The English refuse to use the official name of Wrexham's home 19:15 - Sep 24 with 3281 views | ReslovenSwan1 | The Swansea.com stadium is used by the media as the sponsor has paid for it. I was interested to see how the media would respond to a Welsh ground name . They have ignored it completely. It is unacceptable to ask English people to use Welsh names. Camp Nou is ok but not STOK Cae Ras. https://www.wrexhamafc.co.uk/supporter-information/stok-cae-ras We have to fight for recognition. No English person will use the correct name as it is not English. ( Or Spanish or Italian ) They will quote Mesella and even province the LL as a Y I am not going to cry tears over this as we have been whitewashed out of existence for centuries.. the Nou Camp and Princes Park are great European stadiums. Stok must be a bit unhappy. Just saying.

The BBC refered to it by its new name so not sure why you are having another one of you anti English rants, especially as you posted in English not Welsh. [Post edited 24 Sep 22:36]

Not blaming them for sponsoring it, but the rest is just cynical. The Racecourse, like the Vetch, had a bit of history and identity behind it. It’s hardly a hotbed of Welsh speakers anyway. I’m all for naming new things in Welsh, but I’d have been fuming if they’d tried to change the Vetch to the Welsh equivalent.

More Welsh spoken on Swansea I guarantee the locals will be referring to the Racecourse in 20 yrs time , if they are still going , that is Welsh ! Again dividing See?

That’s my point. Wrexham play at the Racecourse. Changing it to Welsh to appease people who watch them on cable is a bit of a slap in the face to the long term, local fans and the clubs history IMO

This misses the point. The Liberty was opened with a sponsors name, as virtually all grounds are these days. It’s never had an organic name, unless you count the White Rock, which I think was just a working name until they agreed a sponsor. Old, established grounds like the Racecourse and the Vetch have history and kudos. Changing them to hoodwink people overseas into thinking Wrexham isn’t an anglicised town where very few actually speak Welsh is both cynical and showing no respect to the clubs history. I was annoyed when Monster munch sponsored the North Bank for a bit

Not an anti English rant at all. I am just asking why they decline to use the stadium sponsorship name and easy to pronounce Welsh name. They make an effort for Spanish and the Mestella. I want to promote good Welsh thing and Welsh people properly and with respect. It is a sound set of principles. I could use Welsh on here but it is an English forum. Stok must be a bit disappointed.. The English commentators flatly refuse to use Welsh words. Why not? We are supposed to be a union. It is no surprise there is no support for anything Welsh on here. Even ethnic slurs are Ok as long as they are sung by urban English people of any race (including Asians) at Welsh indigenous people. Outside this narrow criteria it to be stamped in ruthlessly especially for easy European Slavs. [Post edited 25 Sep 16:57]
