I would love to know the dynamics of the boardroom table, I cannot believe the manager had much of a say on the transfers. Individually all good signings but football is a TEAM sport and today highlighted the problems we are going to encounter. If the manager had a say in the decision making, I take it all back. Less is more as we say in the real world.
I have been the director of a football league club and the manager should be the man who rubber stamps every deal that is signed (Cannot see much evidence of that at present.)

Consulted and involved in a discussion before Montague does his bidding. Like many managers these days he says what he wants position wise and the experts go and get them.

The definition of "rubber stamps" - a person or organization that gives automatic approval or authorization to the decisions of others, without proper consideration.

I don't think this is what you meant to say; I think you were trying to say that the manager needs to have a voice on the decision-making of all player-personnel transactions, which I'm pretty sure is the case here with Sheehan and his relationships with the Montague & Worth team.

Cheers.
I find that rather amazing, but thanks for the confirmation.

It's not like the old days where we would sign a player from another side in the same division because they'd scored against us.
These days the software system has vast details on the attributes of someone who plays in the Serbian 2nd division.
Sheehan couldn't be expected to know anything about most of the players they consider.

with apporox 7 and a bit days before the window slams shut there is plenty of time to sort the issues player wise both out and in that are still aparant, a guy like Vip ,as i have said before needs to knuckle down and improve himself, as unfortunatly his performances to date speak for them selves, the goal yesterday showed when he attacked the ball and put it past the keeper impressed me but his all round game is not up to the mark at the moment, and if he is not prepared to be part of the "team" then the club should not want any bad pennies , not saying he is but its down to him

He seemed "part of the team" yesterday and all the player's appeared to want him to do well as did the supporters. When he scored the players rallied round him Franco in particular. I don't think there are any issues between the players and supporters with Vipotnik, it's just he's not performing well enough regularly.

Even if Sheehan had NO say in who the club have signed you have to admit that all who we’ve bought are going to add serious value to the squad and the club. Galbraith will bring in a big fee on his own . Stamenic is the type of midfield player we have been crying out for - a real big unit whose tackles made me wince from the stand and has great feet and a great eye for a diagonal pass. Got himself ypfied and only Ronald’s shithousery denied him an assist. Inoussa has to start, terrified the Watford defence and Widdell did well too. I’m thoroughly optimistic that this crop will keep on getting better and better. It is only game 3 remember, a lot more gelling to be done. But it’s looking good already.

Let's look at the cold hard facts with Vip.

In the championship this season he's played 41 minutes (plus extra time) and scored 1 goal which = 1 goal for every 41 minutes played.

On that form with 3,870 regular minutes left to play this season he could bang in 94-95 goals if he plays them all and we'll be a Premier League club next year!

Still want another striker in though!

He's already top for goals per minutes played in the league! Last week I was the only one on here defending him, so it's nice to have a few more. OK, one more!

i agree , and said so, but only saying he needs to improve himself for his own esteem, am wodering is he fully fit or not? but against Crawly he was way off form and agree the players were and i dare say are with him, but going on reports he is not happy when the club say they are looking for another top striker does disrupt what is looking like a happy"ship" hopefully it can be sorted to everyones satisfaction, but in my opinion another stiker is needed

I dont think people dislike him, he just hasn't been upto scratch as a half decent championship striker.

Vip cones across as a decent guy, who is obviously liked by his team mates.

First of all , few players are “ hated” by fans as individuals
I mean Wrexham have McLean as club captain
It’s their ability as a footballer that is questioned
Now then, having failed to sign three strikets , it seems we’ve given up
Or have he

Yes , we still need one

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Patrick Bamford has been told he can leave Leeds as he doesn't feature in their plans, Yes or no? Personally I would prefer someone younger.

You’re very right, what’s probably pissing him off is that he knows that if we spend big money on a striker that striker will be first choice, and the only way that VIP will get on the pitch is as a bit part player.

It’s going to take a lot more effort and hard work to take the shirt from a big signing.

The Derby game under Sheehan last season was a revelation for me. Looking at the midfield now we almost have two complete midfields, one traditional style of quick and short passing, but easy to bully off the ball, the other solid and physical which you need against some teams.

I think that Vipotnik might (might) do very well playing in front of Stamenic. Strikers are always a bit mercurial. Change how they get service and suddenly it's a drought, but then again a guy who's doing nothing useful, given support that fits suddenly becomes prolific.

And then there's the influence of Galbraith.

Forgive me, but how is a defensive holding midfielder going to have a major impact on our no.9?

It would allow a more forward thinking midfielder to be in a position to work in conjunction with the forwards, having a number of midfielders able to both well in both attacking and defending roles is also a bonus, if the midfield is forced deep to assist the defence then the attackers don't get the support as happen on Saturday against a good couple of Watford attackers that the defenders struggle with, if the defensive midfielders understands what is need to stem the pressure their forwards were causing then the other midfielders can feed of the that midfield to get further forward, there was no coincidence to the fact we played better under O'Brien than Grimes. Grimes needed more support in the defensive midfielder role than O'Brien did.
Stamenic looked a bit agricultural at times but then showed some quick feet, too early to say Stamenic is what we needd but time will tell.
