Joel Lynch on life at QPR on 07:58 - Jun 2 by BazzaInTheLoft | To be fair, and I appreciate this will get a mixed reaction, he goes on to talk about mental health struggles and abuse when he was a YTS. |
I’m not saying people who have a few quid and footballers and highly paid sportsmen and women don’t have mental health issues. I’m sure they do. But my sympathy is less as for me there are plenty of people out there who struggle eg single parent, working with kids, day to day a struggle. These people don’t have the time to talk about mental health or admit they have an issue. They just need to get on with it. I’m probably being harsh, maybe just a grumpy Monday for me.

Joel Lynch on life at QPR on 17:28 - May 31 by JamesB1979 | I think this squad is full of decent lads. We may not have the best players but I’ve thought they have give their best. Sunderland away was a good example. |
Did you think this in the two games against Swansea? I do agree that in most games they give their all, but there have been quite a few matches where heads dropped early on & the effort looked as bad as the performance!

Not sure Swansea away was an effort issue. But that’s just my opinion. Swansea at home, I put down to a disrupted team line up caused by last minute injury. Go through the squad, who do you have concerns about giving it 100%? I could name an entire 11 from few years back. And it’s confirmed by Lynch. Thats not the case today.

Well, for me, empathy isn’t a limited resource so I’m able to accommodate both. All that aside, I really don’t think he was that bad. [Post edited 2 Jun 10:40]

Yeah, he says that there wasn't the right culture and no one was bothered whether we won or lost - well maybe you step up and set the culture then? To me, it strikes at the core of what was wrong with the club under Les - a drift, a 'this'll do' mentality where as long as we stayed up every season (over the likes of Burton), that was fine. Exemplified by our approach to cup matches - who cares whether we actually win a cup match, let's focus on coming 16th. I'm not saying there weren't any slacker footballers back in the day but I'll wager there were far fewer. With the money even a bang average player like Lynch can earn, you've got to be highly motivated to push yourself. Bit weird to go on a podcast and admit you were a fraud though.

Les wanted to fck off a player who faked a positive Coronavirus test to get out of playing over Christmas and the club and manager said no. Shite culture didn’t start with Les. A hill I’m willing to die on.
Joel Lynch on life at QPR on 11:42 - Jun 2 with 2625 views | derbyhoop | Too many Players forget what determination they needed to get a pro deal? Sometimes, as soon as they sign a contract. Compare that to the declared attitude of the young players getting their 1st deal. Then, you see players like Dunne and Cook who give their all week after week.

He can have mental health struggles I can sympathise with, and I can think he was an absolute wasteman of a player who was either trying to get Christmas off, or having a go at Jake Bidwell when Mr Lynch had made yet another one of his cataclysmic brain farts

Wasn't one of Les' first jobs to have to negotiate with all the players and agents to pay them up early and get them out of the club? What a horrible task that must have been. I watched the whole of that episode and I think Lynch is just a follower. He wouldn't create that poor culture and he wouldn't be stopping it either. In any team if you have someone not pulling their weight it ruins it for everyone else. Now imagine that there are a few people swinging a leg and they are all paid significantly more than you. This is what QPR had for many many years. Ex players, even like Nedum can talk about it, but thats not enough, they need to be changing it for everyone. That should be what you pay the big bucks for, a bit of character and leadership. I hope Cook is like that, I worry that you have to go back to Derry and Hill time to see that mentality in the squad. Faking injuries or getting booked on purpose near Xmas must be the lowest of the low if you are a teammate for Lynch though, if he had tried that at Wimbledon back in the day they would have set his clothes on fire or some other nonsense

LF also put a stop to giving Tim Sherwood a job. Another obvious decision, but possibly a hard one as they worked together before at Spurs. He also didnt want Ainsworth or Holloway. I'm not saying Ferdinand was a total failure, but the bad eggs kept coming through the door at QPR . The bad culture within the club behind the scenes continued under his watch (which was my original point) and still exist now after he's left. Which is why all eyes are on Nourry our latest DoF/CEO. I think Nourry is getting far more criticism then Les did and maybe rightly so. Football is a brutal business. I was chatting to one of the dads whose son has just been released by the club recently and some of the things he was saying about certain individuals at the club was gutting to hear. Lynch is just another by product of that football business out for himself. [Post edited 3 Jun 18:28]

When you are quite clearly conspiring to have every Christmas off and earn a not inconsiderate amount, have risked the club losing points due to your absence and possibly (when getting booked or sent off) cost points in games leading up to that then..... yes.. you are that bad. I'd also say if it was Dubai at Christmas, and he's happy to confirm he and his merry band of kuntz didn't give a flying, then, how many other games did you swing it because of something else you'd sooner be doing other than earning your large wedge? The only thing missing here is a bit of spot fixing in my book. It's no wonder things at this club are through the khazi floor if we are accepting standards that Joel Lynch is happy to extoll.

Need to manage his workload to keep him fit. Maybe 1 game in 3 he starts, and then 1 off other 2 off the bench.

This but he needs to start 2 in 3 otherwise he could get injured anyway. 2 in 3 is once a week at most so, that's not too much of an ask. We can see he has learned the Champ is run run run. And he has to be super fit as he gets older. Madsen take note.

Joel Lynch on life at QPR on 13:21 - Jun 7 with 882 views | Northernr | Tried to avoid it, failed. Made me cross, as I knew it would. Knew he was a cnt when he was here, and a cnt he clearly is. JFH had impossibly high standards, Holloway cared about the club too much, but there was "no manager to drive us on". Sorry, what? Holloway calls him in to make sure he's okay and check in on one of his players, good for him. Nah, let's rip the pis out of him and his chickens. "Everybody just there for the money and tossing it off". says the bloke who spent the first two weeks of December every year trying to get himself sent off and only played at Christmas twice in his whole career. Self awareness not a strong suit is it? Worst sort of modern footballer. Maybe you could have stepped up and helped this situation? Maybe you could have risen above it and cared, even though the others didn't? Maybe you could have maintained some professional standards? Nah, much easier to hang at the back laughing like some lobotomised gibbon at Ian Holloway for caring too much (the impression was pretty spot on tbf). Like every fcking div we all went to school with. It's why I've largely stopped listening to Undr The Cosh which used to be my absolute fav podcast. Now it's just absolute bums sitting there talking about just how little they tried or cared, just how much they were able to toss the whole thing off, while the three goon hosts laugh along. Everything that goes wrong is somebody else's fault. Every manager was a cnt. And "Parky" just sits there giving it "I wouldn't have played, me" "I'd have took money and sat on my ars". The little bald fella who hosts it did at least used to ask questions like "do you think you maybe contributed to that toxic dressing room?" or "do you think he might have had a point about your mental health", but now he mostly just sits there and laughs along with them. Hahaha, Ian Holloway, what an idiot, caring too much about the club and checking in on his players wellbeing, hahahaha, hahahahaha. And notice how few ever mention the fans, anywhere they play. Completely irrelevant and out of the picture.

I thought, as an example, surely he’s not taking us for fools and skipping Christmas schedule deliberately? Well, I was wrong. He’s a complete waste of space. As you say, take some effing responsibility, show some respect to the club and its fans. Instead he gave us 2 fingers and took the money.

Spot on. Got to admit that I really don't understand the appeal of this podcast. Listening to bang average footballers say how they got paid a lot of money to be bang average. People take the piss out of Ronaldo (and tbf he is an easy target in many respects) but Jesus, the man tried to maximise every last atom of his career. By comparison, the likes of Lynch are embarrassing pricks who no one will remember.
