Not read it yet, but a question to be asked is: what made the change to last season's decision to keep Cifuentes from being interviewed?

I think there have been tacit admissions over the summer that they got some stuff wrong 12 months ago and have acted on that in a positive way which is to be welcomed...

- Sticking the foreign pre-season games behind closed doors was reversed this time.

Great piece Clive.

Got all the key questions in there. And I thought JS came across really well in how he answered those questions.

But I wish he would stop saying "top, top"

It triggers my Post Traumatic Redknapp Syndrome.

Oooh an actual interview with a QPR manager.

Nice one Clive, cheers!

Thanks Clive, it’s really good news that the management appear to have recognised the value of being more open with LFW.

JS generally comes across well. One part where he was struggling was in trying to answer the question re team selection for Plymouth. Despite twice stating that it was his decision, he couldn’t help but then refer to ‘we decided’ a few times afterwards. A less than convincing reply.

Yeah, agreed on that answer - he comes across well, and I honestly think that saying "it was my decision" is him taking ownership of what happened, even if it wasn't actually his decision.
Think that speaks very well of him as a person and leader in my opinion.

Also, very impressed with how much his English has come on, to come across that well in your second language is incredibly difficult, but you can hear that he's a charismatic person and can build connections with players.

Overall, very impressed, and thank you Clive for getting this interview.

What is the training ground like? I’ve only seen bits in photos. Is it impressive? Or is that an exaggeration?

Agreed JN. We all know sometimes in management we have to implement actions we may only partly agree with, however if we go ahead with it we have to own it too. Feels like JS is doing that, so fair play to him.
He came across well, his pauses felt more thoughtful than thinking of the ‘right’ thing to say. He definitely comes across as a decent manager and someone the players will like and follow. As you say a good leader and his English is getting better and better.
Well done Clive. Nice to see you getting access to JS and to put forward fans questions and feelings.
Short and sweet.

Great last question!

I’m not sure i agree on fitness response he gave. But overall, I really like him. He’s French and still learning English but his response on the (in)famous game model made the most sense to me. And also on how they do transfers. Also, very comforting to hear so much about “adaptation”.

Well, fair play to QPR/CN then.

My favourite bit is where he throws his Merlot over Clive for asking if he picks the team.

An obvious question that couldn't be asked is the goalkeeper situation

Even if asked I'm sure there wouldn't be a direct answer. But unfortunately Walsh is not really up to it at the moment

Thought the fitness answer was actually spot on. Preston and Watford was a tale of two halves for both teams. And seems that we are not alone in being "under cooked"

This Saturday will be a real test and be interesting in how we handle an away fixture after Coventry.

Also the money answer... was interesting, got the feeling we are not exactly on the bones of our @rse....

Glad to see this back... and feel the more that is revealed about the Marti era, is telling. There was not much trust or love loss there

Agree with the other comments about how far his English has come on, and the extent to which you get a better sense of what his style is - he's quite a charismatic guy I think?

Great interview Clive proper questions..he came across well and realistic about us as a club ...consistency and winning more home games is a good aspirations. His dream to work with the same set of players for 3 yrars a bit underwhelming...a cup run top 10 or even top 6 as a dream would be nice to hear...but yes he is being realistic ad we have to be and have been for a few years now.

No mate, it's a bit of a no-no to send your list of questions over in advance of an interview.

I had a discussion with Paul about potential talking points, but post Cov they were pretty obvious to anybody who's been reading the site.

So, on Walsh, I did have it on my list but I pulled it because he's a 24 year old lad obviously having a bit of an awkward time. Is it right to sit there talking about individual players in person in that situation? I'm sure JS would have dealt with it professionally but it would have put him in an awkward spot. I decided it was better to ask the more general 'how much flexibility do you have within the game model' question instead.

There were a few considerations like that around putting this one together...

- Time. We'd previously get an hour, which is a long time and is unusual to get that sort of access, this one was limited to 30 mins so there's probably some follow up questions or pushbacks that I left hanging to make sure I covered what I wanted to cover. My 'rule of the stairs' question I do wish I'd asked is whether the transfer plans had changed after Cov - particularly the Hayden signing. There's always one I kick myself for afterwards, and this time it's that one.

- It's his second language. As others have said you can see quickly his English is improving, but it does add a different dynamic compared to speaking with Ainsworth/Beale/Warbs.

- The reaction of not only JS but also the grief online that Dave Mc got for asking a 'who picks the team' question last week. I thought that was absolutely a perfectly fair and legitimate question from Dave, but JS wasn't a fan clearly so you don't want to antagonise him you want him to engage and open up, and the online mob absolutely set on Dave for asking it. I've had my fill of that over the past month or so. So we had to give some thought to how you basically ask that same question in a more conciliatory, perhaps less abrupt way. I think we did that.

- The relationship between this site and the club obviously hasn't been terrific for the last year or so, that's been pretty obvious I'm sure, we're trying to build some bridges and work out how that relationship is going to work moving forwards. I could have gone in there really abrasive, confrontational, but is that going to help me, help the club? Probably not.
