I won't be there, but seriously if you don't like the event, don't go. Posting this on a football forum is arguable but Nick allows other topics and politics to be hosted in here. Nick has already addressed this and he says he doesn't mind. People can agree or disagree, that's fine. Isn't this the same person who keeps having a go at Le Tiss? If so, utterly ridiculous but we can't keep cancelling people because we don't agree with them. Everyone has a right to protest and he is announcing it. And everyone has a right to put political threads on here, as long as Nick allows. Ignore the thread and don't go if you disagree. There is no abuse here. [Post edited 23 Oct 14:43]

You have to accept that other people have different views and opinions. To stop people saying their views because we don't agree, won't stop them thinking it and it won't stop them living amongst us. If threads like this get instantly banned, people with controversial views would just go underground, it won't take these people away. Allow people to express themselves, agree, disagree, discuss or simply ignore. If people have views, we can't ever change minds if we don't discuss with them to try to change their mind. Everyone has a right to express their views, whether we like them or not. We live in a democracy or should be. [Post edited 23 Oct 15:22]

Southampton Fan has covered my thoughts on political or for that matter any subject on this site, especially the second paragraph. I might agree or disagree with a lot of the views on here, but I don't gag people just because i disagree with them, as long as a post does not express extremist views and advocate violence, homophobia, racism etc and a number of other views in the same vein I tend to leave it up and monitor it to ensure that it doesn't get out of hand. If you disagree with a viewpoint, challenge that view, discuss it and try to change it, it might not change the posters viewpoint, but it might change someone else reading it. If i delete a post then no one learns from it or changes their viewpoint

Or, if we ask really nicely, perhaps we could persuade the people smugglers to do a round trip special and take Solak, the rest of the SR muppets and 'we can't compete' Parsons back over to France. From the beach they will be landed on the can hitch a lift as far as Lens or Lille and set about taking one or both of those clubs to Ligue Trois. And a Channel joke for the rally, just to lighten the mood: An English cat called one, two, three and a French cat called un, deux, trois have a race across the Channel Which cat wins, and why? The English cat one, two, three wins Un, deux, trois cat sank

The whole thing is f*cking ludicrous in Southampton of all places, I’d take a guess most people on this board have at least one family member who’s not English, and more of the nippers I grew up with in the city than not had at least one parent who was an immigrant. We’re the gateway to the world ffs, our city is built on immigration, we have a french quarter and bevois valley. The windrush sister ship landed in our city, polish pilots who fly in the raf moved here, we’ve had Asian families as part of us all my life and there a reason I could swear in Punjabi before I got to secondary school. Leave the closed door ideas to the skates, we’re Southampton not them [Post edited 23 Oct 22:56]

I do think people are entitled to be annoyed or worried about unchecked, unknown people risking their lives to cross the Channel on a dinghy. Families with 6 kids living in a one bed flat don't get given accommodation with food and medical care, nor do some of our homeless (who may be British born or not) but come over on a dinghy and you get a room and food. People who may be concerned by this particular thing for various reasons, can still be grateful for those wonderful "immigrants" doing a wonderful job in the NHS, disgusted by the Windrush scandal (as these people were invited), happy for known people to come over through less dangerous means, if they are coming over to work etc. [Post edited 23 Oct 23:24]

The anger for me is aimed at the wrong place though. It’s the pr*cks with the money we should go after instead. For me, and the Southampton I grew up in, there were two types of folk. C*nts and not c*nts. That was it. You come to Southampton and act a c*nt you get called out, you come here and don’t you’re sound. All this divisive sh*t is embarrassing and not our city and never has been, leave that to the skates

Who are the pr*cks with money though? Haaland? - he earns about a reported 10 million a year. Starmer himself, even Corbyn are millionnaires? Most politicians are at the very least well off from all sides. I assume you mean those with billions, I agree it would be great to share it out, nobody needs that much money, but they are so rich, they just move their money elsewhere. How can you "go after them"? They would just get in their private jet somewhere else. The government just needs to get a grip of the boats, which is a problem. Then there would be no need for further protests. The government and the previous government are causing the divisions in my opinion. They are not being honest about the problem, whilst taxing working people and small businesses into insolvency, they will no doubt try to reduce welfare in the next budget by hurting the disabled or the poor, but there is 6 billion a year (so I have read from research) to put those on a boat into hotels. This is never questioned or reduced. [Post edited 23 Oct 23:57]

The pr*cks with money are the people who get the most benefit from dividing us. The political classes, the owners of media and social media, the large shareholders and those who benefit from running the social services down to privatise them. I guarantee we’re more at risk from losing our jobs because shareholders aren’t making money than we are anything else, and they’re the biggest problem I see right now [Post edited 24 Oct 0:05]
