Managerspeak from their gaffer
The 9 The 9 The lad The 18 The 8 The 9
It all made perfect sense though. I don't expect him to know the names of our players. Refreshing and honest interview from a manager with a paper thin fit squad

Just noticed the Scunthorpe game was abandoned again! A Wealdstone player got injured and the ref called game off? Wtf. Dangerous precedent set now. Shoulder injury - nothing more and Wealdstone players said they were traumatised and wouldn't play on. They were losing and had made all their subs. š¤
Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10
Very good first half barring some misplaced passing, but a feeling that we took our foot off the gas after the break against a team who looked a class or two below us. I hope this easing off doesn't come back to bite us. Better teams than Braintree would have punished us for it.
Still feel that we can do better, but overall it's been an excellent start to the campaign.

Much more serious than a simple shoulder injury. He was given morphine via a canula on the field, he lost feeling in his arm and shoulder and had difficulty breathing.
More morphine was administered in the dressing room and two doctors attended him to reset the shoulder.
He was detained in hospital overnight for further treatment and is due to have an MRI scan later. Already predicted to be out of action for several months.
However, in 2001/02, we won 6 of our first 7 games in all competitions, as there was a League Cup win at Huddersfield amongst 5 league wins and a league draw.
Something else we've also achieved is the most points (18) after 7 games, beating 17 in 1991/92 & 2001/02.
I know that's distorted by 3 points for a win being awarded since 1981/82, but this season's 85.7% of the available points is the best ever after 7 games.
Thanks, TVOS

What I was getting at was it wasn't life threatening. There's no way that game should've been allowed to be abandoned. Obviously a precedent was set the previous game but that involved players unconscious or badly concussed and it was the 98th minute so completely different. It will just become a farce soon if it's allowed to continue - I think the league need to issue some guidelines before it gets worse.

Felt sorry for the ref there. By all accounts followed the correct procedure consulting the NL and PGMOL but what could he do if Wealdstone were reluctant to continue.

Itās a brilliant start, one which everyone would have taken before the season began. Yes, thereās no argument that the Brackley game was a big mistake, but a standalone one made since the campaign began.
Any talk of it being a ālesser levelā, whilst strictly factual in football pyramid terms, is not only very āOldhamā levels of entitlement and disrespectful, but also ignores the poor standard of sides that existed in opposition over the years when we were in the Football League. But the two page thread after a win tells that story well enough anyway. The obligatory defeat against Southend should ensure Chaffās website traffic stats increase again.
Anyway, itās good to be watching a record breaking team, one that plays decent football and scores goals. The season gets tougher from this point onwards, so would rather be going into that on form.

And the referee had to take into account the impact that the severity of the incident had upon the players team mates. Some were apparently quite distressed.

Well he didn't. He told them to finish the game but they refused.

Some players were traumatised by seeing what had happened to their teammate. From a mental welfare perspective Wealdstone were correct in not sending them back out, they are held responsible for the players welfare, not a referee or league official who are unqualified to assess player mental state.
The other side
Wealdstone cynically used the injury to get the game abandoned when they were losing 2-1 with little time left on the clock. Their actions were not driven by player welfare.
I think it will be very hard to prove āThe other sideā without being in the Wealdstone dressing room at the time to be honest, no matter how many people suspect this was the case.
