Yeh but no but, in the year of, I made the decision to, it was a mistake, but yes but no. Cummings eat your heart out. Human beings will never change will they left or right. Didn't she make a huge thing about tax avoidance and tax dodgers before the election?
The "Working Class" are just people with the same failings and weaknesses as any other artificial social demarcation - I don't subscribe to this salt of the earth patronage any more than I would define working class membership in terms of things like a cor blimey accent or dress, like a Harry Enfield parody of a Kwik FIt Fitter. FOr what it's worth Angela Rayner was guilty of naiively hoping that keeping low or a week would allow things to blow over. She's not a criminal, and she isn't so stupid as to imagine she could get away with underpaying tax. It's clear that she did receive advice from somebody and those who gave it are now running and hiding like cowards, lest they pick up any of the odure rebounding off the VentAxia. Her mistake was not to get unequivocal professional advice in writing. Every politician knows sthat every action they take will be subject to minute scrutiny, Rayner especially - they may be foolish, miscalculating or even stupid but wilfully fraudulent? No.
The lawyers acting on her purchase of the Hove flat are far from running away. They have come out and said;
1 They don't (and are not qualified) to offer tax or Trust advice 2 The stamp duty was based on the information she provided.
The question is,' what did she disclose to the lawyers or did she get advice from another source ?

There were a lot of people trying to find a way to get her and it really does seem as though she has been caught on a technicality and hounded out of office to me.

Compare her to Nadhim zahawi. Yes she fooked up but nothing on his scale. Right wing media bias

She was told by the 2 advisors she spoke to, to get seek 'EXPERT TAX ADVICE' on the home purchase which she ignored .... for somebody in her position that is not a silly mistake, it's either really dumb or it's deceitful. Sir Laurie Magnus, the independent adviser on ministerial ethics ruled she had broken the ministerial code.
End of story.

Meanwhile you are doing that exact same thing, you are trying to justify what Rayner did. Tory supporters try to justify their team, now you are doing the same thing while deriding them for doing it. Incredible blinkered views.
Now, say after me ... "they are all the bloody same"
Better now?
I am not justifying what she did at all. It is quite possible that it was a genuine mistake, in which case she has paid a high price. If it wasnât, she has still had to deal with the consequences. Personally I thought her position was untenable whatever her intentions. Given the stick she had given out to the corrupt Tories she was never going to be given an easy ride here. Live by the sword, die by the sword. The gammons will be relived that she has gone. She made mince meat of them. As a result of the changes we now have a âleftyâ Muslim Home Secretary. How do you feel about that? đ

I voted Labour at the last election, namely because the country was in a mess, to give the other a lot a go and because of all the scandals you mention. I am.not particularly one or the other, but am again fed up of those in power, not following the rules,.especially when they strongly suggested the scandals of the past were not to happen under Labour.
I am very disappointed (but not surprised) that a "working class" woman, who professed to be the perfect tax payer, to follow the rules, to be strongly against any form of poverty, to be on the side of the workers, the disabled etc was part of agreeing to take away winter fuel payments for pensioners, to attempt to take away money from the disabled, and now to not properly pay her taxes.
It's not about who is worse, it is about someone showing a totally different face when in power, and that goes for Starmer too. The Tories are exactly the same, that's not the point. With this lot, change was promised. Why can't those in power, especially those who strongly profess it, just follow the rules and serve.in the way that they said they would? Did you think for one minute think that a Labour government would attempt to take.away money from the disabled, all pensioners, not pay their taxes and cosy up to Donald Trump? Theybsaid they would smash the gangs, they said they would be on the side of the workers etc. All a load of lies, just like the other lot. Once in power, they all show their true colours right?

Another party that have just shot themselves in the foot and after only a year most people want them out as they are worse than the tories and that is saying something. Just full of lies, we won't tax you more etc, well this is always the Labour way, no ideas even after 14 years. What have they been doing all this time? It just confirms I would never vote for Labour.

You seem very hung up about race. You are most certainly the only one mentioning race in almost all your posts. I wonder if there is something inside you that you are in denial about, hence you project onto others?

Agree
I agree - this should have been posted on the 'Non-Football' and assumed it was.. As with Angela, I should not have assumed but more thoroughly researched before acting...
Just to (hopefully) now close on this as questions still need to be answered:
The value of her house up North: How was this valued? ÂŁ650k is an extremely convenient point for the stamp duty threshold? Also, the house seems to have been valued way higher than any similar property on that street. Why and who valued it?
Her sonâs trust already owns 50% of the house, and has now acquired a further 25%. How does this benefit him and was it the best use of the trustâs funds? Trustees must always act in the best interests of beneficiaries, not for themselves.
Farage is lambasted for hardly ever being in his constituency, how does this square with Angela claiming Hove is now her main residence? How, on top of her other jobs (Dep PM, Housing Minister and Dep Leader of Labour) could this allow any time for constituency visits?
She says she took expert advice which her conveyancers have now emphatically denied and her defence of âI didnât know/understandâ doesnât wash at all.
This means it is very hard for me to be sympathetic Iâm afraid. Hopefully HMRC will now conduct a thorough investigation and maybe clear her name.

Keep politics out of football...forums
No, keep them in.
Given Saints two relegations in three years and the constant pathetic control of our club by Sports Republic itâs a refreshing change to be able to think and comment about something else.

This country is bonkers. Hundreds of 70 and 80 year olds arrested today in parliament square for holding up a bit of cardboard. Their crime is to be against the purposeful starvation of children. Nearly a thousand officers drafted in to arrest mostly pensioners. Yet we have a 20 billion black hole. Money to burn.

If the are dumb enough to break a law then they must take the consequences. It would make more sense if they campaigned for a change in the law that made their actions criminal. Of course if they sabotage military planes they deserve time being locked up. Self righteous arrogant fools.

Yes, it's very interesting that people break the law everyday by stealing from my local shop, burgling houses and drugs out of control, no.police available they say, but there are thousands of officers available to arrest 80 year olds, because holding up a bit cardboard is breaking the law as you say.

I'd recommend watching the Palestine Action self-made documentary 'To Kill a War machine' if you haven't already. Watch it and you'll see why the government has taken the step to ban the morons. The bill for repairing the two RAF planes damaged at Brize Norton incidentally is ÂŁ7M - and guess who's going to have to foot that?

If those planes are so valuable how come they were protected by a fence that my Gran could have got over ? And ÂŁ7m to remove some red paint ? Starmer defended people who broke into war bases during the Iraq war saying it was an act of conscience. Now heâs prosecuting pensioners for holding a placard using the same laws used against extremist groups. Itâs a farce of their own making. The police are being used and put in an impossible position by the Govt. Over a 1000 people arrested. Looking forward to seeing the courts completely clogged up. They wonât even be prosecuted making it even more of a joke.

It's a bill of ÂŁ7M because they sprayed red paint into the engines which caused all the damage.

Yep, and itâs suggested that last time there was a protest a member of the Metropolitan Police arrested a man whoâs tee shirt actually said â I support plasticine action â and another a blind man in a wheelchair.
Should make interesting court cases if and when they finally get in front of the beak.
