Absolutely totally agree. Wrexham will finish way above us with O’Brien. I’ll say it until the cows come home, we should have built the side around him, and should have pushed the boat out for him. He’s going to be a top class box to box midfielder. Exactly what we are missing, especially after watching today’s game.

O'brien was played off the park today by Downes who absolutely controlled the midfield. The last 30 minutes Wrexham were completely overrun and O'brien didn't offer much. Don't get me wrong he was brilliant for us last season but his terms were far too high for us, sometimes to run a club effectively you just have to walk away O'brien like Mcburnie are two such cases this season. Personally I have no regrets.

You keep on saying “The first 2 games he played we lost” So what ?
The guy is going to be premiership class. Wrexham will benefit, our loss.

The guy was at a Premier League club and couldn't get a game.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

We’re never going to compete for players of that calibre that everyone knows about.

On loan, or from overseas markets that aren’t as heavily scouted, we’ve got a chance.

If it wasn’t Wrexham, someone else with more money would have blown us out the water.

I'd take Downes over LoB every day of the week.

Agreed, in my opinion neither are Premier League quality but Downes is far better in the Championship.

I'd really like to see what Eom could offer in the 10 position. Have Franco as the enforcer sitting deep with Galbraith creating the link with Eom & the wide players.
Sorry but neither Fulton or Cullen should be anywhere near this ream.

hes a Robbie James /Penney type player, on his game hes also an influencer for the others, him and franco , say no more franco on his own today was average.

Cullen should be coming on as an attacking midfielder or a second striker when we’re chasing the game.

I agree, he should never be starting games up front on his own.

I think Downes could be a capable PL player. Not outstanding, but capable. The jury is firmly out on LoB.

If I have a major gripe about today it's that players were a bit out of position. For me Eom is a #10. Widell is an 8. Neither are wingers. Cullen simply isn't good enough as a striker. I remain far from convinced that he's good enough anywhere, but he's certainly better as a #10 too.

I understand what you mean regarding players out of position, but for me the problem was too many players with no Championship experience. Galbraith, Widell, Inoussa and Casey all played thrir first game in the league. It will take time.

Absolutely.

Only morons and the insane expect things to be 100% from day one. We're a work in progress. Perhaps another window or two away from being the finished article.

Very disappointing performance from a game with Draw written all over it.First half was even and you could tell one goal would win it . We gave a sloppy goal away from a corner that Vigaroux could have prevented if he’d come for the ball instead of letting Burgess head out and you just knew it was game over .We were 1-0 down with 1/2 hour left and we were lethargic and lacked any attacking prowess and seemed happy to play pointless little tri-angles in our own half with no urgency or desire to get the ball forward quickly .we made Boro look good .We played with 2 wingers but You could count the number of crosses into the box in the second half half on one hand , Boro just seemed to have so much time and space on the ball ,were quicker in the challenges and were able to pick passes at will to players who always seemed to be in space. We are desperately missing somebody in the midfield who can make things happen because we didn’t have one today .
People can call for a forward as much as they like,if they get the same service as today ,we might as well stick with what we’ve got because even Haaland or Mbapoe would have been anonymous today

We’re missing the O’Brien effect. Once we get that missing midfield magic we’ll be fine

100% agree. I'm not gonna sit here and say we played well or bad. There was glimpses of players specifically Inoussa. Casey as well didn't look out of place and I think will be good singing. No disrespect to Arthur Parker, but he looked out of depth when he came in last week, be that it's not his natural position. Casey came on and though didn't do anything amazing, at same time fitted well into the team.

Widell will take time to get used to championship, but I think he will come good.

Cabango and Eom was not fully fit and did best under circumstances.

We all got excited about things with signings, but it's gonna take a few windows for this team and club as a whole to get to where it needs to be. I can spend all the time saying how we got there but we know why and what needs to be fixed.

Sheehan needs time. Football is cruel and I hope he can start to show what he brought last season. I fear a few games lost and fans will turn.

There are people, mostly the Russy fanboys, who are sitting there with fingers crossed that Sheehan fails. The remainder is largely comprised of people who are far happier when the Swans struggle so they can get their kicks by tediously moaning about it. They're worthy of little but contempt in either case.

Very true. I understand no manager will ever win over every fan and I won't ever say that I will stand by Sheehan until the very end, but I hope it comes good for him. I have been vocal about where we are at and I think injuries have played a massive part in pre season performances etc.

Was today's game good No. But it wasn't the worse display. Let's get decent striker in, few more players and settle them into the championship.

I like Cullen as a 10. He doesn’t have the silky control Eom does and can’t burst past defenders like Ntcham, but he’s much better at knowing where and when to run into gaps in the box and get on the end of chances. With a centre forward ahead of him, he gets chances. When he is the centre forward, he normally gets marked out of the game. He’s also one of the best we’ve had at playing balls in behind the fullbacks when he’s a bit deeper.

Positionalky, I totally agree. I think Sheehan may need to tinker his formation slightly to accommodate his players. Can’t really play with a box to box midfielder and a 10 in a 433 or the remaining midfielder gets very exposed when we get turned over. Particularly with fullbacks like ours, who like to get forward.

I think he got it wrong yesterday. Maybe too cautious, though I’ll admit I was happy enough at half time when it looked a very even game.

He did more than enough to prove himself last season though. He’s got to find the balance between being cautious and passive and he’s got to get them working as more of a unit (he did it last season). I’ve no doubt he’ll get it right fairly quickly.

O’Brien was the box to box engine that made us tick. It was no coincidence that his form and Sheehan taking over turned our season around.
I’d take O’Brien any day of the week.
We’ve got enough “Hollywood” type backers, to eventually circumnavigate PSR, just like Wrexham have done.
Nobody there seems to be worried about their club being bankrupted by signing LOb.
We’ve had 7 years in The Premier League, and now have very rich backers/ owners, who want to get back there.
Many may still think of us as little ol Swansea City, a backwater somewhere in South Wales, but these guys have a totally different mentality.
They want to monetise the golden ticket, that is The Premier League.
Whether you like it or not, they are pulling the strings.
They are putting in the building blocks to hopefully sustain us going forwards ie. Coaching, scouting, academy, (aiming for Cat 1) revenue streams like SD & Modric ect.
What’s not to like about all that ?

Some gossamer veiled dogs at fellow fans here
Now , it's insane to expect your team to actually give 100%
Yesterday they didn't but if they did then that's even worse
Some still cannot exchange views without barbs or contempt for people who want exactly the same
Success

Sadly, our dreams and hopes and expectations have been lowered frantically in a short space of time

We got early signings in , we had a pre season , so no excuses eh

And nobody is looking for Sheehan to fail That is the sort of crap that divides fans
Some , like me, speak as of now
Right now, we look shyte
We hope it gets better

On positive note, the Swedes look hungry and skilful so start them
Burgess and Cabango should be good
It's full backs and their defending that kills us

We also need to pray Vig stays injury free

Poll: Christmas. Enjoyable or not

Sheehan stated that this game had 0-0 written all over it.
Sounds like he was going for a draw.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Just getting ready to leave Middlesbrough, had a great day and evening with a few mates, the poor performance didn't stop our enjoyment.

Not surprised with the moaning especially one person whose posts multiply by a 100 when we lose 🙄

Like a few on here and most jacks i am not worried atm, now if we play like that in two months then I might start to worry, we have a few to come in and several players yesterday were 100% fit, could have shared the points easily apart from 1 percentage goal.

Hey onto Tuesday, hoping to see a few youngsters and then give Sheffield Utd a tuning next week, onwards and upwards 👍

Possibly some can see the bigger picture and have a better understanding of football and our club. Take a step back and think before you continually post abuse about our coaching staff in particular. Your continual bickering when we lose and lack of positivity when we win is clearly showing you for what you are.
