Rogers will be leaving soon . Celtic are a hugely profitable club who trousered 40 million from champions league football last season and have invested literally none of it back into the team. Can’t blame him really.

I paid no attention to the game , but I guess the priority for both teams was to avoid defeat following on from their abysmal Champions League exits. I agree that it is likely that Rogers will be moving on as he was let down by Celtic not buying new players to boost their chances in the competition this season. Especially as they had performed very well last season. Shame on the Celtic Board.

Rangers v Celtic on 12:04 - Sep 1 with 2234 views | SydneyRs | It was a dire game for sure (not that unusual in these derbies tbf), although as a Celtic fan I'd have taken being 6 points clear of them after this game if offered it before the season started. Both teams were coming off disappointing European away trips too which probably didn't help. Celtic did have a couple of shots on target btw (crap ones) and Rangers had a goal marginally ruled out for offside. Russell Martin seems doomed to failure at Rangers. They just aren't having him it seems. Their problems run quite deep though and the team gets an overhaul every season. Celtic have sold creative and attacking players and not yet replaced them (may change today). The free flowing style under Ange Postecoglu was so entertaining but Brendan Rogers is different. Celtic have made plenty of money out of the champions league and in player sales but haven't really invested and Rogers has been quite vocal in his views about this recently. The natives are restless about the board's perceived lack of ambition. The problems remain the same. Not much competition (or money) in the league. Difficult to attract top players and any stand out players are quickly bought by clubs that can pay higher wages elsewhere. The sneering from English fans is a bit much. Prem teams get given huge TV money every year so they can afford to buy good players and of course everyone wants to play in the prem. Give Rangers and Celtic that access to that kind of finance and I've no doubt they'd compete very well, as both have a huge and passionate support base that would fill home games, travel in large numbers and attract plenty of sponsorship etc. [Post edited 1 Sep 12:05]

Tbf I have seen plenty of big prem games over the years, hyped up to the hilt by Sky, which have also been terrible watches. Most FA cup finals also awful.

They don't realise they are now the resting place for aging Championship players and a stepping stone for foreign players.

Says he thinks they'll win that league within ten years as well, which like you say would be great to see.

By that time it'll only be 50 years since one of the big two didn't win it.

Would love to see it. Aberdeen started like a train last season and then fell of a cliff . Was delighted to see them win the Scottish cup though.
Rangers v Celtic on 18:50 - Sep 2 with 1288 views | NorthLondonR | There's actually no Scottish team called Glasgow Rangers, they're now known as Sevco (or the Huns). Someone will undoubtedly correct me I'm sure. The 'Blues brothers', Sevco, Linfield and North Battersea, try explaining that to a modern north Battersea fan... it'll blow their mind (for 20 seconds) until they watch the latest ticktock

I find it funny that people always say that Rangers don’t exist since 2012,but don’t say the same about Middlesbrough, who were wound up in 1989.Or any other team who were shafted by dodgy owners, like Wimbledon,Bury,Darlington or Southend. Are Wimbledon not allowed to say they won the FA cup in 1988 because they had to start again in a lower league? Or is it because of their fans that they aren’t allowed sympathy for following their club after their demotion?

Rangers were liquidated and expelled from the league due to years of corruption and deliberate financial cheating. It wasn't just unfortunate financial problems that struck some of those other clubs. They never paid their debts, just allowed the old club to die to avoid them. Somehow Rangers are still also claiming the trophies they cheated to win, so sympathy is in short supply.

No it wasn't the fans, but it doesn't change the fact that corrupt and dishonest ownership allowed the club to die. And it is the fans that still try to claim all the trophies won during the cheating period, hence the endless "55" references last time they won the league, without a hint of irony.

If by some horrible cheating the same happened to us,would we not be able to claim our one and only trophy? Will Man City fans not accept the trophies they’ve won if they get done for financial doping?

If we won it by having a better team that we'd have had without the cheating (the situation with Rangers for quite a few years) then it wouldn't be right to claim it in my view. You'd normally expect honours to be stripped in this situation. Happened to Melbourne Storm in the NRL here when they were caught breaching the salary cap. Had two premierships taken off them. Another club had to play an entire season for no points after they got caught (and also were demoted from first place to last the season before). Lance Armstrong was stripped of his tour de France wins. Athletes lose gold medals years after the event. Fans shouldn't get to "accept". If you've cheated to win things, you should lose those titles. Should have happened to Rangers and should happen to City if guilty.

I don’t think there are many fans of any team who wouldn’t celebrate trophies won, however they were won.I don’t see fans of Real Madrid disowning their early European cup wins because they were financially bankrolled by Franco and the Spanish state.Or the Spanish titles they won during that period.

Its not about the fans claiming them or otherwise, the authorities should strip honours won if a club is found guilty of cheating to gain an advantage during the relevant period. You can try and claim honours stripped, but nobody would take you seriously. Rangers were guilty of cheating in how they paid players and of massive tax evasion, all of which enabled them to sign much better players than they would otherwise have had. [Post edited 3 Sep 8:50]

I don’t disagree with you,but they haven’t and they probably won’t with Man City either. But the vast majority of fans of any club would still celebrate those titles won(?) and I reckon that includes us.I don’t remember many of us not celebrating at Wembley in 2014 because we bought players that we shouldn’t have been able to afford to get us promoted.
