looks like Armstrong is available on 15:55 - Aug 27 by Northernr | I think that's the thing isn't it. Bristol apparently saw him as a raw material they could maybe craft another Semenyo out of, but he's the same player 12 months later only now with less confidence. We always said some raw abilities were there, but raw was certainly the word. Is he coachable? I kind of agree with the comment above, he's wandered in off the track team by mistake. I guess he'll have got a chunky pay rise and signing bonus for the move, was it worth it long term? I think he should have stayed where he was loved. The crowd here really got behind him, it would have given him the time and space to develop (if there is development within him) and instead he's gone somewhere for a reasonable transfer fee that comes with expectations and the crowd aren't having him. The whole time he was here these nonsense stories were being leaked about Celtic, Liverpool, Man City keeping tabs. Well, what's that done for the boy? Where is he now? Could do with a spell at somewhere like Stockport, bulling some clogger League One defenders for a good team. I said when he moved if you tell me he's playing Premier League in five years I wouldn't be surprised, if you tell me he's playing Conference South in five years I also wouldn't be surprised. |
The City crowd have been very supportive of him and he gets his name sung because their supporters can see that he's struggling/struggled. When he fu cks up, no one even gets angry - the whole ground just sort of silently looks at the floor. Heading to our game v City at the Cottage tonight. Absolutely nailed on that Armstrong will score the winner.

I think everything you say is true. But while he was just a squad player with potential for us he was becoming a cult figure with the Ireland U-21's scoring seven goals in eleven appearances in 2023/24: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinclair_Armstrong Whoever was advising him probably told him he was too big to be sitting on our bench and needed a move to a better club to fulfil his potential. And to be fair we probably should have given him a season on loan in League 1 to help his development. Pace and power can't be taught and he has no shortage of those. And no one ever questioned his attitude. It's the ball skills that let him down. I thought Bristol City and Liam Manning would be a good opportunity for him to develop, but it hasn't worked out. Difficult to see how he progresses from here.

Looks like Armstrong is available on 16:17 - Aug 27 by rbee | Northernr ''We always said some raw abilities were there, but raw was certainly the word. Is he coachable?'' The coachable part is what I remember debating just over a year ago. I suggested that you could not coach what wasn't there. No winners here unfortunately, Sinclair's career has stalled and we won't receive our add on's from the original deal. |
The basics ARE coachable: if he could learn to stay on his feet until actually fouled and practise shooting and crossing he’d would improve. The best he can offer at the moment is to come on as a late sub and run at tiring defenders but with no end product.

Sinc's has been coached for five years now, how much longer would you keep trying? Bristol City have decided after one season.

Looks like Armstrong is available on 17:02 - Aug 27 by Beckenhamhoop | He wasn’t loved by me. I always thought he was dreadful and couldn’t understand what people saw in him. Having watched him a few times when he’s played for Brizzle he doesn’t even put himself about now. Hence the accusations by BC supporters that he’s lazy. Also, I have a strong suspicion that he’s a lot of a twát. Every time he comes up on these threads I’ve said the same thing; he’ll be back at Shamrock Rovers before you know it. |
Wasn’t loved by me either, over-hyped and with a questionable attitude at times, prone to sulking when it didn’t go his way and didn’t he give himself a ridiculous nickname which didn’t go down well with the rest of the squad?

Got a 4.24 on BBC Sport, which was the lowest rating for City.

Apart from one impressive run to the byline and a cut back that should have resulted in a tap in, he was absolutely dire. Just seems totally disinterested most of the time.
Looks like Armstrong is available on 00:43 - Aug 28 with 1011 views | baz_qpr | Desperately desperately needs a league one loan or move, and I think he will tear up that league used in the right way. He started life as a winger. I always felt the way to get the best out of him would be as a wide forward so starting on the left with someone in the Centre who can be the hold up link striker
Looks like Armstrong is available on 10:36 - Aug 28 with 654 views | Konk | Armand Traore and Sinclair Armstrong on the same pitch. Wow. The two least composed finishers in English football, facing off against one another. Armstrong blazes one over the bar, then Traore almost clears the roof of the Hammersmith with a similar effort. It's a strange experience to watch a forward bearing down on your goal and to just feel totally relaxed. Lots of support for Armstrong last night, but a few singing, "If Armstrong scores, we're in the Thames " by the end. Looked better playing out wide in a two - never a central striker to me. Did a good run and ball across the six yard box late on but that was pretty much it on the positive side.

Looks like Armstrong is available on 10:45 - Aug 28 with 593 views | QPunkR | He even said himself numerous times that he sees himself as a wide forward rather than a central striker. Was only used there for us as a) he was never going to replace Chair and b) as discussed we only had donkey Dykes as our other striking option. For my part it's all a bit disappointing. I did love watching the big guy come on and murder defenders with joyful abandon

He certainly brought a dash of chaos into an extremely pedestrian and innocuous team, but it’s clear defenders have stopped panicking about his speed as they know there’s no risk.
