I've worked a quite a few projects , major refurbishments ,new infrastructure so I've always equated a project to an inanimate object(s) so I can can never understand why the term project is used to describe the development of human beings ,such as footballers .Maybe its just me but whenever I hear the term used as a description I always think of Young Frankenstein or something similar ,mind you the Club has had its far share of horror stories. | |

They certainly could have but did not want to. Their model was based on the perceived genius if Huw Jenkins. It f he can get Swansea to the PL on no investment think what he could have done with a modestly enhanced transfer budget |  |

When HJ and the others took control of the Club all those years ago their 'project' at the time was 'Save the Club'. Nothing more. No other thoughts/ideas/projects would count for anything if that wasn't achieved.
Once that was successful they would then have thought what more can we achieve. And without being able to ask them the question i'd imagine they thought it would be an absolute dream to get to the Championship. That was probably the limit of their imagination at the time. Then they reached the PL.
So then they had an absolute global brand behind what they'd achieved but, at the end of the day they were still just local businessmen. Successful but still just at a local level. Out of their depth ? Unable to take the Club further hence the initial sale ?
Compare that with the current owners. Their first thought I would imagine with all they do in business is with a global outlook. Owning a football club in the championship wouldn't fit with that. Promotion to the PL has to be their target otherwise there's no point.
So that might be the 'project'. Getting to the PL. At least that would be the level our minds would work at. We'd all be hysterically happy to get there again. But would getting to the PL and just sitting there be enough for them ?
In their minds they may be thinking what can we do next, what extra level can we get to after reaching the PL.
Next level would involve infrastructure investment - bigger stadium to start with.
One of the questions many people probably asked when they bought the Club would have been why Swansea ? Swansea's not that big. And it's out in the sticks sort of, the end of the line. What about Clubs in bigger cities ? Couldn't they achieve more with them ?
It might be that they bought BECAUSE we're 'at the end of the line'. The Brady bunch bought and are investing hugely in Birmingham. But just up the road are Aston Villa, Wolves, West Brom, Walsall ( ). Here we've got the whole of West Wales. There's a few saddos like Pembroke Alan down West but all that area is essentially Swansea in football terms.
The problem with that is, for the most part, when we were in the PL very few of them could get tickets. If that is part of the 'project' then a bigger stadium is essential.
And they may possibly say that where the Liberty is sited doesn't have the space for all their plans. So lets go to Velindre and build something really exciting which would be so much easier access wise from West Wales and also from the East. And big enough to accommodate as many as want to come.

You're not thinking big enough. To start with it is close to the motorway and transport links can be improved, buses like they do in Leeds every home game that ferry thousands of people around the area.
The pubs, well they are dying out but at a new build ground they can build their own and make ALL the profit from beer and food sales. A genuinely captive audience, all they have to do is get the quality and procong right.

When we were in the PL Velindre was often discussed when the topic was ground extension, the land is there w but there is talks or maybe they've started about building one of Swansea's largest housing estate. | |
