Overtaking National Express coaches – Report on 06:53 - Oct 3 with 2693 views | ParkStreetRanger | Thanks Clive, that report describes the evening perfectly. I took an Australian friend (and family) to the game. He hadn't been over for 25 years. The one and only game at Loftus Road he'd been to before was the 2001 six nil reversal against Arsenal in the FA Cup. And I took him to that too.

Interesting about your Oxford correspondent making Cook our best player. Looked like he had a point to prove to me and I reckon he proved it. I am sure he will leave at the end of the season, but I reckon he's one of the most under rated and unappreciated players we've had in my time of following the R's, relative to commitment and ability. Still think he will be important this season and the Morrison / Cook axis at Brizzle is going to be back in play.
Overtaking National Express coaches – Report on 07:58 - Oct 3 with 2471 views | stevec | I’m convinced this is a mental thing now. Someone’s no doubt pointed out, 4th place if we win tonight, and they’ve promptly shat themselves. To be honest, if I was on half a mill plus a year and I sensed promotion meant finding another club in the summer or a long spell in the reserves I’d be having serious doubts about the ramifications of that line above 7th. Not sure what the solution is, I don’t think we’re the only club that has this issue.

A fit Cook is indeed an asset, but it seemed he might be finished after the injury he picked up last season and slow start to this. He's hugely important if anywhere near his best.
Overtaking National Express coaches – Report on 09:11 - Oct 3 with 2187 views | TheChef | Cheers Clive. Couldn't make the game; glad I couldn't! Positives? Erm well we didn't lose, and we kept a clean sheet. Hoping that the manager has learned something from that, although slightly disappointing to hear him defend the team selection. Maybe he can't openly blame himself in every post-match presser? Onto Bristol and hopefully a return to width and pace, with Burrell starting.

Overtaking National Express coaches – Report on 09:15 - Oct 3 with 2167 views | E17hoop | I decided to record this before we left for the game and wondered what Mackie and Warnock had to say about it. After the fame, Warnock suggested it wasn't a good idea for Stephan to explain the rotation because it would 'give the team an excuse on Saturday'. We will see.

Overtaking National Express coaches – Report on 09:37 - Oct 3 with 2075 views | Andybrat | I get the rotation but not the choice of who. Surely Kieran Morgan deserved to play in the middle 2, Odds on Burrell and Frey starting Saturday. I actually thought Frey played well and great to see Steve Cook fit with JCS and Mbengue out tomorrow. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Overtaking National Express coaches – Report on 09:59 - Oct 3 with 1975 views | fournil | Great report as per usual. For me it isn't necessarily the players that were wrong it's our quality and decision making that always let us down when we need it most. Examples - fantastic ball from Madsen - Smyth gets to the byline perfectly and then just smashes it straight across the six yard box into nearest defender. Anything, and I mean even the worst scuff that goes backwards towards the penalty spot and we're 1 up. It's such a simple concept that will be regularly (like daily) drilled into wide players but we fail to make the right decision. Strange square free kick to Mbengue - often works as it draws the first man out and you slip your free man in - here it was Saito just one easy pass from being in a glorious position to shoot on goal. What happens - wasted long shot that never had a chance. The lack of quality on the final ball was ball-achingly painful as well. RND had numerous opportunities to deliver a whipped cross and managed 0 of any real purpose, often hitting the first man. Smyth beats his man all ends up - is away and should be bearing down on goal - instead his second touch is so awful it sends the ball the opposite direction and is somehow tackled by the defender he's just beaten. Frey making the wrong decision to shoot when he had 2 players in advanced positions and the defence exposed. It feels like it is catching when you are watching it, like the players try to out do each other in who can provide the most wrong decision or least bit of quality. I guess that's why I'm looking forward to seeing Chair back as soon as possible.
Overtaking National Express coaches – Report on 10:11 - Oct 3 with 1919 views | BrianMcCarthy | Couldn't agree more about decision making, fournil. More and more I'm convinced that at our level the difference between good players and average players is often just decision making.

Overtaking National Express coaches – Report on 10:30 - Oct 3 with 1846 views | thehat | Love this Clive - Some wonderful sound bites in there to bring a smile on this horrible, rainy morning. I know I am in a minority here but I get the team selection. After watching oh so many games where our fancy 10"s have been bullied and beaten I guess we didn't want that to happen in this game against a Gary Rowett team that had just done that to Bristol City. We could easily have won the game 1 v 0 and everyone would be saying the tactics worked. (fine margins and all that..... copyright Mark Warburton). Anyway onto the next one........Come on you R'rrs

Overtaking National Express coaches – Report on 14:40 - Oct 3 with 1225 views | NorrisGreen | Yes. I wish we had a Bannon or Brannigan in our team, a cussed deeply competitive player fixated on winning via any means possible. We seem to be a team of very shy and reserved players. Mbengue might be a headcase but he's not really a leader or someone who will set a tempo and mindset. We have midfielders who just float about.. we need a Shaun Derry m'lord.

Can you be colonoscopied ? It might help purge the congealed Fondue and Raclette in his low block.

Overtaking National Express coaches – Report on 21:39 - Oct 3 with 583 views | ManinBlack | Top quality report as ever and summed up better than I could ever put it. The frustrating thing is we should have played the strongest team to beat Oxford and at least have 4 points for the week. It seemed we had more of an eye on Bristol than on Oxford looking at the team selection. If we lose tomorrow then 2 points from 9 is a poor return. We all know when we make wholesale changes to the team for cup games we invariably lose which is why so many lower league teams knock us out. In Wrexham's defeat to us, they identified their defence lacked pace and subsequently they have played defenders with more pace. So there we are facing Oxford at home and take all the pace out of the team and hey presto, we look useless in the final third and create absolutely nothing. Frey's shot on goal was described by Sky as our best chance of the game. I would not consider a 25 yarder by Frey as even a chance to score. In true QPR tradition we played two teams in the bottom 3 and didn't win and looked reasonably lousy in both. Quality in our squad is still in short supply but at least we have some pace now. I think we only had one shot on goal at Bristol last season and escaped with a point. Bristol are unpredictable like us so you can't be sure what to expect from them. They won 3-0 at Wednesday while we laboured to a draw but then lost at home to Oxford so one expects they will play better against us.
