York City at home last game of the season, could be a full house, depending?

Its fair to say that the opening 6 games in August travelling apart looks favorable.

It will certainly be a marker on what to expect this season.

Last season was away v a recently promoted club.. Boreham Wood will provide a stern test i am sure.

August. 6 games in a month coming thick and fast.

09 Borehamwood A
16 Alty H
20 Gateshead H
23 Brackley Town A
25 Sutton United H
30 Wealdstone A

The Altrincham home game is actually on Saturday 16th.
You've also omitted a National League Cup Group stage game scheduled for Tuesday 16th (opponents yet to be confirmed).

Disappointed that we are still taking part in that.

Notice Carlisle have decided not to.

and Yeovil and Altrincham have followed suit too. I am sure more will make announcements in due course.

It was said at the CAB meeting that last season it was the most lucrative of all the cup competitions we were involved in.

Poll: What is it to be then?

At least we now seem to have the squad for it which hasn’t always been the case.

With the number of players we have now this competition will at least provide much needed game time for those not playing regularly. Something we could have done without last season.

Thats interesting. Even more profitable than the FA Trophy? (No idea how much, if any, profit we made from that.)

Poll: So who do you believe - Hendo or the Board?

I seem to remember something along the lines of a prize fund being £1,000,000. Now whether that was split equally between the 16 competing National League clubs (so £62,500 each), or if it was split based on progression in the competition etc, I’m not sure.

Based on the released list, we currently have a smaller squad than we did at the end of last season, even if we were to sign 3 keepers.

I do agree with your point though, and since the players we've signed are ours and not on loan, it's an opportunity to keep the whole squad match fit.

I’m pretty sure that we didn’t make a profit on the home group games.

I am sure the club announced that the prize money more than covered the cost of hosting a game and it allowed the club to offer free or very heavily discounted tickets to encourage new fans down to the stadium. On top of that, the club also keeps the revenue generated on the night. Only Jim knows whether it was a distraction or not. We have already been told that our pitch will struggle again in winter if it is wet ..... not sure why we would want to risk it to be honest.

No coincidence that the top two clubs last season (Barnet and York) declined to join the competition to avoid distraction from the league.

Borehamwood is an easy journey for me with the car park right outside the ground. Perfect starter for me other than it being a promoted side we play first. Third year running we have played a promoted side on the first day. The better test will be Alty the following week.

Although, next season, the group games are scheduled to conclude by December.

Fair enough. Hopefully Jim can find another Jack Kingdon from the development squads that we can loan in later in the season if needed.

based on the 'closed doors' game with a championship club, is it possible that us or them are looking at a potential season long loan for a goalie?
