Definitely and the Arsenal bloke (Madueke sp?) stood out in both games. Thought Rogers last night looked solid.

Think Wharton at Palace also looks good, but playing without Anderson in the middle suddenly looks inconceivable.

When you look what was on the bench and think of who England didn't even have in the squad (Bellingham, Sako, Palmer, Field, and I suppose if they return to form, Grealish and Foden) there's a lot there to work with.

Played really well!

I don't think you'll see Grealish in an England squad again.
Foden is young enough to come good again. But look at the competition and tell.me who you leave out of that midfield to accommodate the 2 above.
I still don't think we have enough striking options. Nor am I convinced about the defense.

I like the central pairing, think they're solid. Not sure James' body can be trusted or he's been really tested. But hey-ho.

Not for me to decide who to leave out, but it's better to have the headache of choice then not at all. But you're right about up top. If Kane is out/off form...

we played a lot better in terms of, yes we had all the possession as with v andorra, but last night we raised the tempo and got at em, they don't like it at em! andorra was too like a training ground exercise but we looked a different team last night.
serbia already had crowd issues hence 15k seats unsold but still there was trouble, player hit by something, lazer lights on pitch, constant whistle from crowd ( not wolf whistling proper ref whistle) and their own fans having a hoo haa!
lets see what UEFA do next.

I'd love to see Wharton get a go alongside Rice with Bellingham as the 10, Saka and Grealish out wide

good thing England have is options though and they really need to use those in the group phase of the world cup and keep key players fresh for later in tournament

Iโ€™d have thought Madueke is an alternative to Saka on the right while the left wing doesnโ€™t have a such a clear first choice and is where Grealish has started well for Everton. Iโ€™m not a huge Bellingham fan but assuming heโ€™s the most attacking central midfielder thereโ€™s then various options including Eze, Palmer, Gordon, Rashford, Foden, Bowen. You know heโ€™ll take Rashford as thereโ€™s not much up front beyond Kane and Watkins so itโ€™s a hell of a choice if they all have reasonable seasons.

different positions but just think Grealish is a better player. Madueke's an excellent back up for Saka

Who has these on their World Cup Qualifiers Coupon?
Ecuador beating Argentina
Bolivia beating Brazil

I see Bolivia hosted Brazil at the โ€œEl Altoโ€ stadium. Fairโ€™s fair!

PS no effect on qualifying, all pretty much settled already.

If everyone is fit I think Eze will struggle to make the squad.
The 10 position - Palmer, Bellingham, Gibbs White and Rogers.
left of a 3 - Rashford, Maduake, Gordon and Grealish (if he carries on his form)
Right of a 3 - Saka, Bowen, Foden (sorts himself out),

Lets hope he smashes it at Arsenal and gets in.

Smells like a trout farm in here

He was poor in the last game but think he'll get in the squad if he has a good season, will probably be 26 players again

I personally wouldn't take Bowen

Much more direct from England, this could be a launchpad for the Tuchel era, although he and his team will really be judged on how far they progress in next year's World Cup.

He seems to be willing to pick the players that best suit his playing style, rather than the old way of just trying to shoehorn the same old big names in, Lampard and Gerrard being a good example.

Long may it continue.

Given how bloated the World Cup has become (48 teams FFS) you've really got to be quite terrible (or Scotland) to not qualify.

Just another thing that has got worse

I was watching the post mortem on Irelandโ€™s defeat in Armenia on RTE (Kevin Doyle not happy) and theyโ€™ve given up on qualifying after two games. Half of their remaining group games are against Portugal, mind.

The other thing about a bloated finals is it creates lots of low interest games in the tournament proper, that drags on so long it outstays its welcome. Rugby World Cups have the same problem, compounded by the need to leave more recovery time between matches. Less of a tournament, more of an era.
