but for some reason you just don't.
When I say "supposed to like", I mean I like the genre of music, I know people love their music, I should like them based on my other tastes but actually I can't bloody stand them.
Here's a few of mine..
David Bowie - never heard a track I actually like
Iggy Pop - supposed to be an icon but again I couldn't name a single track
Foo Fighters - I love guitar bands but I just don't get them
Eminem - I love plenty of rap and people worship this guy but I can't stand his whiny voice.

Paul Weller / The Jam - just not my cuppa
The Clash - love a lot of bands from the punk era but for some reason just struggled with them
Chemical Brothers - really loved The Prodigy and other similar acts of that era, but the Chemical Brothers were a bit much for me
Dropkick Murphy’s - love folk / punk, but they are just……errrr, fake Irish shîte

The Beatles - nope, never did get the hysteria. A couple of tracks were ok, but to this day, just don't get it - especially their later stuff (or rather guff).
Elton John - utter dogshit. Can't stand him or any of his music.
Bob Dylan - I'd listen to his stuff... if I was about to top myself.

This is a big admission as I feel that whenever I have said this it has caused universal consternation.
I have just never been able to get into The Beatles euphoria. I like some of the songs they have produced (and they did bring a new era to music) but I have never been able to admire them in the way we appear to be expected to in an almost religious sense. |  | | |

Coldplay and Snow Patrol make my list. Have either of them ever produced a happy song? NO? Just the same monotonous dreary dirge over and again.
Pretty much anything in the bubblegum pop and/or boy/girl band genre. There are probably half a dozen each boys/girls who all sound the same and I certainly can't tell them apart. For instance, Jessie J, Dua Lipa, Rita Ora, etc Just not for me.
Bruce Springstein. Basically has made the same four chords last for decades in his brand of Americana and "Bored in the USA" sums him up.
I have a huge gap in my knowledge and perhaps appreciation of popular music from about 1985 when my first son was born to 2000 when my youngest son was born. In those years a number of more important matters occupied me so that today I struggle to appreciate anything from that 15 years.
Music I will either turn off or switch stations if it comes on - Beyonce, Elton John, Guns n roses, T'Pau, Wham, Take That, (have met Gary Barlow who seems a nice enough type but thankfully he was talking and not singing).

Lennon and McCartney were hands down the greatest songwriting partnership of all time. It was like having Mozart and Beethoven in the same band.
George Harrison was no slouch but he couldn’t get a look in either.
People will still be listening to the Beatles centuries from now. There is no other band with that level of genius.
Their cultural impact was immense. I hate to think what pop music would have been like now if they’d never have existed. |  |

I grew up with Will and have told him many times that for someone who's mum had such good music taste (motown, atlantic records, and tons of northern soul) it's incredible how he's managed to make some of the most bland music going.
I've noticed a few mention queen here and in the past i'd have agreed but they were Elijah's favourite band and now their songs hold a different meaning for me so i don't hate them anymore.
As for me i think most have been mentioned already, but U2, Coldplay, Spingsteen, AC DC and also (probably controversially) Nirvana, who were just a cheap rip off of the pixies or fugazi for me |  | | |
