Backroom staff anyone??

Who left when Warbs did?

No one left when Warburton left.

One thing that intrigued me is that in the video interview on the website he specifically mentions Chair as a home-grown player from the academy - perhaps hinting at the academy's focus shifting from the younger age groups to picking up players in that 16-19 range?

Blimey. 😳

The best football coach in the Country, bar none.
The Coach all the other Coaches learn from.
How did that happen?

What’s going on?

We should be told.

Sort it out.

Certainly comes across very well in that interview and says everything I wanted to hear as a supporter - make LR fortress, Warbs established a good base and he wants to build on that, mentions current players (Chair) who have potential, develop youth, whole club aligned, meeting fans, etc. And so Michael Beale begins life as the main man. Good luck to him and I hope this goes well for all of us.

Definitely a finker

Says a lot about the club if we can attract a mangaer so lorded and a chance to enhance all the potentials. Might attract some decent talent to the club. Players aren’t shy in talking about coaches and managers to each other.

This is very much a Les appointment so I hope it works out better than the last one he went to bat for which was JFH
Good to see a different approach with someone highly thought of before someone else gets him
Personally I would have liked an Alex Neil type manager to see if could have a go at the play offs
But I think this manager could be what we are looking for

Warburton was an appointment lead by those people from the same process.

Given we had no idea who this bloke was a few short days ago was intrigued to watch this.

It’s a tough job going from anonymous analytical coach to front man for the whole team and there were a few too many “projects” in there for me, maybe a bit of media training to seem like we’re less like a stepping stone in his own personal career, but that’s just PTSD from Hughes.

About the best appointment we could have made IMO, it’s a gamble and might fail but well done the board as every Rangers fan I know is up for it, he’s clearly fking talented, and you can’t argue with the ratings from other fans.

The Pros — its the excitement and ‘freshness’ of the unknown. A name that (being honest) few would have heard of, but with an excellent coaching pedigree. Expectations will be measured because he is not (yet) a ‘name’ and comes with no previous baggage, save excellent ‘technical’ recommendations from those in football ‘in the know’. Could be just what Rangers need right here, right now — a hardworking safe pair of hands who will coach well, develop players and keep us rolling along just fine in the centre of the Championship.

The Cons — QPR as a first ‘proper’ manager/head coach/whatever job is no easy gig, no sir. And even if things work out ok, where is the fun/excitement for the fanbase in a successful ‘accounting exercise?’ Moreover, if we have the ‘temerity’ to stray towards the bottom 6 this autumn as Beale’s methods take a understandable while to ‘bed in’, what will the reaction be?

Overall though, I have to be surprisingly positive. It looks as though a lot of dedication, thought and time has gone into this. It was never going to be easy for the club hierarchy post-Warburton (still sad writing that) but this does seem to be an appointment made with diligence and realistic intent. Let it roll.

Am I to believe from all the videos/interviews etc that Steven Gerrard is basically a figurehead at Villa (and Rangers before?) - deals with the media, attracts young players who grew up idolising him and lets Michael Beale and Gary McAllister do all the actual management work?

Steven Gerrard has called us a massive club

Is that enough evidence for you?

For me, this appointment is just the sort of thoughtful risk taking I want to see at the club.

Regardless of how it turns out, I believe Les, Hoos, and the owners are to be applauded in getting him.

It also speaks volumes about where we are as a club that he'd chose to come here, as I very much doubt he's the sort to just jump at the first opportunity at management.

tbf, I've called Steven Gerrard a massive cock in the past, doesn't mean he has.

Thoughtful risk is the best description of the situation I’ve seen so far.

I wonder if he crossed paths with Clint Hill at Rangers, probably too late. He wouldn’t be a bad appointment to the coaching staff.

On sale around the catering outlets next season, in tribute to our new head coach, treat yourself to a plate of Jellied Beales.

Yes he'll be very much judged by his first signings as to the direction we're taking.

Hoos interview on offy about new head coach.

https://www.qpr.co.uk/videos/interviews/hoos-interview-020622/

Couple of things.

He mentions that we have players here that a new manager will want to work with, he rolls of their first names, one being Andre (Gray). Slip of the tongue?

Also mentioned, still in discussion with Adomah and Barbet. No mention of Odubajo.

Smells like a trout farm in here

I hadn’t twigged why Jermaine Defoe has this strange last act at Rangers until I realised he was a youth team player with Beale at Charlton. Obviously a strong bond there.

I listened to the Training Ground podcast on my run today, great stuff. He’s a bit life-coach in the way he talks but the You v Yourself stuff applies to any of us. Interesting also that he said he didn’t have a set style, that was all conditional on the ability and character of his players.
