Rumarn Burrell on 08:07 - Jul 27 with 2154 views | Gloucs_R | Likes the ball to be put into the box.... Unfortunately we've never managed to do that for Celar either. But if he has chases and closes down then it's an upgrade. We used to turn lower league strikers into decent players in the 80s.... Let's hope we can do that again. I still think Ba is on his way. So yeah, Celar is off to I reckon. [Post edited 27 Jul 9:29]

Rumarn Burrell on 08:08 - Jul 27 with 2146 views | DWQPR | Like the look of this lad. And even though Kelman took the headlines in League One last season his stats were 0.43 goals per match in a team that reached the play offs. And this was his third season in League One. Burrell averaged 0.36 goals per match in his first season and from the video montage looked like he was up there for assists as well. Seemed quite comfortable with both feet and when in a crossing position certainly had the mystical ability to look up to see what options he has before crossing. Speed is obviously another factor he has, which lets all be honest Kelman doesn’t. And finally if Plymouth were in for this lad, and let’s face it they have a pretty decent record of picking up decent forwards from the lower leagues. I like this signing and not particularly bothered about losing Kelman especially given that we are reportedly getting £3.5million, which when getting him for £250k ain’t bad.

We've paid £1.3 for this lad according to some Burton fans

Poku and Dembele are class acts and are excellent signings. This lad brings the much needed pace we have been missing up front and when you combine that with the service he will receive from Poku, Dembele and Chair, we could be a force to be reckoned with. My concern is behind those four. Our midfield needs to be much more solid, and whilst Madsen is capable of playing the “quarterback” roll of spraying the ball around the park, his defensive work, along with Dembele, is non existent. We need Varane back alongside Field in the middle of the park.

Talking of Madsen, I think he has the ability to spot and play the quick forward pass to set Burrell on his way, as he did for Yang in the latter games of last season. I do agree though, that the lack of defensive work that both he and Dembele do is concerning. I don't know what formation or team selection Stephan will in mind to include Chair in a central role, with Dembele and Madsen along with Poku & Burrell, but it could be exciting and entertaining if it works. Gk, Dunne, Cook, Morrison, lb , Varane, Chair, Madsen, Dembele, Burrell, Poku. I'm not convinced that would work, as QPR could be overrun in midfield. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Rumarn Burrell on 09:11 - Jul 27 with 1731 views | LongRanger | Feels like a long shot to me, given the limited period of success he’s had at League 1, most achieved iN Scotland, but he’s quick, hard working and has found an eye for goal, so it’s a punt worth taking at 3rd of the money we got for Kelman who didn’t want to be here so a good trade. Totally agree with picking the best from L1, but also feel we need a few quality Hayden type players to allow them time to develop as they could do.

In fairness to Madsen, yesterday he was definitely putting in defensive work. He is never going to be throwing himself around like Field, but he can break the line with his forward passes. We don't have another midfielder who can do that yet. Our first goal yesterday started with his first time pass to Larkeche.

I didn't see that yesterday. Sorry, I just didn't see it. He passes the ball, admires it and stops all movement. Loses the ball, no effort to win it back. Player goes past him, doesn't bust a gut to get after him. A luxury player we can't afford. Not going to be a popular opinion with all of you but that's how I personally feel. Rumarn Burrell on 09:34 - Jul 27 with 1509 views | dmm | Just watched his interview on the offy. He comes across as a quiet and serious lad, which I like. I think he will take some time to adjust to this level, so I hope the crowd allows him that space. If Celar is off, we'll see another striker come in and you'd think it would be one of Ba, Nkada or Tovide. I don't think Burrell will be first choice and, when Frey is fit, the unicorn could well be the starting striker.

I think jokes like that are bad form Ted. QPR is one of the few clubs who actively employe short people. Traditionally midgets seldom get work in football and struggle to put food on the table.

You need to watch the first goal and Madsen's involvement......like it or not he started the attack with a well taken forward pass to the LB, he that did not 'stand still' he moved forward to support the play. Watch it and you will see!!!

And there lies the problem. Exciting going forward, but too easy to play through. Vale might be an option in the middle of the park when more physicality is needed. Madsen is one luxury player too far for my liking. Might be ok coming on to replace Dembele or Chair if needed, but cannot start alongside them, especially against the bruisers in this division.

Rumarn Burrell on 10:03 - Jul 27 with 1264 views | Northernr | Bit of pace and power up front, good finisher, the analytics lads love him. My one concern is his goals are all penalty box finishes, much like Celar's were when he came here. We're going to have to create for him, and we're really bad at that/ We're not a striker factory. Hopefully Poku will be the start of this changing as he's an assist machine.

I think he's been briefed by Julie to play as much one touch as possible. Me-Julie said as match in the post match. Some of those didn't come off yesterday and people were getting frustrated but it's early days. But I still don't know how we incorporate Madsen's relative lack of mobility, Chair in that more central role (looked sharp I thought), and Morgan (or potential Eze money alternative) moving between the lines to switch things up. Feels like we've got 3 players doing two people's roles, but I'm not the manager thank god.

Agreed styles of his finishes, though from what clips are available on the YouTube he looks a general handful which besides Frey we’ve lacked. For so long we’ve had strikers who seem to need perfect build up to even get a chance (Celar, Dykes). Burrell looks like the sort of player who might create something from nothing through pace and pressing - like a better version of Lloyd - which this team sorely needs. I agree this squad isn’t a strikers dream to play with, but it’s about time we had someone other than Frey who puts it about a bit. I get the impression this lad will be that sort.

The strike force desperately needed an overhaul. They're fcking crap, let's be honest. So the idea of two out and three in this week as rumoured quite excites me. We couldn't try another winter with Frey, Celar, Kolli and Lloyd, we just couldn't. Roll the dice.

What was noticeable in the game yesterday was the amount of work and pressing Chair did in that first half. That is simply not his job. Chair will hopefully be playing behind Burrell and pulling the strings. Burrell has the pace and energy to force the press. Chair is looking fit and strong again. Expecting a great season from him, especially with the type of players now supporting him.
Rumarn Burrell on 10:22 - Jul 27 with 1047 views | JamesB1979 | 100%. Wonder what the plan for Kolli is though? He won’t get many minutes with Frey, Burrell and 2 other new forwards. Maybe he’s seen as playing on the left wing?
Rumarn Burrell on 10:25 - Jul 27 with 1013 views | dmm | Just wanted to flag up the fact that Dembele has scored 4 goals in pre season, and with both feet. Poku looks like he's got the wide right slot and Stephan wants Chair to have the middle slot. That leaves the wide left slot. Dembele has his weaknesses and he'll probably have an inexperienced LB behind him, but given those goals, does he deserve a starting place?

Yeah. Not even sure you can call it a roll of the dice - implies you’ve got something to lose. Nothing to lose by being rid of all of them, less Frey (which I think we can all agree is for his madman, sht house, steal your lunch money vibes; not football ability)
