QPR: The Modern Circus of West London – Column 16:15 - Aug 4 with 5673 viewsNorthernr

The curtain lifts. The drums roll. The gates open. The circus continues, and we’re still here.

Kicking our guest columns off for the new season with something a bit different from Gareth Dixon...

Great read.

Disappointed not to see an inclusion of a photo of the iconic "QPR - Shit but Local" graffiti

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Entertaining & energising.

Amen to LFW continuing to provide "long-form context in a short-form world."

Interesting facts, and all credit to Gareth Dixon for his role at QPR, but this piece was definitely given to an AI at some point in its life cycle with the instruction "make this sound prettier".

Great piece…agree with it all.

Which just makes it that bit harder to fathom why we didn’t put Grenfell on the front of our third kit this season…

Nicely done Gareth - sums up a lot of how I feel about the club. Boutique? Not for me. Get the kettle on.

Lovely read. Makes you feel proud to be part of this mad little club that has such a big soul.

The opening remarks that attempt to connect the start of British football with the French Revolution are a heck of a stretch though!

**Irish, Caribbean, white working class, punks, poets, pensioners: QPR's identity has always been defined by inclusion, not exclusivity.**

Love it! The PJDN reference is spot on, unfortunately the writer/actor who plays ‘Steves’ is a Brentford fan.

Pre-season has been a bit blah, so this was just the article to get me in the mood for another season.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Was that when Napoleon said we are a nation of goalkeepers ?
Sorry, I've cracked that one a number of times before.

Albert Camus would have had something to say about that.

Great piece of writing . Describes and explains the true heart ,soul and meaning of this football club and why , no matter our individual differences , we all feel a connection that is hard to explain to ‘outsiders’.
This column had a good go though. Good stuff

Great read. The lows. I remember 1987. We met in the pub and we all agreed to flood onto the centre circle. Probably about 100 of us got on just before kick off all on the tele. I was one of many to be dragged off by the police but came back on again. The crowd were cheering. Who else on here participated ?
