I noticed that Henderson hasn’t been in the last couple of squads, is he injured? I am presuming so, unless I missed it havnt hear anything come out of the club

Be interesting to see if he features on Tuesday along with the likes of Burger.

I don't think he's injured, there are just others ahead of him in the squad and results back up that decision.

He's been involved in the pre-match warm ups and has been sat on the bench wearing the training gear, so his input is still invaluable.

A wise man would be able to self-analyse and perhaps understand.

Who would you have hin on the bench instead of? I suspect that those who have not been starting regularly will get a game on Tuesday.

It is a long season I am sure he will make some positive impacts along the way.

Hendos fine, saw him training at Platt Lane on Wednesday.

I mean he should be retired so I guess he's happy picking up a regular wage and still being involved every day. He's probably been told he will play National League Cup games and possibly FA Trophy games this season and maybe the odd League game should we need him.

Sitting behind the bench recently he was in the coaches training gear and jumped up a few times to get in Jim's ear, similar to the role Doney has. Looked to me he is being used in that type of role when he's not playing

He'll have his day soon, besides,he's in his prime.

Far too good to be a bit part player.

If he needs to be used as a sub due to his years, fair enough, though he looks as fit as anyone to me.

He will be needed for sure when Amantchi goes back at New Year, if he stays that long.

Why would you think Amantchi wouldn't stay. Walsall clearly don't need him and we do. His chance is likely to come with more playing time this week particularly on Saturday in the absence of Mani.
I doubt very much that when he came he was expecting to be first choice. Hopefully he will prove his worth in the next few days because he really should be a threat at this level.

He featured in all Walsall’s games for the last two months of the season getting good minutes in most of them including a few starts.

Not a clue about any of their squad this time around, but he might start thinking he could be on the bench in L2 rather than here if he doesn’t start to feature more regularly. Of course, there could be loads we don’t know about and everyone was well aware of the role he’d play.

We will certainly need Amanchi if Mani carries on getting yellow cards! 5 in 8 games is going some! Yes we want a target man with controlled physicality because with Mitchell we had zero physicality but he will miss an awful lot of games if he continues how he's started the season. It's disappointing that the first occasion he had to show some more control knowing that he'd miss the very important Southend game he got booked again. Yes in an ideal world we could've been 2 up at ht and he could've got subbed to protect him but Jim chose to keep him out there and now we miss him Saturday. Does Jim need to have a word? If we don't win v Southend it will certainly be highlighted that we will have missed our number 9. In a perfect world it won't be an issue and we win 2-0.

Definately the cards are a cause for concern but i am not sure you get the same player without the physicality and aggresion.

I think Mani's style of play will always leave him at risk of picking up a booking, he's gangly and awkward and mixes it physically with the central defenders. I think its something we have to accept, the upside of how he plays is there for everybody to see. Leave him alone i would say. We aren't a one man team and Amantchi is more than capable i think, Hendo has nothing to prove when it comes to putting the ball in the net. It's the other end of the pitch that interests me. I think the manager has reflected on last season and maybe feels as though we were too open as a team when we were leading games, dropped too many points and lost games from winning positions. The Southend Play Off game being a great example. I think this could be the reason we have become more defensive minded during the second half of recent games, rather than pressing on. I'd prefer us to defend from the front and play in our opponents half but sitting deep has worked up to now. I do think its a conscious decision from the manager, i'm not having it that our opponents have been good enough to force is into giving up so much ground.

The same debate used to be had about Hendo

I once got very aeriated after he'd been sent off at Wigan, just a couple of weeks after being sent off at Boundary Park. I think KH must've had a word because he toned his aggression down just a notch after that, or realised himself it was turned up too high for the good of the team. Hendo would now be in a good position to have the right word with Mani. It's just another skill to acquire for a long and successful career

We had it with Holty too. He managed to pick up 16 yellows in 04/05.

I think "attack is the best means of defence" is not in Jim`s playbook.

Whether he's been unlucky? I cant honestly remember his 5 bookings or referee's are being more strict but last season he got booked 5 times in total! https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=72487&season_id=157

The Southend game is a great opportunity to send out a clear message to the Rochdale public that these players are the real deal. It's really important that we now look to start increasing matchday attendances and a win on Saturday will take the levels of interest around the Town up a notch or two. We had several excellent opportunities to do this last season and we blew it each time. Let's hope for a front foot display and a win, the players are more than capable of doing that and after further investment in the squad and on the coaching side i think the Ogden family will expect to see us put in a entertaining performance. I have full faith in the players but i always have a nagging doubt in these bigger games that the manager will over complicate our game and we'll revert to slow ponderous possession football, showing our opponents too much respect. Either that or he'll throw in a daft team selection or stupid substitutions. He's at his most dangerous when it comes to these type of fixtures. I can't help it, sorry. I want him to throw them the ball and tell them to go out and play, attack and score some goals. I also want Done and Taylor to speak up and remind everybody in the changing room that we are top of the league and playing at home, so let's put on a show and put a marker down for the season going forward. No fear.

Saturday represents a huge opportunity to send a clear message to title rivals.

One team will win the league from the Big 6 unless there is a massive left field run from one of the remaining 18 teams.

This is our first game of the season against one of the big 6.. below in the order I think are most likely to finish champions... Dale are in the 6 but i will leave out of below prediction..

1. Carlisle
2. York
3. Southend
4. Scunthorpe
5. Forest Green

Dale we hope as a mimimum are top 7, hopeful top 6 but i could not predict if we have the guile and attributes to win the whole thing or settle into the chasing pack.

One thing for sure we have a great chance if we push on a little further.

Just to add... not that i think they will win the National League...

Boreham Wood have only lost once all season and that was the opening day 09th August.

They are having an excellent start to the season.
