Should be illegal in the UK, along with Kosher butchery and any form of animal handling that doesn't work to the highest humane levels. I'd include factory farming in that too.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Both Halal and Kosher slaughter without stunning should be banned in the UK.
The Muslims can go to Muslim countries and the Jews can go to Israel if they don't like it, barbaric practice.

My second job was in the food business
I went to the Abattoir that slaughtered the meat
An eye opener

Halal and kosher animals are killed in accordance with religious thousands of years ago
It’s a way of killing that means adherents can sleep at night after eating

We have to stop religious practices like this

No chance

Wasn’t even a religious practice originally, the method of bleeding whilst alive was effective at preserving the meat for longer in hot dry countries as the bleeding and subsequent desiccation prevented/slowed down bacterial growth. An animal killed by say a blow to the head would rot a lot quicker. It’s harder to remove the blood from a dead animal than a live one because coagulation occurs almost instantly.

Completely unnecessary in my opinion.

I’m also very uncomfortable about stories where shops and restaurants have it as their default position without making it very public they’re doing so.

I’d like to avoid it at all costs but I’m not sure I have the information to do so.

That is appalling. Can they explain why? Can they be held to account? Is there an alternative?

Don’t upset those who come here from foreign lands & don’t worry about those who have British values.

It’s the country we now live in.

I think it's a option every day as opposed to all meat served.

Down with me it's available as a 'special diet' so provided for individual children on request.

It seems that Cowbridge led the way with this policy and most or perhaps all of Wales followed.

I would guess that it is probably prejudicial not to provide dietary needs dependant on religious requirement.

But what if persons of a particular religious persuasion objected that it was against their beliefs to be forced to consume meat from animals that had been slaughtered inhumanely? Clearly, we do not have the resources to cater for too many religious factions, and it would seem to make sense to go with the preferences of the majority population, possibly with one alternative. The current policy would seem to support the argument that the wishes of the majority population are not paramount.

Kids who need to eat Halal should bring a packed lunch. It should not be served in schools.

Indeed so, and it will be interesting to see if people remember decisions like this when the Senedd elections come around in May. Of course, Plaid are just as woke as Welsh Labour.

Special diets seem to be getting more and more prevelant.

Around 10 years ago there was one hot dinner and one pudding.

Today in my place, the options were:

1. Main meal
2. Vegetarian
3. Vegan
4. Gluten free
5, Dairy free
6. Hot and Cold pudding choice.

There were around 12 children wearing allergy lanyards because they don’t ear specific foods.

The kitchen is also nut free.

No requests for halal or kosher but could be requested.

It's not compulsory its a choice, whether that is right or wrong is another thing. But by current law you have to offer the choice.
