Multiple punch ups from people who should know better at Surrey cricket 22:35 - Jun 20 with 8660 views | numptydumpty | So much alcohol, so much sun, game going nowhere. People egging others on throughout to down pints. And put pint glass on pint glass. Stewards just staring people out - passive aggressive- made so much worse and rather couple of older blokes throwing a few punches, all the while stewards looking angry and doing nothing and then after about an hour of this nonsense, few people got ejected and police with batons came in, obviously didnt use them. We were completely bemused. Worse than I have seen at any football match for years. A few old dears wading in too. And unbelievably loads of young kids in big group, probably around 10 years old, totally unphased by what was going on. Probably seen so much on social media ie no sense of what was going on around them. Had to remember was at a cricket match. Absolute joke. Could not believe what was happening around us. Anyhow Surrey won easily but what was going on was outrageous. Ridiculous scenario. [Post edited 20 Jun 22:36]

Multiple punch ups from people who should know better at Surrey cricket on 11:59 - Jun 21 by numptydumpty | I do not know Mr Chapman myself. Is he a rather rotund gentleman probably late 60s early 70s, and supports Middlesex and QPR. Went along with his wife. Had a go at me for supporting Surrey when I support QPR amd suggested as QPR was.in old layman terms in Middlesex, I had no right to follow Surrey. I told him via his Mrs that I was born in Surrey. This bloke was one that got ejected from the ground as he started swinging a few punches to bloke behind us!!!! |
'Is he...?' In a word, no.

You know, one of NASA's alien contact scenarios involves aliens actually saving the human race from itself. I'm really beginning to wonder if that is our best chance. |
Won’t be too long before artificial intelligence gets a proper look at us and thinks to itself, do we actually need these people.

Maybe another issue that needs looking at. I asked at the bar for a pint of lager and a pint of lager shandy. Bemused the girl took ten minutes and asked about three or four of her colleagues for help on what exactly a shandy was and how to make it and then asked me to taste it to make sure she had got it right. I mean, I know most people there were three sheets to the wind, but they were all employed as bar staff and the asking for a shandy completely threw them all !!! [Post edited 22 Jun 2:57]

I agree. I think it's inevitable. Nourry's ok, he speaks their language and they understand each other. In fact, you always see/feel Nourry and AI are in the same room at the same time. As for the rest of us...potted!

The thing is AI will soon speak our language to communicate with us lesser beings but yes would still come to the same conclusion that humans are deeply flawed and the point of us, is exactly what ?? They could even communicate and speak the language to someone massively under the influence. Speak and act like a drunk man or woman and then decide !!! [Post edited 22 Jun 12:00]

I actually have my doubts that CN actually exists. I think Hoos got pissed off and CN is an AI generated figure to take all the flak from the Board. I am thinking of a Max Headroom type cyber- being, but not so charming or human. (One for the kids!)

As mentioned above...no. The Chapman fellow is a Surrey man; I recall him describing the place as 'God's own County'.

Multiple punch ups from people who should know better at Surrey cricket on 00:12 - Jun 24 by R_from_afar | Now, I like shandy but there was a pub I used to go to in Newbury in the late 80s in which the barmen used to mockingly shout "Shandy at the bar!" if anyone ordered said beverage . I doubt any of the regulars ever risked ordering a Babycham. |
Does anyone order a lager top anymore also ? Asking for a friend !!!!

Multiple punch ups from people who should know better at Surrey cricket on 22:39 - Jun 20 by Northernr | At the cricket?! I packed in going to the races when it got like this, lots of coked up lads in those tight fitting Next suits and shoes with no socks, but I've never experienced anything close at the cricket. |
Ascot now have sniffer dogs outside and a 'must have socks higher than your ankles' policy although doesn't eliminate all the trouble

Northampton Saints' rugby union supporters fighting. Surely not, it was just mere exuberance on display. They're all of good stock, always behave impeccably and are beyond reproach. Now a similar instance in rugby league: very rare indeed, football etc, that's deemed as hooliganism and being a public nuisance. [Post edited 24 Jun 11:13]

Glyndbourne last year, geezers trading in the Moet tent. A proper nasty bruhaha, a right snafu that had spilled over from Henley! This year one should go fully tooled up.

yep, occasionally if i'm driving and partake in one of the pissier weak lagers; i find it masks the flavour quite nicely. due to the arrival of better 0% beers its happens less frequently these days.
