Contactless debit cards 15:17 - Sep 6 with 3390 views | BklynRanger | As if the postings on here couldn't get more interesting, has anyone of a certain age/ludite inclination noticed their ability to use their actual physical debit card getting phased out? Mine seemed to be required to be inserted every 3 goes or so for the last few months, and now it's stopped working contactlessly altogether. Personally I don't want to get my phone out all the time, usually twice because I hadn't stuck my thumb on it properly the first time. If there is a final straw this may well be it for me. What happens after the final straw is anyone's guess. (Possibly nothing). [Post edited 6 Sep 15:21]

Yeah that's fine. I'm more worried about the global conspiracy, Big Crypto forcing us to use our phones etc. Like with the season tickets but on a larger scale. I should probably check with the bank first.
Contactless debit cards on 17:32 - Sep 6 with 2097 views | kensalriser | I don't do anything money related with my phone. Is paying with a phone better/more convenient than a card? Admittedly I regard mobile phones generally as something of a nuisance.

I was sceptical at first but once I set up Apple Pay it’s quite easy. Just like a card really. If I’m going somewhere for a long part of the day (i.e a QPR game) then I’ll take my card too just in case the phone battery runs out though I tend to take a power bank as well, cover all my bases! Edit: oh and I think contactless goes up to £100 and more than that it’s put the card into the machine + PIN whereas Apple Pay is a much higher contactless amount [Post edited 6 Sep 17:41]

Were it not that I need a mobile for banking codes, mine would see the bin. Don't forget the nationwide alarm at 3pm tomorrow though…..I suppose those without a mobile would like it and lump it !

I've recently put all my cards on my phone, payment card, membership cards, loyalty cards etc. I no longer have to carry a wallet which for me is great. Should I need some cash I slip it in my phone case. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

How do you get cash out of an atm if you haven’t got a bank card with you?

Surely its more secure as it requires you to unlock / authorise the transaction rather than simply tap. Quite like the simplicity of it, even more so using my watch which also has my season ticket on it.
Contactless debit cards on 20:06 - Sep 6 with 1761 views | ted_hendrix | I have a debit card and nothing else. I have a mobile phone with a few known contacts on It, If I'm checking some of my saving accounts that I've got I will get a code sent to my mobile phone so I kind of need It, I didnt buy the phone my Lad gave It to me as It was his ex Managers Company phone. The only good thing about the phone Is the Apple car play with my I-Tunes on It. I hate phones, they are an Intrusion to a normal peaceful day, some f ucking minge walking down the road talking shit to some other piece of minge shit, f uck right off with your verbal crap waffling down my lug holes. Woman from Insurance Company; ''Oh Hi Ted, It's Wendy calling about your Insurance renewal, How's your day going Ted''? Me; ''How's my day going? like you give a f uck how my day Is going, f uck off'' Woman from Insurance Company; ''Ah''

Decent pair of noise cancelling headphones and putting your phone on silent pretty much solves most of those

With full respect I don't see a modern cellular telephone fitting into one of those card slots without severely damaging it (?!)
Contactless debit cards on 22:53 - Sep 6 with 1390 views | BazzaInTheLoft | Sorry for the tangent, but there is a big row kicking off in my town's biggest Facebook group. Half the town want to become a cashless society to stop the Kurdish barbers and vape shops money laundering and the other half want to keep cash so they can stop paying tax for asylum hotels.
Contactless debit cards on 23:49 - Sep 6 with 1326 views | Bluce_Ree | I made the switch from actual wallet to Google Wallet. It's just easier and it lets me include any loyalty cards so it's all in one place. Your Tesco Clubcard, Boots card etc. And my three debit cards. I only ever need a physical card for when I go to Costco for petrol. Aside from then, the wallet stays home.

Contactless debit cards on 05:40 - Sep 7 with 1084 views | enfieldargh | Up until about 18 months ago we had a customer who ‘paid’ his account by sending us cheques by second class post and only after umpteen phonecalls , no wonder the biz is on its last legs Many pay at pump petrol stations don’t have touch facilities. Think we are all heading for a bit of a fall with all this.

I think you're right. When precious metals trade at record levels in a backdrop of huge sovereign and personal debt globally, you know the proverbial is about to hit the fan. That's before we consider how gold has and maybe still is, massively overtraded! When it all went south in 2008, that was a chance, possibly the last chance, to reset the lot. Instead, we took money from the masses and looked to pay banker bonuses first, and just kicked the can down the road.

I just look at atms and contactless machines and the transaction/ withdrawal is complete. Another app links my vital organs to centrally controlled AI software that alerts me when I need to shǐt, pïss, eat, vote etc
Contactless debit cards on 08:02 - Sep 7 with 859 views | hubble | Don't want to get all political, but basically we lose cash at our peril. I suppose it might be Canute-like to try to stem the tide of the cashless, top-down controlled, surveilled society that we seem to be heading for like lemmings, but I would encourage people to keep using cash.
