If it’s a choice between McBurnie or O’Brien then it’s a tough decision. I’d prefer to see O’Brien sign purely based on his recent performances for us. Our new group of players will need someone with his experience in the middle of the park.

That's a tricky one for me it depends on who the other midfielder striker coming in is.

The recruitment team have ex amount left to spend so it's not as simple as that need to fit all the pieces in and get the best team we can.

I have been all for Mcburnie but the only thing that concerns me is forwards returning to us seldom do well the second time round. I would edge towards O'brien with a young Premier League forward on loan. They are out there and we have been successful in that direction before.

I think it could fall down to that, as it stands, things change, O’Brien should be a priority but the money involved is really above our threshold.

A great believer in taking anything you like to wherever you want to.

O'brian for me if it is a choice. Then we wait and see how many of our strikers we can offload to get a replacement 9.

Same for me, I also think that there’s a bigger chance that goals will come from midfield this year

Goals win games, Mcburnie gets us at least 15. Both great players but Mcburnie over O'Brien all day for me.

I agree with that. He was the midfielder who gelled the team and look at our results. I’d love him to stay even if it meant half time bucket collections for his wages!

It’s not guaranteed he will get us 15 though? Hes barely scored since he left us. He went a full season at Sheffield United without scoring at all and they were one of the strongest teams.

Cullen got 12 last year playing largely in a deeper role but everyone seems to write him off.

The need for a striker capable of scoring 20 goals a season is vastly overstated. What we need is at least four or five players in the squad getting into or close to double figures.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Not sure how much he played when he was there though. Brewster is also on a free and i would move heaven and earth to bring him back. Bith players when played week in week out will get us goals.

Add their goals to Cullens goals and get more from our wide players then we have a squad capable of achieving things.

I wouldn't touch McBurnie with anyone's.
He has been useless since leaving, often in trouble, rarely bothered a goal scoring chart, over paid. I wouldn't go near him.
I would rather Brewster on a free. He has the talent but is wasted in Sheffield

O'Brien all day for me , he made us tick last season & brought solidity and strength to the midfield , I'd take a chance with Brewster ,a little hit and miss but younger than Olly who as pointed out can't buy a goal

O'brien all day long, he is tried and tested, I love Ollie but hes a few years older and a gamble.

As has been said earlier, hopefully our midfielders will chip in with more goals.

Would have O'Brien back if possible as for a striker I would like to see a striker who can make a nuisance of himself and cause centrehalves problems both aerially and on the floor, if defenders are under pressure they will make mistakes. We have some interesting signings and need someone to compliment them and one that they can feed off so we get more goals throughout the team.

What about Ryan Hardie ?, oops just seen that he has just been snapped up by a rival team.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

I wonder if Sheffield United will let Kieffer Moore leave now that Chris Wilder has left. I know he's under contract but at 32 they couldn't expect a huge amount for him

I tend to agree with this. If the scouting and recruitment is as good as it appears to be so far, we don’t need to be paying premiums for established players. Even on frees.

Only thing swaying me towards McBurnie rather than a rough diamond is he’s a leader (on the pitch) and the type of player that gets that bit extra out of teammates.

Same could be applied to O’Brien, but he was a real game changer last season.

Just an idea Richard. Earlier you said this -

'Would have O'Brien back if possible as for a striker I would like to see a striker who can make a nuisance of himself and cause centrehalves problems both aerially and on the floor, if defenders are under pressure they will make mistakes. He absolutely does cause centre halves problems as he's aggressive and very good in the air. And he may not be a PL quality player but to call him a cart horse as JON does is totally wide of the mark imo.
