The season 25-26 squad thread 10:22 - Apr 13 with 18298 views | ngbqpr | *July 8th updated...* As far as we're allowed to know, / as at present advised the following are contracted for next season. I have included dev squad players who had first team minutes last season; Harvey Vale; also added Esquerdinha in unless we sign another LB, and Richards back in after his appearance vs Stevenage; + Santos as the option to buy wasn't taken up. GKs Nardi / Walsh / Salamon CBs JCS / Morrison / Cook / Mbungue FBs Dunne / Adamson / Santos / Larkeche / Esquerdinha Midfield* Chair / Dembele / Field / Madsen / Varane / Vale / Smyth / Morgan / Bennie / Sutton / Poku / Richards / Dixon Bonner (* obvs in a 433 some of these play as wide forwards, but I reckoned it was easier to bunch them in here, and keep 'strikers' to those playing centrally up top and charged with leading our goals for column). Strikers Celar / Kolli / Lloyd / Kelman / Frey [Post edited 10 Jul 8:29]

The season 25-26 squad thread on 16:16 - Jul 9 with 2181 views | Loft1979 | All- I think the Kelman debate deserves watching. I think the conversation of worth/ comparisons is interesting too. Kelman out performed Jay Stansfield and every other league one striker, in total goals. Also, watching the highlights of the Stevenage 'game,' his goal contribution was hopefully a great preview of how his role and product has matured. I would have no dissent if Celar was relegated behind Kelman. I also hope to see Kelman called up for the USA squad too.
The season 25-26 squad thread on 22:10 - Jul 9 with 1908 views | HammersmithR | I heard today from a very reliable source we are signing a keeper essentially a back up one. No idea on the name. A bit surprised as we have so many.

Dixon Bonner missing but according to reports the club are looking to find him a new home so won't be on the list very long.

Good spot, will pop him back in for now, as minutes last season (however few) qualifies you for the list.

The idea here is surely to send Walsh out on loan, get him 1st team football. I think he's League 1 ready and not far off being able to compete at this level, certainly too good to be rotting on the bench. An older vet GK who's happy to be second fiddle would be cheap and give us that option. On EDB, Dave Mc made a comment on twitter that plenty of clubs have been interest, but he's got an inflated view of his choices and where he thinks he should be playing.

We can't seriously be considering a new offer for Colback?

I wonder if it's a very low ball offer hence his not accepting it immediately? He'd be okay on third choice money but I doubt he'd want to accept that?

Here's the thing....... If you offer someone £1k a week but they feel they should be getting £5k and they go and look elsewhere but come back as no better offers then surely they are signing up begrudgingly. You are unlikely to have them giving it 100% unless they are of course the consummate pro... not many of those about in football I feel. I'm aware t=of the LFW glossary so I wont go there but...... Players like this need to be on Contracts with heavy incentives from both a team, squad and personal level. It's the only answer for me.

On a non-contractual appearance based arrangement, obviously.

Yes, based on a peicemeal approach that pays an agreed amount for each tackle, successful pass, assist, goal etc. achieved by the player.

If we are it better include financial penalties for yellow and red cards

If you mean win/scoring incentives I'm not sure that would work either because presumably you don't get those if you're not playing. And frankly I only want him playing if we're desperate. I don't disagree with your point in general though.

That’s Colback’s personal loyalty system. The collection of cards is the modern day equivalent of painting enemy planes on the fuselage once shot down. Maybe we can get them on his shirt instead of the star for winning something…. I appreciate what he did when he applied himself but let’s call time Gentlemen, please.

Colback will be 36 this season. The DCMs will be Field and Varane, but we do need a backup. It's not clear from the rest of the squad, if anybody could cover that position. Would Jack be prepared to settle for being 3rd choice. And he was rumoured to be 1 of the highest earners. So the offer is accept being 3rd choice for 2 places AND take a huge wage cut. Say 1/3 of what you were on last year. As for Fox, is he happy to compete with Akindileni for 5th choice CB?
