So one game for pre season it is then… 21:00 - Jun 7 with 12898 views | HammersmithR | I’ve never known a year where we are heading nearly to mid June and the club have announced one pre season game for the summer. The players I imagine are going to be back in 2 weeks and we don’t know who the manager is, who we are playing for pre season, the new coach whoever it is will literally be coming in starting completely afresh with no time to look at the squad and prepare for pre season. Surely the new manager will want his own players for his style of football? Why is the recruitment process of a new manager taking so long?

Even the headline on the offish about the match, “R’s to entertain Brentford” seems all wrong. Might seem picky and I’m not one of the people who have been criticising up until now but I don’t think anyone on here would have chosen that headline. “Rangers to entertain Bees” is infinitely better and that’s just off the top of my head. |
"Rangers to tolerate Bus Stop Berties"

Brentford will be a good test for fitness and the new manager (whoever that maybe for both clubs) to gage a feel for the club in a local Derby. Possibly a big paying crowd so that's also a positive. Brentford could struggle next season. |
Finally a positive post I was wondering if we were playing Liverpool for a second there . They have a new manager like ourselves and probably be without their top striker so lets see how it goes and enjoy the day

I wish we were playing Liverpool as at least it would be a prestigious friendly that I wouldn't mind getting slaughtered in rather than by Middlesex’s only professional club.

Which reminds me of Truck Day. I thonk we mentioned it here before but Truck Day is when the American baseball teams' trucks full of equipment leave the home stadiums and head for wherever the teams are doing their Spring Training. Truck Day is huge. Crowds show up to cheer the trucks off. Then when they arrive crowds show up to watch the first day of training. The equivelant here would be to advertise the first day of training in our spanking new training ground, have it open to the public, create a party for kids, cheer the players as they arrive, food, drink, face painting, fun games, and then watch them do the first (light) day of training. It's a free hit for clubs, fans would love it. Can't see why we don't do it.

Castellon is a great, albeit impoverished when I studied there, town. Interesting recent history of a white elephant airport that would’ve opened it up to tourism and the corrupt mayor legging it with a load of dough and the project collapsing half-completed. The local industry lost out to China and many of the factories were converted into a nightclub district. A stone’s throw from Villarreal which is a bit of a nothing place but cracking stadium. The football team had some terrible times when the economy went tits up. Now back on their feet and stayed up fairly comfortably in the second division last season. Would have loved to re-visit for this (if it weren’t behind closed doors) but away that week anyway.
