I think he’s going to play an aggressive, pressing game when he gets the squad he wants. All the midfielders plus Wales kind of lend themselves to that.

If he does, we’ll see central midfielders run themselves into the ground and have to come off after 60/70 minutes like happened to Franco a lot last season. The difference will be we can replace like with like.

We’ll be exciting to watch if he does go down that route.

Looking at the signings, it think (and hope) that’s the plan. Galbraith to keep things ticking over then two from four to dominate the middle. Can’t say much about any of them bar Franco, but it looks like they’ve all got cardio, aggression and a bit of quality about them.

As you say, imagine Yalcouyé playing like Kante for 70 minutes, then Franco comes on…

I get where you're coming from.
Myself, I am delighted with our signings so far.
However, as a club, we always seem to be devoid of strikers. Never any depth there. I mean at the minute we have one, Vip, who doesn't look like ever scoring more than 5 a season (just another Pintado). Cullen is not a striker and Wales is one for the future I expect. So, for me, we have none never mind depth.
Off the top of my head the last time I really remember a dirge of strikers was 87/88 with Love, McCarthy, Pascoe,Raynor and Allon.

Just a thought, is there any mileage in playing a diamond to get 4 of our 5 midfielders on the pitch. Have 2 up top playing Inoussa or Ronald as an inside forward (a la Henry, ridiculous comparison but you know what I mean) with either Wales or Vip alongside, Key & Tymon will provide the width with Stamenic providing cover from defensive midfield role.
The speed of Ronald & Inoussa might frighten opposing centrebacks giving more time & space to Wales/Vip. This is a bit of a throw back, system wise, but is a way to get our best players on the pitch.
Everyone assumes the only way to play is 4-3-3 but maybe its time for a rethink. I would argue that Brendan played a very unorthodox system heavily based around Leon as the defensive/midfield fulcrum.

This is exactly how Birmingham are setting up . Chris Davies has a plan and sticks to it basically in your face aggressive defence high press and force the errors. Replace certain players on 60 mins midfield/wing backs /striker . It seems to be working so far but injuries suspensions all play a part.Fitness and sram8na is key as us a large /versatile squad
