Big Jim will be pleased that we are well rested after our midweek York postponement whereas Braintree Town played on Tuesday night losing to Tamworth 2-1.
Should be a really good home crowd with a feel good factor around the club and the players performing well on the pitch.

Just reading that Braintree only have 15 fit players for the clash today. Thats tough for them. But they are no mugs and managed a point against Forest Green recently.

Comfortable win. Second half was a bit disappointing and I felt we took our foot of the gas and let them come into it. I thought Gilmour was excellent.

Aye disappointing we didn't chase for more goals. But fair play to Braintree who didn't give up. Agree that Gilmore was superb. Our young keeper is very comfortable.
Teams around us all picking up 3 points so we can't afford to relax. Onto Truro.

Very good first half when we were a different class to Braintree - we could and should have been 4-0. Literally toying with them.
The second half was for the most part a non event as we allowed them to take control as they pressed us higher and our midfield (particularly Ryan)struggled to regain control.
Hopefully we will not do that against the better teams in this league otherwise they will punish us.
Disappointed that we did not improve our goal difference, that Mani did not get his hattrick and that we didn't see Mancini.
Despite these minor quibbles there were some very good performances including young Whatmuff who made a good point blank one on one save after half time.
UTD.

Good win. First half was excellent, some fantastic football and we should have been at least four up. A combination of our performance dropping and a spirited revival by Braintree saw a bit of ‘after the Lord Mayor’s Show’ second period.
Some earlier subs may have helped and there’s a nagging feeling that we need to find a way of ensuring the squad we have is involved enough so that when they’re needed from the start they’ll fit in seamlessly. But you can’t argue with the results and entertainment on offer so far at Spotland this season.
Got the job done well enough, sloppy at times though in our passing and defending - a better team would likely have punished us. Can't complain but expect Jim will be demanding better. Gilmour ran the show in midfield but Mani was the difference, last season we may have struggled to win that.

Could and probably should’ve been more. Their keeper made an amazing save to his right early on from Manii’s header, but from then you could see there was only one team going to win this game. Win was never in doubt really, but we allowed them to take control for a period of the second half. Gilmour was immense, as was Barlow. Gordon sloppy at times which you could see he was frustrated about, and will no doubt reflect on. Got to be happy about that though, just a shame we couldn’t capitalise on a few more chances. Things are looking good, just need to ensure we perform against the better teams, that will be the test.
Special mention to EEL today. Thought he was excellent in keeping Akinde quiet and bailed out his defensive team mates, particuarly in the opening stages of the game. If we can keep the spine of our team fit, we've got a good chance of being succesful this season.

He has had a good start to the season. He looks fit and mobile after his long term injury and a good preseason.

A solid win, that wasn't easy to come by. Credit to our lads for the 3 points.
First ten minutes, I christened the ref Braintree Braintree such was his biased incompetence. How he loved Braintree in spite of the facts.
One for TVOS: Have we ever won 6 of our first 7 league games before? Can't fault 18 from 21, but then we remember Brackley... Silly Jim.
Great start.
The Scunny game seems to have been controversial re: its abandonment. unless newer facts are available?

Maybe if we hadn’t rested those players that game we wouldn’t have picked up the points we have since, the butterfly effect! Who knows? Be grateful of what we have. I don’t remember a start like this, I don’t think we should find any room for complaint.
Being fair to the Braintree gaffer he was pretty spot on.
Mani / Barlow / Gilmour all having a superb first half.
Should have had at least one more goal before half time. Braintree to their credit did a lot better second half and you could feel the home crowd go a lot quieter including U block and our drum..
It’s 3 more points… another clean sheet at home and we have scored 9 goals at Spotland now in the four undefeated home games… onwards to our longest away trip of the season to Truro…
There is a big test coming up I am looking forward to seeing how this group performs with 3 Saturdays against Southend / Carlisle and FGR.. there is the test we will know October 4th if we are the real deal or flat track bullies.

However, in 2001/02, we won 6 of our first 7 games in all competitions, as there was a League Cup win at Huddersfield amongst 5 league wins and a league draw.
Something else we've also achieved is the most points (18) after 7 games, beating 17 in 1991/92 & 2001/02.
I know that's distorted by 3 points for a win being awarded since 1981/82, but this season's 85.7% of the available points is the best ever after 7 games.

The game seemed to change once Braintree made a couple of changes at halftime and started to outnumber Dale in midfield. In comparison the introduction of Pettit could perhaps have happened sooner? It’s a pattern we’ve seen before; Dale totally dominant before the break but not capitalising on chances and then falling away in the second period. Tarryn alluded to the difference that Mani D has made in his post match interview and he makes scoring look so easy. Rodney, in contrast, had one of those infuriating afternoons where the ball kept bobbling away but their number 4 was obviously under instructions to close him down quickly. I’ve nothing but praise for Whatmuff. So fearless and made a crucial save from Akinde after a rare casual pass from Gordon had given the ball away. Deserved recognition for Gilmour’s efforts as well, he’s tireless.
